Fault type:
A = Automatic reset after a call (can try again). If the cause disappears, the elevator goes back to normal mode.
B = The elevator stays idle until the fault is repaired. No more calls are accepted. The fault is also cancelled if AM1
controller board is powered off or if the cause of the fault disappears.
C = Permanent fault: the elevator shut-down until the fault is repaired and the ‘SPEEDY’ button on the PROG1 board is
pushed. With this kind of fault, the elevator can follow two ways of operation: ‘instant stop’ (with 2 or 3 at adr.29 - the
elevator stops immediately) or ‘stop after return to bottom floor’ (0 or 1 at adr.29 - the elevator goes to bottom floor
and stays idle).
NOTE: in TRACTION elevators permanent faults can be only of ‘instant stop’ type (so put 2 or 3 at adr.29).
D = Visual indication only.
(*) = Faults enbled only when Remote Monitoring is active (16 at adr.35).
● = Fault disabled during inspection service.
► = Fault can be disabled through programming.
■ = Fault not stored in memory (not shown in the ‘Fault List’)

Note: HOW TO SET MULTI-PURPOSE ADDRESSES

Memory addresses from 26 to 35, 94, 95 and 96 can be set to enable or disable particular functions or services of the
elevator. If at one of these addresses is stored a value equal to 0, none of the listed function is enabled. More functions can
be enabled by adding their value. Fixed values that can be added are 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 and 32.

Examples:
- To have reversed ABCDE encoding and reversed DS output serial signal put 20 (4+16) at adr. 96

- At adr.95, value is equal to 13 this means that 3 functions are enabled (1+4+8):

1) DIF input becomes 5° bit (E) for Binary or Gray po sition encoding
4) GONG pulse at floor arrival instead of slowdown
8) Double GONG pulse in down travels

If now you want to change GONG pulse function in order to have it on slowdown and not at floor arrival, simply
remove value 4 from adr.95. So the new value to enter is: 9.

See section 4 for more details about memory programming.

2.2 Electric features
2. 2. 1 P o w e r
- AM1 Controller: 13V+/-15% AC (recommended). V0-V12 power terminals are surge-protected by a replaceable 4A fuse.
Maximum sink current: 400mA.
- Hall lanterns / Landing call accept lights: power can be supplied by +12 output of AM1 board (12V DC / 2A max).
NOTE: in case of power failure, it’s not connected to battery.
- Expansion boards: power can be supplied by VIM output of AM1 board (12V DC / 0,5A max). NOTE: in case of power
failure, it’s connected to battery.
- Battery: a 12V+/-10% battery can be connected to BAT positive power terminal and GND terminal of the AM1 board.
See section 5.2 Battery.
- Ground reference: GND is the zero reference for AM1 board and all external elements (hall lanterns, relays, expansion
boards… safety chain excluded); OM is the zero reference for safety chain line and for safety circuits; A- is zero
reference for alarm circuit (Italian Law 13). After execution of circuit isolating tests, these power pins should be connected
togheter and put to ground.

2.2.2 Inputs
Inputs must be connected to ground and never to +V. Anyway, they are not damaged by voltages under 24V DC. Main inputs
are signalled by LED status lights.

2.2.3 Outputs
Main signal outputs are driven by power transistors (60V DC / 0.5A max current) protected from short circuits without time
limit. Details about transistor outputs can be found in schematic diagram 2.3.
All other outputs (car movement contactors, doors open/close relays, ‘Car in use’ signal, and CE outputs) are driven by on-
board relays that can carry currents up to 5A.

3. CONNECTOR DESCRIPTIONS
3.1 +12
+12 power terminal can supply 2A max current and in case of power failure, it isn’t connected to battery. See section 2.2.1
Power.

3.2 A / B / C / D
These outputs have two operating modes:
- Binary or Gray encoding for car position indicators
If high speed configuration is not enabled (with 0 at adr.24), ‘A, B, C, D’ outputs give car position number in binary or
Gray encoding. These outputs show the floor number and not the landing number.
If the elevator has more than 16 floors, you can have the 5° bit (E) of the binary or gray encoding add ing 1 at adr.95
Binary or Gary encoding is not affected by the number of undergrounds (for example, if bottom floor is ‘-2’, the code on
A, B, C and D outputs is 0).
These outputs can be negated adding 4 at adr.96.
To have BINARY encoding DO NOT ADD 16 at adr.33
To have GRAY encoding ADD 16 at adr.33
See section 7.1.1 Car position indicators.
- High speed outputs
High speed configuration can be set with 1, 2 or 3 at adr.24, in this case ‘A, B, C, D’ outputs give V1P, V2P, V3P and
V4P speed signals. See section 5.17.3 High speed configuration.

3.3 A+/A-
Alarm push button inputs in accordance with Italian Law 13. See section 5.7 Alarm (Italian Law 13).

3.4 ALT
Car ‘STOP’ push button input. This input must be connected before manual-operated door contacts in the safety chain line
(see diagram 2.1).
When it’s opened, it breaks the safety chain line stopping the car. If the car is in door zone, the doors are opened otherwise
the doors stays closed. Elevator acts as follows:
- SAPB elevator: the registered car call is cancelled. When ALT input is closed again, the car stays idle until a new car call
is placed.
- Full collective simplex: all registered calls are left unchanged and when ALT input is closed, the car stars moving after
TAP time (adr.2).
- Elevator with high speed configuration enabled (1, 2 or 3 at adr.24): all registered calls are cancelled and when ALT
input is closed, the car stars a RESET opeartion after TAP time (adr.2).

3.5 AP (Door open)

Relay output for door open relay (DOR). If selective/normal multiple doors are enabled, this output opens side 1 door. See
section 5.11 Doors.

3.6 AP2
Transistor output fot side 2 door. Use this output to drive a mini-relay which N/O contact is put in series to DOR2 relay as
shown in 2.3 Main diagram. See also section 5.11 Doors.

AMCS ELETTRONICA AM1 User Manual 23

3.7 APA
This input has two operating modes:
- Door pre-opening
To enable door pre-opening at floor arrival do not add 4 at adr.94 and connect APA input to an external switch that
closes before each floor. Door starts opening when the following condition are true: the car is in low speed, APA input is
closed, one of IS or ID floor switch is encountered and the car is at the designated floor. In this case car keeps travelling
even though CS input (car door contacts) is opened. An external safety circuit by-pass module must be used in order to
by-pass door contacts. See section 5.1 Door pre-opening.
- Re-levelling zone
To enable APA input as re-levelling zone add 4 at adr.94. and connect it to an external switch that, when closed, defines
an alternate re-levelling zone to the default one (set by ID/IS floor switches). NOTE: if APA input is set as re-levelling
zone and it’s not connected, the re-levelling operation can’t ever take place. In this case, if re-levelling zone is done with
ID/IS switches, set APA input as door pre-opening. See section 8.1 Re-levelling operation.

3.8 apg
It’s the control input of high speed contactor (KHS) and of door open relay (DOR). See 2.3 Main diagram.
It must be closed to GND:
- In low speed, otherwise after 1.2 seconds the elevator shuts down with fault 45 code. This fault is disabled: during re-
levelling operation, when APA input is closed to GND and in DOMUS elevator.
- When the elevator is parking at floor and door is not opening, otherwise after 6 seconds elevator shuts down with fault 48
code. The elevator goes back to normal service when ‘apg’ input is closed.
- In order to have an ‘immediate’ car leaving when a car call is registered or when the car door close button (PCP) is
pushed (in this case when ‘apg’ is closed to ground, the TAP delay time is reset and the car can start a new travel
immediately).
It must be opened:
- While the elevator is in high speed (when G output is on), otherwise after 6 seconds the elevator shuts down with fault 51
code.
- During door opening:
1) In order to allow full door opening (otherwise door opening could be interrupted when a new car call is registered or
when car door close button (PCP) is pushed).
2) In order to have a door open time (TMA at adr.1) greater than 3 seconds (fixed minimum time).
3) In order to avoid that TAP delay time (at adr.2) starts from the beginning of door opening instead of the end of door
opening.
NOTE: For these reasons an N/C contact of door open relay (DOR) should be put in series to ‘apg’ input. However the
control of this contact can be disabled adding 32 at adr.29, in this case RAP output stays active for all TMA time (door
open maximum time at adr.1).
See also sections 2.4 Control inputs and 5.11 Doors.

3.9 AR
Alarm acknowledgement push button input. See section 5.7 Alarm (Italian Law 13).

3.10 BAT
Positive power input for a 12V battery. See section 5.2 Battery.

3.11 CCO / CCC / CCS

Car movable platform contac inputs active to ground (CCO = Car in use, CCC = full load, CCS = overload). CCC and CCS
inputs can be set normally closed (N/C) adding 2 at adr.96. See section 6.5 Movable platform.
CCS input can be set for ‘Manual rescue operation’ when enabled togheter with MAN input (see section 8.7.1 Manual rescue
operation).

24 AM1 User Manual AMCS ELETTRONICA

3.12 CE / CE
These two outputs are a clean contact of the on-board OCC relay (‘Car in use’ signal) and are used in SAPB elevator to cut
the common line of landing call push buttons. This contact is opened when ‘Car in use’ signal is on (OCC relay output active)
otherwise is closed.
In SAPB elevator with car and landing call divided (16 is added at adr.29), it’s not needed to cut landing call push button
common line as shown in 2.3 Main diagram.
In down/full collective simplex CE/CE contact can be used to drive lights and fan inside car setting TOC time (adr.9) as
desired.

3.13 CEP / CIP

Fire service inputs: CEP = Fire service (phase1) and CIP = Firefighters service (phase 2). They are normally opened
inputs but can be set as N/C inputs adding 16 at adr.34. See section 8.10 Fire service.

3.14 CHP
Priority call service input. See section 8.2 Priority call service.

3.15 CM1 / CM2

Photocell (Electric eye) or door safety edge inputs: CM1 = first side door, CM2 = second side door. For third side door, NOS
input can be set adding 2 at adr.94. See section 5.5 Photocell (electric eye) and door safety edge.

3.16 CP (Door close)

Relay output for door close relay (DCR) (for all door sides). See section 5.11 Doors.

3.17 CPF
This output has two operating modes:
- Nudging door closing
It can drive a reduced speed closing of the elevator doors when they are held too long or any kind of signals that activates
after a fixed time from the registration of a new car or landing call. The fixed time after which nudging door closing
operation starts is CHF at adr.7 and can range from 0 to 97 seconds.
To enable this feature, do not add 32 at adr.94 (TIMER2 must be disbled).
NOTE: When nudging door feature is enabled, a special feature of FS3 input is enabled too (check of a general contact
feature). So if you don’t need this feature on FS3 input, simply connect it to IF input. See section 3.29 FS3.
- TIMER2
CPF output is used togheter with FS3 input for ‘TIMER2’ general purpose timer. To enable this feature add 32 at adr.94.
See section 5.14 General purpose timers.

3.18 cpp
Control input for low speed contactor (GLS) and for door close relay (DCR). See 2.3 Main diagram.
It must be closed to GND:
- When car is parking at floor and doors are not closing, otherwise after 6 seconds elevator shuts down with fault 46 code.
The elevator goes back to normal service when ‘cpp’ input is closed.
It must be opened:
- In low speed in TRACTION elevator and during all the travel in HYDRAULIC elevator. In other words when P output is on,
otherwise after 6 seconds the elevator shuts down with fault 52 code.
- During doors closing, otherwise the elevator shuts down with fault 54 code. Door control features and fault 54 can be
disabled with 2 or 3 at adr.32. In this case the N/C contact of door close relay (DCR) in series to ‘cpp’ input is not
needed. (Except for MULTIPLEX elevators, where DCR’ contact in series to cpp input is always needed).
See also 2.4 Control inputs and section 5.11 Doors.

3.19 CRP
Common line input for door relays. See 2.3 Main diagram.

AMCS ELETTRONICA AM1 User Manual 25

3.20 CS
Car door contacts input. Must be connected after car door contacts (see 2.3 Main diagram). When a positive voltage (safety
chain voltage) is applied to this input, it means that car doors are closed and AM1 board can activate car movement
contactors.
When a new call is registered and the car is trying to leave a floor, if CS input stays opened for more than the maximum
time in leaving a floor (adr.5) from the beginning of door closing, the AM1 board shuts down with the current floor number
flashing on the display (0-31 faults). The doors are opened and all calls are cancelled.
The elevator has the same behaviour outside the floor, so if it fails to leave its current position, it starts flashing on the display
the car position number storing the value in the fault list.
NOTE: If the failure in leaving a floor happens during power reset operation, the fault displayed and stored in memory is 53.
In any case, after 5 seconds a new call can be registered and the elevator can try to start a new travel.

3.21 CS1 / RU
CS1 input and RU output can have two operating modes:
- Control I/O for safety circuit by-pass module
CS1 and RU are used to check the correct operation of the safety circuit by-pass module. Do not add 16 at adr.94 to
enable this feature. CS1 input is a normally open input (must close outside floor), but can be set as N/C adding 32 at
adr.34. See section 6.1 Safety circuit by-pass module.
- TIMER1
CS1 input and RU output are used togheter for ‘TIMER1’ general puprose timer. To enable this feature add 16 at adr.94.
See section 5.14 General purpose timers.

3.22 CT
Common line input for car movement contactors. It must be connected at the end of all safety contacts (see 2.3 Main
diagram). It’s not processed by AM1 software, it simply supplys positive voltage to contactor coils. So if safety chain voltage
doesn’t reach CT input for any reason, the AM1 board enables its car movement outputs (S, D, G and P) but external
contactors can’t activate.
When this condition is true, ‘tsd’ control input is closed while the car should be in movement, so after 6 seconds the elevator
shuts down with fault 49 code (if S output was enabled) or fault 50 code (if D output was enabled).

3.23 D / S
Relay outputs used for driving direction contactors. D = Down direction contactor (KD), S = Up direction contactor (KU). See
sections: 2.4 Control inputs, 3.55 tsd and 6.4 Car direction control.

3.24 DIF
This output has two operating modes:
- Fault signal
When a fault is present the DIF output is activated. To enable this feature do not add 1 at adr.95. DIF output is activated
immediately after a fault of type ‘B’, ‘C’ or ‘D’. In case of faults of type ‘A’ it is activated after the second time thesame fault
comes out. DIF is activated immediately also when the alarm button is pushed (outside floor or at floor but with closed car
door).
- Fifth bit (E) for binary or Gary encoding of car position number
When 1 is added at adr.95, DIF output is the 5° bit for car position indicat ors that need binary or Gray encoding in
elevators with more than 16 floors. See section 7.1.1 Car position indicators.
- Re-levelling signal output:
When a re-leveling operation is taking place, DIF output is activated. To enable this feature, add 16 at adr.28. See
section 8.1 Re-levelling operation.

3.25 DS
This output can drive a standard serial display. It can be negated adding 8 at adr.96. See section 7.1.1 Car position
indicators.

3.26 Em
Input for power emergency operation. See section 8.3 Emergency operation.

26 AM1 User Manual AMCS ELETTRONICA

NOTE: Em input is internally connected to the UP button of the removable PROG1 keypad. Putting Em to ground when in
PRESET mode is the same as pushing the Up button on PROG1. See section 4.1 Preset mode.

3.27 EXC
Overtravel contact input. Connect this input at the beginning of the sfaty chain line. See 2.3 Main diagram.
If this input stays opened for more than 2 seconds, the elevator shuts down with fault 81 code.
The elevator can act as follows:
- If permanet faults are of ‘instant stop’ type (2 or 3 at adr.29): the elevator shuts down immediately with fault 81 code. No
more calls can be registered and the car can’t move (even if EXC is closed back).
- If permanet faults are of ‘stop after return to lowest floor’ type (0 or 1 at adr.29): the car is sent to floor zero (bottom
floor) then the elevator shuts down with fault 81 code. No more calls can be registered.
The elevator can be reset to normal service only closing the EXC input and pushing the SPEEDY button on PROG1 keypad.
Fault 81 can be changed in type ‘A’ fault, so that can be reset automatically when a new call is registered. To enable this
feature, put an odd value at adr.6.
NOTE: Fault 81 code is displayed also when there is a power failure and the safety chain power supply is lost. Therefore
when there is a power failure, Em input must be closed to ground (GND) to disable fault 81.

3.28 FD / FS
Up/down car direction signal (arrows) outputs for fixtures and car operating panel. See section 7.2 Car direction.

3.29 FS3
This input has two operating modesr:
- General contact control
Used to check that a special contact switches at least one time during one or more travels from bottom floor (IRD bottom
reset switch) to top floor (IRS top reset switch). So, if in one or more travels the car goes from the bottom to the top floor
(or vice versa) and FS3 input never goes to ground, the elevator shuts down with fault 62 code.
To enable this feature do not add 32 at adr.94 (TIMER2 must be disabled).
If this feature is not needed, but TIMER2 must be disabled for other reasons (for ex. nudging door or DUPLO elevator),
fault 62 code can be disabled simply connecting FS3 input togheter with IF input.
- TIMER2
FS3 input is used togheter with CPF output for ‘TIMER2’ general purpose timer. To enable this feature add 32 at adr.94.
See section 5.14 General purpose timers.

3.30 FSER
Output for out of service signal. FSER is enabled when one of the following conditions is true:
- There is a fault
- Inspection operation is taking place
- PRESET mode is active
- Power reset operation is taking place

3.31 G (High speed) / P (Low speed)

Relay outputs for speed contactors. G = High speed contactor (KHS), P = Low speed contactor (KLS). See 2.3 Main diagram.
Normally closed contacts of KHS and KLS must be put in series to “apg” and “cpp” control inputs. See section: 3.8 apg, 3.18
cpp, 2.4 Control inputs.

3.31.1 G output delay

In HYDRAULIC elevator, G output activation can be delayed by a time (in tenth of a second) that can be set at adr.10 (TST).
To enable this feature put a value between 70 and 99 at adr.10. The delay time is equal to value minus 70.
For example: if you set TST=78, the delay time is equal to 78-70=8ds. To disable this delay time of G output activation, put
70 at adr.10.

AMCS ELETTRONICA AM1 User Manual 27

3.31.2 P output
P output has several behaviours according to TST value (adr.10) and elevator type (traction or hydraulic):

TST = from 0 to 69 TST = from 70 to 99

Traction P = low speed P always ON.
Hydraulic P/ST = star/delta outputs (time in ds) P always ON and G output delayed by TST-70 ds

3.32 GONG
This output provides an audio signal to inform waiting passengers of the arrival of the elevator car at each floor. See section
5.6 GONG operating mode.

3.33 GND
Ground reference input for board power and for all external devices powered by the board. It’s not internally connected to
OM (see section 3.43 OM) in order to allow final circuit isolating tests. See section 2.2.1 Power.

3.34 I0-I4
Serial inputs for CAPE and/or PEXP board wirings. See sections: 1.5 CAPE board wiring (for car signals), 1.6 CAPE board
wiring (for hoistway signals) and 1.7 PEXP board wiring (for hoistway signals).

3.35 IF / ICV
Inputs for hoistway magnetic sensor switches (car at floor signal and slowdown signal).
They can be set to work with either normally opened or normally closed magnetic sensors. To have normally closed
switches (so that IF/ICV inputs are opened when car is at floor) add 1 at adr.33 otherwise they are N/O inputs.
Magnetic tapes (magnets) can be arranged in the hoistway following two layouts. (NOTE: these two layouts will be
referenced afterwards as ‘IF/ICV’ layout and ‘ID/IU’ layout). To set magnet layout as ‘IF/ICV’ add 2 at adr.33 otherwise the
layout is of ‘ID/IU’ type.
The following diagram shows the magnetic tape layout in the hoistway and the zones that they define:
IF ICV ID IU

switch magnet At the top floor the diagram is
the same but mirrored, there is
Floor 0
IRS (top reset switch magnet)
OVERTRAVEL instead of IRD switch.

ATTENTION: in case of ID/IU layout each magnet must be installed following the above diagram, for example is not a good
idea to put slowdown magnets on the same line because in some elevator configurations they can cause malfunctions.
NOTE: Each magnetic tape must be long enough so that, when the car is travelling on it, the corresponding magnetic
sensor (switch) is activated for a time greater than 60 milliseconds. In the same way, the minimum distance between
each magnet must be long enough so that the magnetic sensor is deactivated for a time greater than 100 milliseconds.
Example: at 1m/s speed, each magnetic tape must be at least 6cm long and the minimum distance between two magnetic
tapes must be at least 10cm long.
NOTE: The FLOOR ZONE (ID and IU overlapping zone) can be very short, even few millimeters long. (Thanks to a
special algorithm processed inside the AM1 board).
If AM1 board doesn’t see at least one switching of IF input and ICV input in one or more travels from the bottom floor to the
top floor (from IRD to IRS and vice versa), after 10 seconds from the arrival to top or bottom floor the elevator shuts down
with fault 42 code (if IF input didn’t switch) or with fault 43 code (if ICV input didn’t switch). These two faults are disabled if

28 AM1 User Manual AMCS ELETTRONICA

elevator has only two floors. See sections: 6.7 Door zone, 5.4 Car delayed stop at floor, 5.10 Close floors and slowdown
selection.

3.36 INT
Indepedent service input. It’s a normally opened input, but can be set as N/C input adding 16 at adr.34. See section 8.4
Independent service.

3.37 IRD / IRS

Input for limit reset switch (magnetic sensor) of top and bottom floor. These inputs work with normally closed magnetic
sensors, so IRD or IRS input must be OPENED when car is at top or bottom floor. IRD = bottom reset switch input, IRS
top reset switch input.
Magnetic tapes for reset switches must be installed so that they start after some centimeters from slowdown magnets.
This distance must be long enough so that the reset switch is activated after at least 100 milliseconds from slowdown (Ex. if
speed is 1m/s, the minimum distance must be 10cm).
When they don’t work properly, the elevator shuts down with:
- Fault 41 code: when IRD and IRS switches are both opened. Car starts slowdown immediately and at low speed stops
at first floor zone it encounters (IF or ID/IU zone). The car acts in this way in all service modes, also during inspection
operation (but in this case fault 41 code is not displayed). This fault is of type ‘B’, so new calls can’t be registered and the
car stays idle at floor until the fault is repaired.
- Fault 44 code: if the car reaches top or bottom floor and IRS or IRD don’t open (stays to ground), it stops regularly and
then it’s sent automatically to the opposite top or bottom floor. If the car reaches for the second time top or bottom floor
and IRS or IRD don’t open, the car stops regulaly then the elevator shuts down with fault fault 44 code.
Fult 44 is displayed only if the elevator is normal service (it’s disabled during inspection operation, emergency operation
and Fire service).

3.38 KE/KI
Serial clock output for CAPE and PEXP boards. KE output must be used with CAPE or PEXP board (wiring for hoistway
signals), KI output must be used with CAPE board (wiring for car signals).
NOTE: These outputs don’t have a full time protection from surge current/voltage. So they are protected from short circuit
only for few milliseconds.
See sections: 1.5 CAPE board wiring (for car signals), 1.6 CAPE board wiring (for hoistway signals) and 1.7 PEXP board
wiring (for hoistway signals).

3.39 MAN
Inspection operation input. It’s a normally open input, but can be set as N/C input adding 32 at adr.96. See section 8.7
Inspection operation.

3.40 M0-M15
I/O multi-purpose terminals as described in table 1.4. On the same wire you can have both car/landing call push button
input signal and corresponding call accept light output signal.
NOTE: Each I/O terminal has a full time surge-protection from short circuit up to Imax=0,5A, Vmax=35 VDC.

3.41 NOS
This input has three operating modes:
- No car homing
When automatic car homing feature is enabled at adr.83, NOS input can be used to disable temporarily the car homing
operation simply putting it to ground. To enable this feature do not add 2 at adr.94, otherwise this input is used for the
third side door or for the fire recall alternate floor selection. See section 5.13 Automatic car homing.
- Photocell (electric eye) or safety edge for third side door (CM3)
To enable this feature add 2 at adr.94, See section 5.5 Photocell (Electric eye) & door safety edge.
- Fire recall alternate floor selection
See section 8.10 Fire service.

AMCS ELETTRONICA AM1 User Manual 29

3.42 OCC (OCC relay)
‘Car in use’ signal output. It’s a normally open contact of the on-board OCC relay. When OCC relay is ON this output is
closed to ground. See section 7.4 Car in use signal.

3.43 OM
Ground reference input for safety chain line. It must be connected to GND terminal after final circuit isolating tests. See
section 2.3 Main diagram.

3.44 PAP
Door open push button input. Door opening it’s allowed when car is inside door zone and the car is not in travel. This input is
enabled also during inspection operation. See section 6.7 Door zone.

3.45 PATT
This output has two operating modes:
- Retiring cam
To enable this feature, do not add 2 at adr.94. See section 5.9 Retiring cam.
- Third side door opening
To enable this feature add 2 at adr.94. See section 5.11 Doors.

3.46 PCP
Door close push button input. When this button is pushed or a car call button is pushed, TAP waiting time is reset (if the door
is opening, TAP is reset at the end of door opening) and the car can start a new travel immediately. See section 5.8
Immediate leaving.
NOTE: PCP input is internally connected to the DOWN button of the removable PROG1 keypad. Putting PCP to ground
when in PRESET mode is the same as pushing the DOWN button on PROG1. See section 4.1 Preset mode.

3.47 PDM / PSM

Up/down car direction push button input for inspection operation. See section 8.7 Inspection operation.

3.48 RES
Alarm reset button input. See section 5.7 Alarm (Italian Law 13).

3.49 SA
Flashing light alarm signal output. It’s activated after alarm button is pushed. See section 5.7 Alarm (Italian Law 13).

3.50 SAR
Fixed light alarm recieved signal output. See section 5.7 Alarm (Italian Law 13).

3.51 SCP
This output has three operating modes:
- Car at floor signal
This output is activated when car is at floor (floor zone). To enable this feature do not add 1 at adr.96.
- Very close floors
To enable this feature add 1 at adr.96. See section 5.10.1 Very close floors.
- Far landing signal
To enable this feature add 8 at adr.33. See section 7.7 Far landing .

30 AM1 User Manual AMCS ELETTRONICA

3.52 SNR
This output has two operating modes:
- Overload buzzer sound
To enable this feature do not add 2 at adr.95. See section 6.3 Movable platform.
- Reference number of travels exceeded signal
To enable this feature add 2 at adr.95. See section 4.3.1 Reference number of travels.

3.53 ST (P relay)
‘Delta’ contactor output drive for hydraulic elevator. It’s the normally closed contact of the on-board P relay. When the timer
TST (at adr.10) has a value from 0 to 69 and the elevator is hydraulic, P and ST outputs can be used to drive Star/Delta
contactors. When a car travel starts, P output (Star contactor) is activated immediately, then after TST time (in ds) on-board
P relay drops and ST output is activated (Delta contactor). See section 2.4.4 Control inputs.

3.54 TM
PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) thermistor input for engine temperature control. See section 6.6 Engine temperature.

3.55 tsd
Control input for up direction contactor (KU) and down direction contactor (KD). Two normally closed contacts of KU and KD
contactors must be put in series to this input. See 2.3 Main diagram.
Must be closed to GND:
- When the elevator is not in movement.
When the car is parking at the floor or outside the floor and ‘tsd’ input is opened for more than 10 seconds, the elevator
shuts down with fault 47 code. This fault is of type ‘B’, so new calls can’t be registered. The elevator goes back to normal
service when ‘tsd’ input is closed.
- In order to switch in PRESET mode
- Before each new car travel can start
Must be opened:
- When elevator is in movement.
If ‘tsd’ input doesn’t open when AM1 board activates S or D output, after 6 seconds the elevator shuts down with fault 49
code (for KU contactor failure) or fault 50 code (for KD contactor failure). The door is opened and all car/landing calls are
cancelled. After 5 seconds, a new call can be registered and the car can try to start a new travel.
If during a travel there is a bounce on tsd input and it’s closed for less than 6 seconds, the only effect is that TMC time is
reset (Maximum travel time between two floors at adr.6), but if ‘tsd’ input is closed for more than 6 seconds the elevator
stops immediately and shuts down with fault 49 or 50 code. After 5 seconds a new attempt can be done.
See 2.4 Control inputs and section 6.4 Car direction control.

3.56 U0-U7
Multi-purpose outputs. Mainly used for serial signal outputs for CAPE/PEXP/SER32 boards or for discrete car position signal
outputs. See table 1.4 M0-M15 input/output and U0-U7 assignement.

3.57 V0 / V12
Controller board power inputs. NOTE: It’s recommended to connect these inputs to a transformer with at least 13V AC +/-
15% output voltage. See section 2.2.1 Power.

3.58 VB
Trainsistor output used in hydraulic elevator to drive three types of valves (See section 5.16 Valves):
- ‘Up’ valve: To enable this feature set 0 or 2 at adr.17
- ‘Beringer/Bucher Hydraulics’ valve: To enable this feature set 1 or 3 at adr.17
- ‘Soft-Stop’ valve: To enable this feature set add 32 at adr.33 (this override adr.17)
VB can be used for Inverter Enabling Relay (4, 8, 12, 16 or 20 is add at adr.30). In this case valves are disabled. See
section 5.18 Inverter.

AMCS ELETTRONICA AM1 User Manual 31

3.59 VIM
Battery backed 12V power output for auxiliary boards (CAPE/PEXP/SER32). This output can supply 12V DC also when
there is a blackout (power failure) supposing that a battery is connected to GND/BAT terminals. This output can supply 0,5A
current max.

3.60 X / Y
Serial I/O terminals for CM board wiring (multiplex elevator). They are also physically connected to RX/TX signals of the
RS232 connector for PC parameters adjustement and monitoring. So when connecting the PC, X and Y must be
disconnected to avoid any collision. Y output is surge-protected only for few milliseconds. See CM board User Manual for
more details.

3.61 DATO button (on PROG1 board)

This button acts as follows when pushed:
- In PRESET mode (memory programming): the value stored at the selected memory address is displayed. See section
4.1 PRESET.
- In normal service: on-board help information codes are displayed. See section 1.3 On-board help information codes.
- Togheter with SPEEDY button (when not in preset mode): fault list codes are displayed in sequence. See table 1.1
Fault list and section 7.5 Fault list analysis.

3.62 DOWN button (on PROG1 board)

This button acts as follows when pushed:
- In PRESET mode (memory programming): the value displayed is decreased (at slow speed). See section 4.1 PRESET.
- In normal service:
1) Alone: it’s the same as closing PCP input (because they are physically connected togheter).
2) Togheter with SPEEDY button for at least 2 seconds, the elevator starts automatic call loop (to all floors). This
loop will last for BAT time (set at adr.13). See section 8.9 Automatic call loop.
3) Togheter with DATO button for at least 2 seconds, the elevator starts automatic call loop (only to top and
bottom floor). This loop will last for BAT time (set at adr.13). See section 8.9 Automatic call loop.

3.63 SPEEDY button (on PROG1 board)

This button acts as follows when pushed:
- In PRESET mode (memory programming): if pushed togheter with UP or DOWN button, the increasing or decreasing of
the displayed value is speeded up. See section 4.1 PRESET.
- In normal service:
1) If there is a permanent fault (64, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84 or 85): a MANUAL RESET of the elevator can be done, so that
it can go back to normal service.
2) Togheter with DATO button: fault list codes are displayed in sequence. See table 1.1 Fault list and section 7.5
Fault list analysis.
3) Togheter with the DOWN button for at least 2 seconds, the elevator starts automatic call loop (to all floors).
This loop will last for BAT time (set at adr.13). See section 8.9 Automatic call loop.

3.64 UP button (on PROG1 board)

This button acts as follows when pushed:
- In PRESET mode: the value displayed is increased (at slow speed). See section 4.1 PRESET.
- In normal service: it’s the same as closing Em input (because they are physically connected togheter).

3.65 PRESET switch (on PROG1 board)

Switch to PRESET mode for memory adjustements. See section 4.1 PRESET.

32 AM1 User Manual AMCS ELETTRONICA

4. PROGRAMMING MODE
4.1 PRESET
In order to put the elevator controller in preset mode and start memory adjustement, the PROG1 board must be plugged into
the AM1, power must be supplied through V0-V12 terminals, ‘tsd’ input must be closed to ground, DATO, SPEEDY, UP and
DOWN buttons must be released (also PCP and Em inputs must be opened because are physically connected to UP and
DOWN buttons) and PRESET switch must be set high on PROG1 board. If all these conditions are true, after 3 seconds AM1
enters preset mode.
At the beginning of preset mode:
1) If a fixed ‘0’ appears: everything is ok and normal preset mode is entered. 100 memory addresses are available and
can be selected with UP or DOWN buttons (‘UP’ to increase, ‘DOWN’ to decrease address value). SPEEDY button can be
pushed togheter with UP or DOWN button to speed up the address scrolling. The value stored at a specific address can be
displayed pushing the DATO button alone. To change the value at an address, push DATO togheter with UP or DOWN.
When DATO button is released, a new value is stored in memory (only if different from the previous one) and if it flashes
three times it means that it has been saved in memory succesfully. SPEEDY button can also be used togheter with DATO
button to speed up the value scrolling.
2) If a flashing number between ‘16’ and ‘49’ appears: it means that memory address has stored a wrong value: a new
value can be saved simply pushing DATO button togheter with UP or DOWN as in normal preset mode. Available range for
each of these addresses is shown in table 1.2 Memory adjustement table. When all wrong values ar corrected, address 0 is
displayed as in normal preset mode. If a wrong value at an address can’t be changed, it means thet the on-board non
volaty memory is defective and must be changed.
At the end of preset mode:
- If fault 58 code is displayed after exiting preset mode, it means that a wrong value was stored at one or more addresses.
Going back to preset mode, we will have the behaviour descriped at point (2
NOTE: If a wrong microprocessor chip is plugged in the AM1 board (one of another customer), fault 59 code is displayed.

Example: ADJUSTING VALUE ‘4’ AT ADDRESS ‘10’

1) Switch to PRESET mode
2) Push UP button until ‘10’ is displayed
3) Push DATO and, while keeping it pushed, push UP and/or DOWN until the value ‘4’ is displayed.
4) Release DATO. The value ‘4’ flashes three times then address ‘10’ is displayed again (saved in memory successfully).

4.2 Access codes

Access codes are two values stored at address 48 and 49 (each from 0 to 99). They protect AM1 memory from writing
operatinons. The only memory addresses that can be protected are: 45, 46 and 47 (that togheter are the remainig number
of travels). Addresses 48 and 49 are protected too, for obviously reasons and are also not visible to user (the value that is
always displayed when they are locked is 0). To change them and the remaining number of travels, the access codes must
be unloked first. To unlock access code, their values must be entered at address 48 and 49.
Anyway they are always unlocked in the following cases:
- Access codes are equal to ‘0’ at adr.48 and ’0’ at adr.49.
- Access codes are equal to ’10’ at adr.48 and ‘10’ at adr.49. After the first time that these values are stored as access
codes, the memory can’t be protected anymore forever.
The default factory values for access codes are CDAC1=0 and CDAC2=0 at addresses 48 and 49 respectively.
NOTE: When at least one of the two codes is odd: in presence of a fault of type ‘B’, ‘C’ or ‘D’, if board power is removed
and then supplied again, the car answers correctly to the first call then the elevator shuts down with fault 57 code. To reset
the elevator and cancel the fault, you must switch to PRESET mode and enter access codes again. If entered access codes
are wrong, the elevator will acts as described before.

Example: STORING IN A NEW AM1 BOARD (so with access codes = ‘0’ and ‘0’) THE ACCESS CODES ’11’ AND ‘25’
1) Switch to PRESET mode.
2) Push UP button until ‘48’ address is displayed.
7) Push DATO and, while keeping it pushed, push UP until ‘11’ value is displayed, then release DATO. The value ‘11’
should flash 3 times, to confirm the memory right saving.
4) Push UP until ‘49’ address is diplayed.
9) Push DATO and, while keeping it pushed, push UP until ‘25’ value is displayed, then release DATO. The value ‘25’
should flash 3 times to confirm the memory right saving.
10) Exit PRESET mode. Now, the new access codes are ‘11’ and ‘25’.

AMCS ELETTRONICA AM1 User Manual 33

Example: STORING IN AN AM1 BOARD WITH CODES ‘3’ AND ‘45’, THE NEW ACCESS CODES ’7’ AND ‘8’
1) Switch to PRESET mode.
2) Push UP until ‘48’ address is displayed.
3) Push DATO and, keeping it pushed, push UP until ‘3’ value is displayed. Release DATO (nothing flashes).
4) Push UP until ‘49’ address is diplayed.
5) Push DATO and, keeping it pushed, push UP until ‘45’ value is displayed. Release DATO (nothing flashes).
6) Go back to address 48.
7) Push DATO and, keeping it pushed, push UP until ‘7’ value is diplayed. Release DATO. ‘7’ value flashes 3 times.
8) Go to address 49.
9) Push DATO and, keeping it pushed, push UP until ‘8’ value is diplayed. Release DATO. ‘8’ value flashes 3 times.
10) Exit PRESET mode. Now, the new access codes are ‘7’ and ‘8’.

4.3 Number of travels countdown

A limited number of travels can be set in memory so that when it’s exceeded the elevator shuts down with fault 63 code.
After that, the elevator can go back to normal service only if a new number of travels is set in memory.
NOTE: Number of travels can be protected by writing operations with access codes at addresses 48 and 49.
For ‘travel’ we mean each leaving in high speed. So, if the car stops outside a floor (ex. when ALT button is pushed) and
then it starts again in high speed, this is counted as a new travel.
The remaining number of travels can always be displayed, even when it’s protected by access codes. The addresses at
which it must be sored are:
- 45 = contains HUNDREDS and TENS OF THOUSANDS of the number of travels.
- 46 = contains THOUSANDS and HUNDREDS of the number of travels.
- 47 = contains TENS and UNITS of the number of travels.
To disable permanently the decreasing of the remaining number of travels, put 99 at address 45. Fault 63 will never
appear and the elevator will never shuts down because of the number of travels expiring.

Example: ENTER A NUMBER OF TRAVELS = 75.460

1) Switch to PRESET mode. If AM1 borad has access codes equal to 0-0 or 10-10 go to point 6, otherwise to point 2.
2) Push UP until address 48 is displayed.
3) Push DATO and, keeping it pushed, push UP until the value of the 1° Access Code is displayed. Release DATO .
4) Push UP to go to address 49.
5) Push DATO and, keeping it pushed, push UP until the value of the 2° Access Code is displayed. Release DATO .
6) Now the new number of travels can be set:
7) Go to address 45 end enter ‘07’ value.
8) Go to address 46 end enter ‘54’ value.
9) Go to address 47 end enter ‘60’ value.

Example: ENTER AN INFINITE NUMBER OF TRAVELS

1) Follow points 1) 5) of the previous example.
2) Go to address 45 and enter ‘99’ value.
3) Values at addresses 46 and 47 can be any.

4.3.1 Reference number of travels

At addresses 87 and 88 (MCR and DUR) a reference number of travels can be set so that, when the remaining number of
travels (adr.45, 46 and 47) is lesser, the SNR output is activated.
To enable this feature add 2 at adr.95 (Overload buzzer on SNR output must be disabled).

Example: SNR ACTIVATED WHEN 1.250 TRAVELS MISS

1) Switch to PRESET mode.
2) Go to address 95 and add ‘2’ value if not present yet (to enble reference number of travels feature).
3) Go to address 87 and enter ‘12’ value.
4) Go to address 88 and enter ‘50’ value.

4.4 PC Programming (LIFT PRO Software)
All memory parameters of the AM1 board can be adjusted connecting the board to a personal computer. AM1 must be
powered through V0-V12 terminals and then a serial cable must be connected between a COM port of the PC and the RS232
port of the AM1.
On the PC side, Lift Pro software must be installed correctly.
This software has the following features:
A) Management of connections to AM1: locally (serial port) or remotly (with GSM modem TC1 card or through internet with
WIZ ethernet module)
B) Memory adjustement of all elevator parameters.
C) Remote monitoring setting in order to send SMS/Email warning messages.
D) Real-time monitoring of elevator signals (inputs, outputs and calls).
E) Real-time monitoring of faults and of fault list.
V12 AM1
12V AC
System requirements: V0

Lift Pro software needs Microsoft Windows 98 or

later.
PC connection:
AM1 board can be connected to a PC in two ways:
1) Direct connection with a serial cable: use a straight serial cable (MODEM type) and plug it between the AM1 RS232
port and a serial COM port of the PC.
2) Remote connection: on GSM network (with TC1 modem card) or through internet or LAN ethernet (IP/TCP protocol
with WIZ110SR ethernet module).
Memory adjustement of all elevator parameters:
Lift Pro software allows to menage files (create, edit, save, print and compare) that contains all parameters available in the
AM1 memory. Once connected to AM1, these files can be sent to or read from the boar.
Remote monitoring setting in order to send SMS/Email warning messages:
Each AM1 board when used togheter with TC1 card (which is equipped with a GSM/GPRS modem module), can be fully
configured to send SMS/TXT and EMAIL messages when a fault is present. Each fault can be adjusted in order to send or
not the warning message at up to 4 mobile phones and to an email address.
Real-time monitoring of elevator signals (inputs, outputs and calls):
Once connected with the AM1 board you can monitor in real time the status of main board inputs and outputs and the status
all car/landing calls. New calls can be registered too. Two pages are available for real-time monitoring: one with a simplified
graphic view of the elevator hoistway, car, doors and main signals; the other with a detailed view of all inputs and outputs of
the board with their status description.
Real-time monitoring of faults and of fault list:
If an elevator fault is present, it’s displayed with its code and description. All stored faults can be analysed and the faul list is
displayed with the code number of each fault with its corresponding description.
Manual reset of permanet faults and cancellation of fault list can be done remotely.

5. ELEVATOR FEATURES
5.1 Door pre - opening
Car door pre-opening operation can be done installing at each floor a magnetic tape of the required length and using a
magnetic sensor connected to APA input. The car door pre-opening starts when the following conditions become true:
- The car is slowing-down (so it’s in low speed)
- APA input is closed
- One of IU or ID magnets is encountered
If these conditions are true, the car door starts opening even though CS input is still opened.
To enable door pre-opening feature do not add 4 at adr.94 (otherwise APA input is used for re-levelling zone).
NOTE: A safety circuit by-pass module must be used to by-pass car door contacts so that the car can reach the floor
(otherwise power to movement contactors is lost). To activate the safety circuit by-pass module when door pre-opening is
starting, RU output can be used (To enable RU output to drive safety circuit module, do not add 16 at adr.94, so that TIMER1
feature is disabled). In this case, pay attention that CS1 input works as descriped in section 6.1 Safety circuit by-pass module
otherwise fault 83 could be displayed.
This feature is disabled during inspection operation and automatic car homing operation.

5.2 Battery
A 12V battery can be connected to the board to keep power in case of blackout. Positive battery terminal must be connected
to BAT input and negative battery terminal to GND input. In this way alarm signal (Italian Law 13) and emergency operation
can still be accomplished.
The AM1 board is equipped with an internal battery charger (that can supply max 500 mA to the battery). When normal
power is on, the battery is charged through the BAT output. NOTE: in order to have a full battery charge is important that no
direct loads are connected to BAT output. If you have some loads that must be powered by battery connect them to VIM
output (not directly to the battery). CAUTION: VIM output can supply max 0,5A.
NOTE: Battery can be detached after a default time that can be set at adr.13 (BAT time from 0 to 98 minutes). This timer is
started when Em input is closed to ground. This timer is reset each time the alarm button is pushed and when Em input is
opened. See 8.3 Emergency operation.
Battery detaching can be disabled with 99 at adr 13.
NOTE: When there is a power failure battery keeps powered AM1 and all devices connected to VIM output, but safety chain
line power is lost. When safety chain line positive voltage is lost, AM1 sees EXC input (overtravell) closed to ground and
displays fault 81. To avoid this situation Em input must be closed to ground within two seconds from the power failure.
NOTE: AM1 can’t be turned on directly by the battery (BAT output is enabled only after 5 seconds from regular V0-V12 power
on).

5.3 Serial or discrete wiring

Car and hoistway signals can be connected to AM1 board in two ways: serial or discrete wiring.
- Discrete wiring (set 0 or 1 at adr.17)
Each signal is connected directly with one wire to the AM1 board.
- Serial wiring (set 2 or 3 at adr.17)
Only 5 wires must run along the hoistway (3 for data exchange and 2 for power). AM1 can comunicate with several
expansion serial cards: CAPE (16 inputs/16 outputs), PEXP (landing module), SER32 (32 I/O terminals plus LCD
display). Serial comunication is of synchronous type, all expansion cards have the same three serial terminals: DO (data
output), DI (data input) and CK (clock input). DI input can be connected to 8 outputs of the AM1 (U0-U7) and DO output
can be connected to 5 inputs of the AM1 (I0-I4) according to the functions you want to assign to each output and input of
the expansion card. See sections: 1.5 CAPE board wiring (for car signals), 1.6 CAPE board wiring (for hoistway signals)
and 1.7 PEXP board wiring (for hoistway signals), 9 Expansion cards.
NOTE: M0-M15 input/output of AM1 are enabled also when serial communication is active so if needed they can be
always used. See section 1.4 M0-M15 input/output and U0-U7 assignement.

36 AM1 User Manual AMCS ELETTRONICA

5.4 Car delayed stop at floor
The car arrival at floor can be delayed by a RIF time that can be set at adr.11 up to a maximum of 4 seconds in step of 4 cs
(hundredth of a second). This time is the delay of contactors drop after the car enters door zone (IF or IU+ID zone). If well
trimmed, it allows decreasing the number of re-levelling operations.
If this delay time is too long, so that the car goes over floor zone, the elevator shuts down wtih fault 66 code.
NOTE: RIF time is reset in the following conditions:
- During emergency operation
- In high speed (KHS)
- In V3P or V4P (when high speed configuration is enabled)
- In close floors, when the car passes through the floor where it doesn’t have to stop.
- During inspection operation (where fault 66 is also disabled)

5.5 Photocell and door safety edge

AM1 can manage up to 3 door sides. For each side a photocell (electric eye) or door safety edge input can be used. CM1 =
input for door 1, CM2 = input for door 2 and NOS (when enabled) = input for door 3.
These inputs are normally closed and act as follows when the car is at floor:
- If doors are closing: when one of these three input is opened, corresponding door closing is stopped
immediately and the door is opened back after TRA time (door open delay time can be set at adr.4 and can range from 2
to 45 ds)
- If doors are already closed: these inputs are disabled.
Usually these inputs are enabled only with automatic or semi-automatic door type and when the car is opening the doors at
the floor. However, these inputs can be also enabled when the car is outside floor zone or when doors are already
closed or with manual-operated doors. To enable this feature add 8 at adr.31. If this feature is enabled, photocell (electric
eye) breaking has the following results:
- In SAPB elevator or automatic DOMUS elevator: the car is stopped and the registered call is cancelled.
- In manually operated DOMUS elevator: car stops immediately. Call push button and photocell must be
released in order to allow the car to start a new travel.
- In full/down collective simplex: is the same as pushing the car STOP button.
SPECIAL FEATURE: Elevator without car door feature. Can be enabled adding 16 at adr.26 and the elevator will act as
follows when the photocell is break:
- In SAPB elevator or automatic DOMUS elevator: outside floor zone the car is stopped and then only car call
buttons are enabled to register a new call (until the arrival to the floor).
- In manually operated DOMUS elevator: the car stops immediately. The car can restart immediately without the
releasing of the call button (photocell must be released).
- In full/down collective simplex: is the same as pushing the car STOP button.
NOTES:
- Outputs used to drive door opening of each side are: AP = door opening of side 1, AP2 = door opening of side 2 and
PATT = door opening of side 3.
- It is not needed to connect to ground the photocell inputs of unused doors
- To enable third door input (NOS) add 2 adr.94

5.6 GONG operating mode

GONG sound pulse can be set to have several behaviours:
- 4 is added at adr.95 GONG output is activated when the car reaches the designated floor
- 4 is NOT added at adr.95 GONG output is activated at the beginning of car slowdown
- 8 is added at adr.95 GONG output is activated 2 times when the car is going downward (with an intervall of 1s)
- 8 is NOT added at adr.95 GONG output is activated 1 time when the car is going downward
The time length of the GONG pulse can be set at adr.0 and can range from 2 to 45 ds (TIG time).
NOTES: - In SAPB elevators: GONG pulse is always enabled both for car and landing call
- In full/down collective simplex: GONG pulse is only enabled for landing call. To enable it also for car call add
2 at adr.35.
- GONG output is activated also when car is parked at a floor with closed door and a call at that floor is registered.
The user is advised that the car is available and that the door is opening.

AMCS ELETTRONICA AM1 User Manual 37

5.7 Alarm (Italian Law 13)
After the car alarm button is pushed (it must be connected to A+ and A- terminals as shown in 2.3 Main diagram), the SA
output is activated intermittently (this output must drive a flashing light/lamp to advice that the alarm button has been
pushed).
To reset this flashing light, AR input must be closed to ground. So, AR input should be connected to a ‘Recieved alarm’ push
button.
After AR input is closed, SAR output is activated (this output should drive a fixed light symbol in the car that advices
entrapped users that the help request is acknowledged).
Finally, to exit the alarm condition and to turn off the car acknowledged alarm symbol, RES input must be closed to ground
(so connect it to an alarm reset push button).
NOTES: - The alarm condition is reset also if the car starts a regular travel
- Re-levelling operation and automatic car homing operation don’t reset the alarm condition
- If car is in floor zone, the door is opened
- If the car is moving SA and SAR output are disabled

5.8 Immediate leaving

This feature allows the cancellation of the waiting time (TAP at adr.2) that starts at the end of door opening in order to have
an immediate car leaving. When door close button (PCP input) or any of the car call button is pushed, the door (if fully
opened) starts closing immediately and the car can start a new travel without waiting for the TAP time to elapse.
NOTE: This feature is disabled on car call push buttons that have already a registered call.

5.9 Retiring cam

PATT output can be used to drive the retiring cam. To enable this feature do not add 2 at adr.94 (third door side must be
disabled).
Operating mode:
- It’s activated at the beginnig of the travel (even if the door is still opened)
- It’s deactivated at floor arrival (so the retiring cam drops at the beginning of floor zone)
The retiring cam drop can be delayed by a default time (that can be set at adr.15) in ds (tenth of a second). To enable this
feature add 32 at adr.32. NOTE: When this feature is enabled, TIMER2 is disabled even though 32 is added at adr.94.
TIP: If manual operated doors are enabled, output CP can be used to drive the retiring cam instead of PATT output.

5.10 Close floors and slowdown selection

5.10.1 Slowdown
DEFINITIONS: Normal slowdown: The car starts a regular slowdown when it encounters the slowdown zone of the target
floor.
Long slowdown: The slowdown is defined long when it must be longer than half floor. To solve this
problem the car starts the slowdown when it goes out from the slowdown zone of the previous floor to the
target one. See the diagram in section 3.35 IF/ICV.
The default slowdown sequence for all floors is set at adr.28. To enable long slowdown sequence for all floors, add 1 at adr.
28, otherwise the slowdown is normal for all floors.
Up to three couples of floors can be enabled to have a reverse slowdown to the one set at adr.28. These couples can be
selected at addresses 40, 41 and 42. The value that must be set at these addresses is the number of the low floor of the
couple + 50.
EXAMPLE: If normal slowdown is set for all floors (1 is not added at adr.28) and you want long slowdown between floor 1
and 2 and also between floors 4 and 5 set the following values:
- 51 at address 40 (50+1 for the first couple of floors with long slowdown)
- 54 at address 41 (50+4 for the second couple of floors with long slowdown)
NOTES: - Togheter with slowdown, the car position indication is changed.
- When reverse slowdown feature is enabled at one of the three adr. 40, 41 and 42, it’s important that the floor zone
of each floor is seen by the AM1 also when the car is travelling across each floor in high speed (so IF or IU+ID
switch must be enabled also in high speed).
- High speed configuration (V3P, V4P and V5P) can’t be enabled togheter with long slowdown.
- Contiguous couples of floors with reverse slowdown can be enabled (ex. floors 1-2 and 3-4).
- No selective multiple door feature can be set at floors that have long slowdown.

38 AM1 User Manual AMCS ELETTRONICA

5.10.2 Close floors
DEFINITION: Close floors: When the distance between two floors is smaller than normal they are defined ‘Close floors’.
At these floors the elevator must act differently than usual. These floors are always contiguous. When the
car starts a travel between them, the speed must be always the low one. When the car is coming from
another floor at high speed and it has to stop to the second floor of the couple, the car starts the slowdown
always in the slowdown zone of the first floor of the couple. In this way the slowdown zone can be long
enough to allow a right slowdown.
Up to three couples of close floors can be enabled. These couples can be selected at addresses 40, 41 and 42. The value
that must be set at these addresses is the number of the low floor of the couple.
NOTES: - When the car is tryng to reach the second floor of the couple, a delay time in the slowdown can be set at adr.8
(RCPV time in ds, tenth of a second). In this case the slowdown will not be too long.
- Couple of close floors can’t be set, when high speed configuration (V4P and V5P) is enabled.
- Selective multiple door feature can’t be set in close floors
- If the couple of close floors is the bottom or top one, two more reset switches must be used as shown below.

EXAMPLE: Two couples of close floors at extreme floors. Set 0 at adr.40, 3 at adr.41 and 99 at adr.42. One more couple
of reset magnetic tapes (IRS2 and IRD2) must be installed in the hoistway in order to force low speed without changing
car position indication.

TIP: If floors are so close that IS/ID switch can’t be installed, you can try with IF/ICV magnet layout. In this case, the AM1
board can’t activate re-levelling operation and so it must be driven by a dedicated external device.
The minimum length of each magnetic tape (that here we can define as IN-ZONE) must be long enough that when the car is
travelling on it, the corresponding switch (magnetic sensor) must be activated at least for a time greater than 60ms. In the
same way, the minimum distance between each magnetic tape (that here we can define as OUT-ZONE) must be greater
than 100ms.

EXAMPLE - At a speed of 60 cm/s, the minimum length of each IN-ZONE and OUT-ZONE is shown below:

As you can see, with IF/ICV magnet layout, a shorter distance is allowed between two close floors than the one with ID/IU
magnet layout.

5.10.3 Very close floors

DEFINITION: Very close floors: two floors are very close floors when the AM1 board considers them as an unique floor
with two selective multiple doors but physically they are not at the same floor (there is a small step between
them).
SCP output is used to signal before time which will be the door side to open. When the car reaches the floor and SCP output
is activated (the RLA relay in the following diagram), the door that will be opened is the one on side ‘A’, otherwise side ‘B’
door is opened.
To enable this feature add 1 at adr.96 (car at floor signal on SCP output is disabled.
The door opening side for the couple of very close floors must be set at the addresses used for selective multiple doors
adjustement. Also, which one of the two floors is the low floor of the couple must be set correctly. See section 5.11.6
Selective multiple doors.
For each door opening side there must be an IF switch (IFA and IFB). If at a floor the door must open on side ‘A’, the IFA
switch must be installed at that floor. If at a floor door must open on side ‘B’, the IFB switch must be installed at that floor. If at
a floor door must open on both side, both IFA and IFB switches must be installed at that floor.
NOTES: - When the car travels between two close floors TRA time is cancelled (no door open delay time is applied).
- Only ‘IF/ICV’ magnetic tape layout can be used.
- IF/ICV switches can be only of normally opened type.
- If the elevator is hydraulic, the re-levelling operation must be driven by an external device and it can last max 10
seconds otherwise fault 47 is displayed.

- TMA door open time must be long enough so that the car can travel in low speed between the two close floors
and then the door can be fully opened. If this time is to long for all the other floors, use door open final-limits.
- Contacts of Ra and Rb must be connected exactly as shown in the diagram otherwise TMA time can be wrongly

5.11 Doors
Doors opening and closing are ruled by some programmable time settings:
- TMA adr.1 (2-45 seconds): maximum time for doors opening. Doors opening is disabled immediately by its limit switch
only if more than 3 seconds are elapsed from the beginnig of the doors openning signal.
- TCH adr.3 (2-45 seconds): maximum time for doors closing. Doors close relay stays ON for still 1,5 seconds after the
complete doors closing, that is signalled by the safety chain power supply on CS input pin (it works as limit switch). TCH
time has to be greater or equal to the addition of the real time needed for doors closing plus 1,5 seconds. Doors closing
can stay enabled for all the travel programming 1 or 3 at adr.23 (DOOR OPERATOR ON).
- TRA adr.4 (2-45 tenths of a second): doors open delay at landing arrival. Doors opening starts after the TRA time from
arrival. If during door closing the photocell is obscured, the door closing stops and after TRA time the door is opened
again.
- TAP adr.2 (2-45 seconds): time during which the doors stay opened, that is elapsed time from the end of doors opening
and the beginning of the following doors closing. It’s also the time that elapses from the end of the doors opening of the
last service and the turning off of the ‘Car in use’ signal (if TOC time is zero at adr.9). If during doors opening ‘apg’ input
stays closed, TAP time starts from the beginning of doors opening instead of the end of doors opening.
Door checks (to have these checks enabled, they mustn’t be disabled at adr.32 and TAP waiting time, TMA doors opening
and TCH doors close times must be longer than 4 seconds):
- 54 fault: if external RCP doors closing relay is broken or wires are interrupted, cpp input doesn’t open. If this situation
stays for more than 4 seconds, doors open again, all calls are cancelled and 54 fault code is signalled.
If before the elapsing of 4 seconds the cpp input opens for at least 0,2 seconds, 54 fault code is not signalled.
After 5 seconds from the fault signalling, it’s possible to try again and if doors closing is successfully the fault is cancelled.
- 55 and 56 faults: if the doors don’t open, CS input pin stays powered. If this situation stays for more than 4 seconds, all
calls are cancelled and the following fault codes are signalled:
- if the external RAP door opening relay is broken, so that ‘apg’ input pin doesn’t open, 55 fault code is signalled.
- if ‘apg’ input opens it means that RAP relay is working, so door operator is defective and 56 fault code is signalled.
In any case, after 5 seconds from the fault signalling, it’s possible to try again and if doors opening is successfully, the
fault is cencelled.
In simplex elevators, in presence of at least one call and if door operator ON is not programmed, if the first attempt of doors
closing fails, the doors are opened and then closed a second time.
When the car is parking with closed doors, if there is an obstacle that, for example, enables safety edges and opens the door
continuously, after 4 attempts of door closing, the elevator changes its status in parking with opened doors. This avoids the
continuos door opening/closing for a time too long. When a new call is registered the elevator is reset to parking return with
closed doors.

5.11.1 Doors opening exclusion during test

To enable this feature, program an even number at adr.7 (CHF). So, to disable doors opening during test, PCP button can
be pushed. The doors stay closed even though doors interlocks are opened.

5.11.2 Manual-operated doors

Programming 0 or 2 at adr.22 you can have elevator with manual door. In this case CP output drives retiring cam.
From the arrival of the last service, ‘Car in use’ signal is turned on for TAP time (adr.2). If CCO contact is present (can be
enabled programming 0 or 1 at adr.30), it keeps OCC output always on. TAP time is cancelled when door are closed again.
After the door closing OCC output is turned on for TOC time (at adr.9). With manual doors the faults relative to the doors and
the times of doors closing and opening are ignored. Manual rephasing is forced.

5.11.3 Automatic doors

Programming 1 or 3 at adr.22 you can have automatic doors. In this case CP output drives doors closing.

5.11.4 Semi-automatic doors

If semi-automatic doors are needed (automatic only in car), the programming is the same as automatic doors, that is 1 or 3 at
adr.22.
The contacts of manual-operated landings doors have to be connected before the ALT input pin. See scheme 2.3.
In hydraulic elevators, in order to allow releveling operation also with landing doors opened, ALT input has not to be
opened by manual landing doors contacts. So ALT pin must be connected before manual-operated landing doors contacts
(as in manual-operated doors, see scheme 2.3). To avoid that car automatic doors closing with landing doors still opened, a
relay have to be connected at the end of manual landing doors contacts in the safety chain and one of its contact (N.O.) can
be used to open the photocell input.

42 AM1 User Manual AMCS ELETTRONICA

5.11.5 Normal multiple doors
We talk about multiple doors when the elevator has two or three car entrances. They are considered normal multiple doors
when more entrances at a floor open at the same time.
Up to three doors can be programmed for each floor. The rights sides of doors opening, driven by AP, AP2 and AP3(=PATT
pin) outputs and controlled by photocells on CM1, CM2 and CM3(=NOS pin) inputs, have to be programmed for each
landing at addresses starting from adr.50, that corresponds with landing 0, to adr.81, that corresponds with landing 31:
- 1 AP (door side A)
- 2 AP2 (door side B)
- 4 AP3 (door side C)
- The addition to open at a floor more sides togheter
Example: to open AP (door side A) and AP3 (door side C) togheter at floor 2 you must program 5 (1+4) at adr.52.
To have third door opening and third door photocell repectively on PATT output and NOS input pins, you have to
program 2 at adr.94 (so disabling retiring cam feature and parking exclusion feature).
Doors closing for all car entrances happens at the same time and it’s driven by CP output pin (RCP relay).

5.11.6 Selective multiple doors

We talk about selective multiple doors when there are two or three car entrances at a floor completely independent one from
the others, so that the doors open one at a time and each car entrance has its call pushbuttons. In this case each selective
multiple door practically corresponds with a single landing and the number of landings (adr.37) is greater than the
number of floors (adr.36) of the elevator.
When selective multiple doors are programmed at a floor, you need to give them an order of landing, specifing which door
corresponds with the LOW landing, which with MIDDLE landing and which with HIGH landing. At the address of each landing
setting (from 50 to 81) a number given by door side of opening value (even the addition of more sides can be entered, see
paragraph 5.11.5) + order of landing value must be entered:
- 8 LOW landing
- 16 MIDDLE landing
- 32 HIGH landing
Example: to have three selective multiple doors corresponding with 3, 4, and 5 landings, with door opening driven by
respectively AP, AP2 and AP3 (=PATT) output pins, you have to program 9 (1+8 that is side A+low landing) at adr.53, 18
(2+16 that is side 2+middle landing) at adr.54 and 36 (4+32 that is side 3+high landing) at adr.55.
The landings relative to the selective floor must be always consecutive.
If at a floor you have only two selective multiple doors, you have to program only the LOW landing and the HIGH landing (the
MIDDLE one is not considered).
If an error is done programming doors configuratin (adr. from 50 to 81), 60 fault code is signalled.
NOTE: at the end of programming settings, the control panel must bu turned off and powered again only after few seconds
(detaching a battery if present).
In case of multiple doors, during rephasing operation doors opening is disabled.

5.12 Overtravel test

In order to do this test you need to program 1 or 3 at adr.31.
This operation is accomplished in the following way: pushing DW and DATO buttons while the car is in movement, the
elevator keeps moving until one or both buttons are released. So, if you keep the two buttons pushed, the car goes in
overtravel at the speed that it had at the moment the buttons were pushed.
For traction elevators the overtravel test can be accomplished both upward and downward, but for hydraulic ones it can
be done only upward.
This test is however disabled (even though it is programmed):
- during inspection service
- during emergency operation
- during releveling operation
- in case of one of two buttons is at ground or it’s pushed before the car starts to move
NOTE: it’s a good advice to disable these tests (programming 0 or 2 at adr.31) when they are finished!

5.13 Floor parking
5.13.1 Homing
- Parking return to FST landing: atfer the APS time programmable at adr.12 from 0 to 99 x 10 seconds from OCC relay
drop (Car in use signal), the car is sent to the FST parking landing programmed at adr.83.
The parking return to FST landing can be disabled programming at adr.83 a value greater than the number of landings.
- Automatic parking return to the bottom floor after 15 minutes: only in hydraulic elevators, an automatic parking
return to the bottom floor after 15 minutes from the ‘car in use’ signal turning off can be programmed by entering 1 or 3 at
adr.29. When the car is at floor zero it can’t be sent again to another parking floor.
- Input to diable parking return (NOS pin): the parking return to FST landing can be disabled closing to ground(GND) the
NOS input (this feature is enabled if 2 at adr.94 is not programmed, otherwise the NOS pin works as third door
photocell input).
During fire, independent and priority services any automatic floor parking return is disabled. If floor parking is with closed
doors (SPC see 5.13.2), at the end of the return to a floor for parking the doors don’t open and the GONG doesn’t pulse.

5.13.2 Parking with opened door (POD) or parking with closed door (PCD)
After the end of the last service, the car can park with opened doors (SPA type) if you program 0 or 1 at adr.23, or with
closed doors (SPC type) if you program 2 or 3 at adr.23. If floor parking is with closed doors (SPC type), after a return to a
floor for parking (see paragraph 5.13.1) the doors don’t open and the GONG chime doesn’t pulse.
If the elevator is of type SPA, you can program up to two landings of type SPC at addresses 85 and 86. Viceversa, if the
elevator is of type SPC, the two landings programmed at that addresses will be of type SPA. To disable parking with ‘reverse
door’, you can enter at adr.85 and 86 a value greater than the number of total landings (adr.36).

5.14 General purpose timers

Two timers are available for general purposes:
- TIMER1 input CS1 / output RU
The delay for this timer can be programmed from 0 to 99 tenths of second at adr.14 (T1UG). It’s enabled
programming 16 at adr.94, otherwise the couple of pins CS1/RU are used in the safety circuit (see par. 6.1).
- TIMER2 input FS3 / output CPF
The delay for this timer can be programmaed from 0 to 99 tenths of a sceond at adr.15 (T2UG). It’s enabled
programming 32 at adr.94, otherwise FS3 input does the check of a relevant contact and CPF output gives
the nudging doors closing or the signal for a DUPLO elevator. The T2UG time at adr.15 can be multiplied for
10 or for 100 adding respectively 16 or 32 at adr.89. The TIMER2 is disabled if 32 at adr.32 is programmed.
For each timer, you can select one of the three operating modes shown in the following table, where T is the delay in tenths
of a second programmed at adr. 14 and 15.

Inptut CS1/FS3 (input to ground)

ON

Output RU/CPF OFF TYPE A: Monostable

T

T
Output RU/CPF TYPE B: Delay at start

Output RU/CPF TIPO C: Final delay

T

The timers operating modes can be select at adr.89. The following table shows the available values that can be set at this
address. You can have all the desired configurations adding the singles values:
Adr.89 Timer1 Timer2 Example: to have Timer1 of type C, Timer2 of type B
Type A 0 0
Type B 1 4 2 + 4 = 6 at adr.89
Type C 2 8 The time of TIMER2 (T2UG) can be multiplied for 10 adding 16 at adr.89 or can be multiplied for
100 adding 32.
Example: if you set T2UG=50 at adr.15 (5 seconds) you will have
- T2UG=50 seconds adding 16 to what is programmed at.89 (in the previous example it would be 6+16=22 at
adr.89)
- T2UG=500 seconds adding 32 to what is programmed at adr.89 (in the previuos example it would be 6+32=38
at adr.89)

5.15 Elevator operating modes
5.15.1 Single Automatic Push Button (SAPB)
One call at a time is registered and then answered.
The elevators of this kind can have up to 32 landings: in elevators with 12 landings or less, parallel connections can be
used (both for the car and hoistway signals). In elevators with more than 12 landings serial connections are needed (with
CAPE and/or PEXP auxiliaty boards).
Elevators of type SAPB DUPLEX (“DUPLO”) can be done adding some external relays and with the help of the CPF output.
See paragraph 3.17 and the CM board User Guide.

5.15.2 Down collective simplex

Two kinds of calls are distinguished: car and down landing(hall) calls. All calls are registered, but the landing ones are
answered only when the car is going downward and if it isn’t fully loaded.
The elevators of this kind can have up to 32 landings: in elevators with 8 landings or less, parallel connections can be
used (both for the car and hoistway signals). In elevators with more than 8 landings serial connections are needed (with
CAPE and/or PEXP auxiliaty boards). Groups of simplex down elevators can be done (DUPLEX, TRIPLEX and
QUADRUPLEX). Duplex systems can be done directly connecting two AM1 boards (with X,Y pins), while for triplex and
quadruplex systems, the CM auxiliary board is needed (see CM User Guide).

5.15.3 Full collective simplex

Three kinds of calls are distinguished: car, up and down landing(hall) calls. All calls are registered, but the landing ones are
answered following an order depending on car running direction and full load status.
The elevators of this kind can have up to 32 landings: in elevators with 6 landings or less, parallel connections can be
used (both for the car and hoistway signals). In elevators with more than 6 landings serial connections are needed (with
CAPE and/or PEXP auxiliaty boards). Groups of full collective elevators can be done (DUPLEX, TRIPLEX and
QUADRUPLEX). Duplex systems can be done directly connecting two AM1 boards (with X,Y pins), while for triplex and
quadruplex systems, the CM auxiliary board is needed (see CM User Guide).

5.15.4 Elevators of type “DOMUS” (or “Home-Lift”)

The DOMUS operation service can be done only in parallel configuration. Up to 8 floors are supported. The car calls must
be connected to M0-M7 pins, while landing(hall) calls must be connected to M8-M15 pins.
Three operating modes are available:
1) Manual (with man presence) both in car and at the landings add 1 at adr.34
2) Automatic (SAPB) both in car and at the landings add 5 at adr.34
3) Manual in car and automatic at the landings add 4 all’ind.34
In manual operating mode each time a call button is released, the car stops. The car call buttons can be pushed again
immediately without waiting for the turning off of the ‘Car in use’ signal (OCC output), while the ones at the landings can be
pushed again only after the turning off of the ‘Car in use’ signal, except for the landing button that was being pushed which
can be pushed again immediately. ‘Car in use’ signal is available also on M8-M15 pins, togheter with landing call button. This
allows the landing call accept light to turn off at the button releasing, so showing to the person at that landing that the button
can be pushed again without waiting for ‘Car in use’ turning off as it happens at the others landings.
In automatic operating mode one call at a time is registered and answered. The call button can be pushed and then
released in order to register the call. The flashing o fixed car arrival indication is also available. The discrete position
indication (on U0-U7 pins) is enabled only in the door zone (see paragraph 6.7). So it can be used also as car presence
indication.
In any operating mode the following rules are followed:
- If the elevator has two speed (programmable adding 8 at adr.35), the magnets to enable IS/ID or IF/ICV switches are
needed both for landing zone and slowdown zone. If the elevator has one speed only landing zone switch is needed
(installing eventually the magnets for relevelling zone). In case of one speed the G and P output have to be connected
togheter to the auxiliary contactor.
- The parking return to the FST landing is disabled, but are still available (if programmed) the parking return to the bottom
floor after 15’ and the permanent fault at adr.29 (immediate or after return to lowest floor).
- The rephasing operation can be only manual-operated.
- The RU output goes ON only when the FS3 input is at ground and also IS or ID are active.
- The TIMER1 for general purpose is not available.
- Closing the Em input, the automatic emergency operation is not activated, but all calls upside the car are diasabled, so
allowing only downward travels.

AMCS ELETTRONICA AM1 User Manual 45

5.15.5 Multiplex with CM board
The CM board allows to menage groups of elevators up to four (DUPLEX, TRIPLEX and QUADRUPLEX) and DUPLO
elevators (SAPB Duplex).
For details, see the CM board User Guide.
Programming 2 at adr.34 and 1 or 3 at adr.16, the M0÷M11 (in parallel) pins or the M0÷M15 (in seirial) pins can be used
for the car calls in multiplex configuration. In this case you can’t have the immediate car leaving feature by pushing a car call
button. But if you use CAPE borad for car signals, the immediate car leaving feature is still available.

5.15.6 Duplex without CM board

Duplex elevators without the CM board can be made programming two AM1 boards as follow: an AM1 has the function of
MASTER (programming 16 at its adr.32), the other AM1 must be the SLAVE (not programming 16 at its adr.32 that is the
default setting).
The MASTER gets car and landing calls as a normal simplex, while the SLAVE gets only its car calls. So is the master that
registers the landing calls distributing them between the two elevators following the same logic used by a CM boards.
MASTER and SLAVE exchanges data through two wires connected between the X and Y pins. The wiring connection must
be crossed (so X of the first board must be connected to Y of the second board and viceversa). Remember to connect
togheter the grounds(GND) of the two boards and the +12V power with a diode as shown below.
With this configuratin duplex elevators with up to 32 landings can be made, full collective or down collective. Parallel or serial
connection can be used and in general all features of standard simplex can be set.
ATTENTION: in duplex without CM board
- the TC1 board can’t be used (remote monitoring feature unavailable)
- ZOPPO duplex can be made
- ‘DUPLO’ SAPB duplex can’t be made
- TRIPLEX and QUADRUPLEX can’t be made
To install triplex or quadruplex elevators groups, ‘zoppo’ elevator, ‘DUPLO’ elevator or to have remote monitoring feature
(also with duplex) CM board is needed.

(*) The wiring between +12 pins must be done with a diode that allows the MASTER board to be powered by the SLAVE
board too. When there is a power failure in the master simplex or its turned off for test, the master AM1 board is still
powered through the +12 pin by the slave board. If Simplex SA has a battery connected to it, this diode it’s not needed.
The master board has to be always powered because it must register landing calls also for the slave board.
When the master is powered by the slave (through +12 pin), the Em input must close to ground (GND) to avoid the 81
fault code signalling (that cancel all calls).

5.16 Beringer valve or Up valve for hydraulic elevators
The VB pin gives the output for Valvola Beringer (programming 1 or 3 at adr.17) or it gives the output for Up valve
(programming 0 or 2 at adr.17).
The VB output can supply 0,5Amax and max 50V DC.
During a car travel the VB output switches as shown in the following table, where RIF and T1UG are times programmable
from 0 to 99 x respectively 4 and 2 hundredths of a second at adr.11 and 14 (RIF is the same time of delayed landing,

5.17 Speed
5.17.1 One speed
If the elevator is at one speed, you have to program 0 at adr.24.
- If the IF/ICV configuration is used, in traction elevators, connect the inputs as shown in scheme 2.4.2. The IF and ICV
input pins are connected togheter because the same reed switch does both the landing operation (through IF) and the
changing of the car position indication (through ICV).
- If the IS/ID configuration is used, in hydraulic elevators, both IS and ID reed switches are needed in order to accomplish
releveling operation, landing operatione and changing of car position indication. TG, TP, tsd, cpp and apg signals must be
connected as shown in scheme 2.4.5 or 2.4.6 and P output must be programmed always ON (70 at adr.10).
The rephasing switches zone must be long as landing switches zone.
Inspection service must be programmed at high speed (2 or 3 at adr.26).

5.17.2 Two speed

If the elevator has two speed (the "high" and the "low"), program 0 at adr.24 and connect the inputs and the outputs of the
contctors as shown in the scheme 2.4.1.

5.17.3 High speed

We talk about high speed when the elevator has more than two speed. We can have up to 4 high speed and one low speed.
The outputs that can drive the four high speed are A, B, C and D (programming 1, 2 or 3 at adr.24). 3, 4 or 5 speed can be
set depending on the drive sytem used:
- 3 speed (programming 1 at adr.24):
one speed for a travel ff 1 floor long (V1P); one speed for a travel of 2 floors long or more (V2P); one speed for
slowdown.
- 4 speed (programming 2 at adr.24):
one speed for a travel of 1 floor long (V1P); one speed for a travel of 2 floors long (V2P); one speed for a travel of 3 floors
long or more (V3P); one speed for slowdown.
- 5 speed (programming 3 at adr.24):
one speed for a travel of 1 floor long (V1P); one speed for a travel of 2 floors long (V2P); one speed for a travel of 3 floors
long (V3P); one speed for a travel of 4 floors long or more (V4P); one speed for slowdown.
At the beginning of each travel, exactly at the end of the doors closing, is enabled the right speed (V1P,..,V4P) depending on
the number of floors the car has to run.
The calls registered after the car leaving are answered only if they are at the floors outside the zone of acceleration and
outside the zone needed for slowdown.
The landing after slowdown, only for V3P and V4P, can take place on the first IF that the car encounters or on the second
one (see adr.32 paragraph 1.2.2)
When the ALT button is pushed outside the floor, the rephasing operation is enabled and it will take place after the ALT
button releasing. During the rephasing operation, the inspection service and the emergency operation, it’s enabled always
the V1P speed. After inspection service, with the first call the car starts the rephasing operation going to the floor zero.
You can’t have high speed configuration with hydraulic elevators and long slowdown feature.

Rephasing switches in high speed configuration:
In the hoistway must be installed a couple of rephasing switches (with corresponding magnets) for each speed of the elevator
in order to allow a suitable slowdown of the car at the top and bottom floors (arriving at any speed).
Each rephasing zone must be some centimeters shorter than the corresponding slowdown zone. All rephasing switches are
active when opened.

Input CHP on AM1 board can be used to control inverter fault. If CHP activates(*) the elevator is instantly stopped with fault
code 61. The elevator has an automatic reset as soon as inverter fault disappears (CHP deactivates). Fault code 61 is stored
in the list of last 32 faults.
To enable this function for CHP you must add 32 to adr.31. In this case other CHP functions (priority calls and Attendant

6. CONTROLS
6.1 Safety circuit
You can have the check on safety circuit, not programming 16 at adr.94 (otherwise, the couple of pins CS1 and RU are
used as input and output for the Timer1). The check is disabled during inspection service and during emergency
operation.
The CS1 input must open (or ‘close’ if you program 32 at adr.34) at least one time (and for a time longer than 100ms) at
landing arrival before the first 4 seconds are elapsed, that is immediately after the car encounters both IS and ID.
Afterwards the CS1 input is ignored untill the car goes outside both switches. CS1 has to be closed (or opened if 32 at
adr.34) after 1,5 seconds from the going out of both IS and ID of the leaving floor (then it’s ignored again).
If one of these conditions is not followed, the elevator stops and shows 83 fault code signalling. The 83 fault is of the
permanet kind, so the elevator can go back to its normal service only if the SPEEDY button (on the PROG1 board) is pushed.
This fault can be disabled programming 8 at adr.34. In this case the CS1 input is disabled, but the RU output is still
working.
At power on, after a permanent fault, after inspection service and after emergency operation the CS1 input is ignored untill
the end of the first travel.
In the check of the safety circuit, the RU output is used too. This output is activated (goes ON) only during releveling
operation. During inspection service this output is always disabled (OFF).
In DOMUS elevators, the RU output goes ON only when the FS3 input is at ground (GND) togheter with the activation of IS
and/or ID.

6.2 Opening devices

The check on the opening devices is done when at least one call is registered and it signals if photocells, safety edges,
ALT button, door opening button (PAP) or overload contact (CCS) are active for more than 30 seconds. If the car stays
idle, so that the ‘tsd’ input remains closed, for a time longer than 30 seconds, all registered calls are cancelled and the
elevator stays in idle state signalling 67 fault code. After 5 seconds you can try again, but the fault signalling stays untill an
actual car leaving, that is untill the ‘tsd’ input opens.
To have this chek, the elevator must be full or down collective (0 or 2 at adr.16) and 1 mustn’t be programmed at adr.94
(otherwise the check is completely disabled).

6.3 Maximum travel time

The time of maximum travel TMC can be programmed from 10 to 99 seconds at adr.6. It’s the maximum time that the car
can run between two floors during a travel.
It’s enough to program a time for a travel of only one floor becouse this time is zeroed at each switching of ICV. It is
zeroed also closing the ‘tsd’ input for less than 4 seconds.
Once this time is elapsed, the 80 permanent fault code is signalled. This permanent fault can be of the immediate kind (2
or 3 at adr.29) thus stopping the elevator immediately or can take place after the return of the car to the lowest floor (0 or 1
at adr.29).
The elevator can go back to the normal service only pushing the SPEEDY button (on the PROG1 board) or enabling the
inspection service.
During the emergency operation, the inspection service and the fire service, this time is disabled.

6.4 Opposite direction

If the car, leaving a floor (exactly from a point outside both rephasing switches), goes in the opposite direction to the set
one, when it reaches the rephasing zone (IRD or IRS), the elevator stops permanently and shows 84 fault code signalling.
The AM1 board notices the wrong run direction when: once the S output is activated, it sees the car entering before the IRD
zone; or once the D output is activated, it sees the car entering before the IRS zone.
If the car is already inside a rephasing zone (IRS or IRD) and it starts running in the wrong direction, the elevators goes in
overtravel, it stops permanently and shows the 80 fault code signalling (not 84).

AMCS ELETTRONICA AM1 User Manual 55

6.5 Movable platform
Three inputs for the check of the movable platform are available: CCO (for the contact of ‘car in use’), CCC (for the contact of
full load) and CCS (for the contact of overload). The presence or not of the contacts CCO and CCC must be programmed at
adr.30: 0 = yes CCO; yes CCC; 1 = yes CCO; no CCC; 2 = no CCO; yes CCC; 3 = no CCO; no CCC.
Programming 2 at adr .96, you can have CCS and CCC enabled when opened, otherwise they are enabled when closed.
If the activation order of the three contacts is not followed (CCO CCC CCS), the elevator stops and shows 65 fault
code signallng. After 5 seconds you can try again. The check of this three contacts is disabled while the car is running or to
be more precise it is enabled only when the car is idle at the floor.
- CCO (car in use) (if present, program 2 or 3 at adr.30)
SAPB: when CCO is closed, it keeps the ‘Car in use indication signal’ turned on (OCC output) and doesn’t allow
the registration of new landing calls (because through the CE contact the landing call buttons are disabled
even though the doors are closed).
Simplex: when CCO is opened, it doesn’t allow to register new car calls and it cancels all those already registered
only if the doors are still opened. CCO doesn’t have these effects on the calls during the fire service and
the priority calls operation.
- CCC (full load) (if not present, program 1 or 3 at adr.30)
SAPB: CCC is not normally used, so disable it.
Simplex: when CCC is active the landing calls are not answered, except the one of the last landing in the direction
the car is running to. However all calls are registered and stored in order to be answered when CCC is off.
- CCS (overload)
SAPB: When CCS is active, it keeps the elevator idle with opened doors and it enables the SNR output for
overload buzzer (if programmed at adr.95). The call is cancelled. CCS is not checked during the car
movement, the fire service and outside the doors zone.
Simplex: As in SAPB elevators, but the registered calls are not cancelled.

6.5.1 Cancellation of car calls after 3 landing arrival without photocell switching
If the elevator hasn’t the CCO contact (car in use), the car calls can be cancelled after the third consecutive stop without
photocells being obscured. To enable this feature program 32 at adr.35.

6.6 Engine temperature

To check the engine temperature a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) thermistor (installed close to the engine) must be
connected to the TM input. When the thermistor goes over 4KΩ Ω or the TM input is opened, the elevator starts signalling 64
fault code. This fault can be of the permanent type, that is with manual reset pushing the SPEEDY button (0 or 2 at adr.25)
or with automatic reset when the thermistor goes under 1,5KΩ Ω or closing the TM input to GND (1 or 3 at adr.25). The manual
reset can be done only if the TM input sees a resistance less than 1,5KΩ .
If while the car is moving the TM input is activated, after 1,5 seconds all calls are cancelled, the 64 fault code is displayed
and the car goes on normally until the first floor it encounters (with normal slowdown). If permanent faults are of ‘immediate
stop’ kind, the door opens to let people exit the car, then they close again (in presence of the fault the doors can be opened
only by the car with the PAP button). If permanent faults are of ‘after return to zero stop’ kind, the car does a normal stop to
the first floor it encounters, then the elevator without opening the doors is sent to zero floor and once reached it opens the
doors.

6.7 Doors zone

As ‘doors zone’ we mean the space of the hoistway within which the doors can open. This zone is always active when the car
is in the landing zone (IF or both ID/IS). If the car leaves the floor for a regular service, the doors zone is disabled when the
car goes outside the landing zone. But if the car goes outside the landing zone for other reasons, the doors zone is disabled
only if the car goes outside both switches. The doors zone is enabled again only if the car enters the landing zone again.

7. SIGNALS
7.1 Position / Call accept
7.1.1 Position indication
- DECIMAL position (discrete signals)
The indication of the car position in decimal code can show the floor (programming 0 or 1 at adr.31) or the landing (2 or
3 at adr.31).
- In parallel, this indication is given directly by the output U0-U7 (both simplex and SAPB) and for the SAPB also by the
M12-M15 pins.
- In serial, the decimal indication of the car position is available through the outputs of the auxiliary CAPE boards (see
table 1.5). The AM1 outputs U1 type B, U2 type D, U3 type D, or U4 type B or C.
- Position in BINARY code or GRAY code
The indication of the car position (only the floor) can be given also by the outputs A, B, C and D of the AM1 board in
binary code or in Gray code. (this fature is not supported for elevators with high speed configuration, so enter 0 at adr.24).
ABCD go from 0 to 15 in the first 16 floors and they repeat from 0 to 15 in the following 16 floors (that is from 17° to 32°).
So if the elevator has more than 16 floors, you can have the 5° bit(E) for the floor encoding over 16° i n two ways:
- programming 1 at adr.95, the DIF output becomes the 5° bit (E) for the binary/Gray code.
- if you need DIF as fault signal, you can install a bistable sensor fixed to the car and two magnets with the same
polarity (one for the upward switching and one for the downward one) fixed between the 16° and the 17° floor in the
same position of ICV. This bistable will be the 5° bit(E).
Connecting the ABCD outputs to the A10 auxiliary board, you can have the binary decimal decoding of the first 10
floors. The pogrammed number of undergrounds don’t change these outputs (that is if for example the car is at the
bottom floor ‘-2’, the A10 board will turn on the lowest light signal).
The outputs A/B/C/D/DIF(E) can be negated programming 4 at adr.96. You can have the BINARY encoding not
programmng 16 at adr.33, while you can have the GRAY encoding programming 16 at adr.33.
- DIGITAL Position (7 segments)
The digital position indication is available only with serial wiring on the auxiliary boards CAPE (see table 1.5) or PEXP
(see table 1.7) adding a two-digit display board as shown in paragraph 9.5. This kind of indication can show only the
floor and not the landing. U1 type A or U4 type A can be used. The position indication can go from ‘-9’ to ‘19’. To go over
the ‘19’, you can use a CAPE board connecting its ‘DI’ input to U1 or U4 of the AM1 board (programming U1A or U4A).
L0-L13 outputs will give the units and tens segments signals of the display. You should use a 2-digit display with common
anode and connect its anode pins to +12V. Put an 1K ohm resistor in series to each segment pin of the display.
- SERIAL Position
You can have the indication of the car position through the serial output pin DS (Serial Display) programming 0 or 1 at
adr.31 to have the floor indication or programming 2 or 3 at adr.31 to have the landing indication. The DS serial output
signal can be negated programming 16 at adr.96. The serial display signal is repeated continuously following this
scheme: 1 2
The number of short
pulses between two long
pulses is the value
transmitted: in the
106,25ms 100ms
example the value is 2.
6,25ms

In the following table you can see the equivalence between the number of pulses and the symbol shown on the display:
N° of pulses Symbol From adr.90 to 93 you can program the symbols shown on the display for the 4 lowest
0 0 floors. For example, if you want that at the bottom floor is shown the ‘-3’ on the display,
1 1 you have to program 34 at adr.90 (see table on the left). The addresses 9093 can be
2 2 used also one at a time (from none to all four). For example, if the floors with a special
... ... symbol are only two, you can program only the addresses 90 and 91, while the addresses
31 31 92 and 93 must have a value >90. So the addresses 92 and 93 are ignored. The
32 -1 indication of floors next to those programmed at adr.9093 starts automatically from 0,
then with 1,2,3, …
33 -2
34 -3 If you do not want to start with 0, but with another number, you can program the right

7.1.2 SAPB landing call accept
- PARALLEL wiring
The landing call accept signals in SAPB elevators are given directly by M0-M11 pins (for elevators with max. 12
landings). See table 1.4.
- SERIAL wiring
The landing call accept signals in SAPB elevators are given directly by M0-M15 pins (for elevators with max. 16 landings)
or by the auxiliary boards CAPE (see table 1.5 and 1.6) and PEXP (see table 1.7) for elevators with max. 32 landings.

7.1.3 Call accept indication (in simplex collective elevators)

- PARALLEL wiring
Registerd call signals are given in parallel wiring configuration directly by M0-M15 pins (for full collective with max. 6
landings or down collective with max. 8 landings). Vedere tabella 1.4.
- SERIAL wiring
Registerd call signals are given in serial wiring configuration directly by M0-M15 pins (for the landing calls in full collective
with max. 9 landings or down collective with max. 16 landings), or by the auxiliaryboards CAPE (see table 1.5 and 1.6)
and PEXP (see table 1.7). For the car you can use the outputs U2 type A, B or C, or U3 type A, B or C, for the landings
U0 or U5 .

7.2 Direction
- Indication of CAR RUNNING DIRECTION (HALL LANTERNS)
The FS/FD outputs on the board give the indication of car running direction if you do not program 16 at adr.95.
The hall lanterns turn on immediately after the first call and they turn off only after the last landing in the same direction.
They don’t turn off durino middle landings. At the speed change of the last stop you can have four different situations:
- If only one car call was registered, the hall lantern turn off at the speed change;
- If was registered the landing call for the opposite direction, at the speed change the current direction hall lantern turn
off and the other one is turned on (it doesn’t matter if is registered or not also a car call). If a car call is not registered
within the TAP time (adr.2) from the end of doors opening, the hall lantern turn off.
- If was registered the landing call to continue in the same direction, the current direction hall lantern stays on. If a car
call is not registered within the TAP time (adr.2) from the end of doors opening, the hall lantern turn off.
- If were registered both the landing calls at that floor, the current direction hall lantern stays on until the end of TAP
time, then the other lantern turns on. If a car call is not registered within the TAP time (adr.2) from the end of doors
opening plus the time of a new opening, the hall lantern turn off.
- Indication of NEXT CAR DIRECTION LEAVING
The FS/FD outputs on the board give the indication of the next direction the car will have if you program 16 at adr.95.
The right arrow for next direction indication installed at the floor to which the car is going to stop, turns on at the beginning
of slowdown and it turns off at the end of the doors closing of the next car leaving.
At last service, if no landing calls are registered, at speed change both arrows are turned on and they stay on until the
turning off of the car in use signal (OCC output).
So that only the arrows of next car direction leaving turn on at the floor where the car is (and not at all floors), you can
realize the following circuits (two examples):

7.3 Display on PROG1 board
- During normal service
- SAPB elevator up to 10 landings: the display shows on the left digit the number of the landing destination (fixed or
flashing depending on the programming at adr.27) and the car position on the right digit.
- Selective multiple doors: the landing and the floor can be different, the left digit displays the car destination
(showing the landing number) and the right digit displays the car position (showing the floor number).
- In all the other cases: it’s displayed only the car position and, when there are undergrounds, is displayed a ’0’
instead of ‘-‘ (except for SAPB elevators).
- Pushing DATO button: are displayed some codes as quick informations revealing the possible active state of some
signals, as shown in table 1.3.
- Pushing DATO and SPEEDY buttons togheter: the latest stored fault code (of the 32 long fault list) is displayed.
See paragraph 7.5.
- If there is a fault: it’s displayed a flashing code corresponding with the fault. See table 1.1.
- During PRESET mode
It’s displayed the address of memory to program or if the dato button is pushed, the value stored at that address.
See paragraph 4.1.

7.4 Car in use

The car in use signal (OCC output) turns on after the first calls is registered and in SAPB elevators also when someone
enters in the car (so closing the CCO contact). The CCO contact (if enabled programming 0 or 1 at adr.30) keeps the car in
use signal turned on also when the doors are closed.
It’s turned off after the TOC time (programmable from 0 to 99 seconds at adr.9) from the beginning of the doors closing of
the last service or, programming TOC=0, after the waiting from the end of doors opening (TAP, programmable from 2 to 45
seconds at adr.2).
The indication of car in use can be with always fixed light (programming 0 or 2 at adr.27) or can be flashing during the car
movement (programming 1 or 3 at adr.27).

7.5 Faults list

When there is a fault that stays for at least two seconds, its code is stored in a list in memory. In this list can be stored 32
fault codes at most and they will be always the latest.
Pushing togheter DATO and SPEEDY button on the PROG1 board, the latest fault code stored is displayed. Releasing both
buttons the displayed fault code is erased from memory, that is at its place is written the value ‘99’.
Repeating the operation after at least one second, you can see the last by one fault code and so on until the appearing of the
value ‘99’, that will mean the complete clearing of the stored faults list.
To delete all the faults list in one time, you can push the SPEEDY button and, keeping it pushed, push three times the
DATO button, with a timing interval of at least half a second.
When the board is powered, any fault that takes place in the first 10 seconds is not stored in memory even though it remains
for more than 10 seconds.
Faults 58, 59 and 60 are never stored.

7.6 Light inside the car

You can have the light inside the car in two ways:
- The light can be always turned on.
- The light can turn on/off togheter with the car in use signal (OCC). In this case use the OCC output also to drive a relay
that activate the car light.
- The car light can be turned off after a time greater than the car in use signal using one of the two TIMER for general
purpose (for example program TIMER2 of type C, connect a relay to the CPF output to drive the car light and enable the
FS3 input with the ‘car in use’ signal), see 5.14.

7.7 Far landing

Adding 8 at adr.33 the SCP output can do the signal for far landing, that is it goes ON when the car has to do a travel of only
one floor and it goes OFF when the travel is longer than one floor. With the high speed (if is programmed 1,2 or 3 at adr.24),
in DOMUS elevators and with one speed this feature is disabled. In simplex collective elevators, a registered call at a floor
next to the one the car has leaved is answered the next time. If SCP is enabled as far landing, the programming of adr.96 is
ignored, so the car at floor signal and the very close floors features are unavailable.

AMCS ELETTRONICA AM1 User Manual 59

8. OPERATIONS AND SERVICES
8.1 Releveling operation
You can have the releveling operation programming 0 or 1 at adr.28. If you program 0 or 1 at adr.33, this operation allows
the car to go back to the landing zone both upward and downward; if the car goes under ID without leaving IS, the TS upward
contactor is activated; if the car goes above IS without leaving ID, the TD downward contactor is activated. In both cases the
TA auxiliary contactor, the Up or Beringer valve are activated. Programming 2 or 3 at adr.33, TS and TP contactors are
activated when the car goes out from IF both upward and downward remaining within ICV. In this case it’s needed the
releveling zone connected to the APA input.
At adr.99 can be set the maximum time (from 4 to 30 seconds) during which the car can do the releveling operation. If values
less than 4 or greater than 30 are set, the time is automatically set to 12 seconds. If the releveling operation lasts more than
the time at adr.99, the elevator stops permanently and shows the 82 fault code which can be of ‘immediate stop’ kind (2 or 3
at adr.29) or with stop after return to the lowest floor (0 or 1 at adr.29).
The rephasing operation has the priority on releveling operation, but if an interlock is opened, so that the car can’t rephase,
after the TMP time (adr.5) the releveling operation is started.
The releveling operation can take place also with doors opened, but it doesn’t take place if:
- 82 fault is present
- the car is out of both ID/IF and IS/ICV
- a contactor is stuck
- the elvator is inspection service or in emergency operation
- the engine temperature is too high
- the ALT button is pushed (and so also if the car is in overtravel)
- There is 4 at adr.94 (APA does the releveling zone) and APA is opened, so the car is outside the releveling zone.
- The permanent fault is of ‘after return to zero’ kind, when there is a permanent fault and doors can’t close at a floor
different from 0.
After a releveling operation, all the three check inputs ‘tsd’, ‘cpp’ and ‘apg’ have to go to 0 at least one time before another
releveling operation can take place. This allows to check that none of the contactor is stuck. Also after a normal service, this
sequence must be followed in order to start a new service.

8.2 Priority calls service

A priority call can be registered from one of the landings enabled to the service closing the appropriate external key at that
floor. This service is enabled if 8 at adr.84 is not programmed (otherwise CHP does the Attendant Service).
After a priority call is registered, all currently registered calls are cancelled, the parking with opened doors is enabled and is
disabled any kind of car automatic return. Also the CCO input is disabled. The first priority call disabled all the next ones.
After a priority call is registered, we can have the following situations:
- If the car was running in the opposite direction to the foolr of the priority call, it does a regular stop with doors
opening at the first floor it encounters, then it goes to the priority call floor.
- If the car was running towards the floor of the priority call, the floor is reached without middle stops.
- If the car was idle at a floor, it leaves immediately.
When the car reaches the floor of the priority call, after removing the external key, an internal key can be closed to move the
car with the independent service (see paragraph 8.4), so realizing the ‘code blue’ service. A this point any other priority
call will be ignored.

8.3 Emergency operation
The emergency operation is disabled during the inspection service and the fire service.
When there is a power failure and the AM1 is kept powered by the battery, the Em input has to be closed to ground (GND) to
avoid the signalling of the 81 permanent fault code (overtravel), even though the elevator hasn’t the emergency operation.
NOTE: the Em pin is connected inside the board to the UP button of the PROG1 board.
HYDRAULIC elevators operating mode:
The PEM emergency landing can be programmed at adr.84.
When there is a power failure, if the +12V voltage is not supplied to the board for more than one tenth of a second, the
elevator starts rephasing operation to floor zero which end with doors opening. But if PEM=32 and Em stays closed, the
doors doesn’t open.
Otherwise, if there is a power failure and +12V is still supplied to the board without interruptions, is however needed to close
the Em input at ground (GND) within 2-3 tenths of a second and the safety chain must be powered back again within 2
seconds. In this way starts the emergency operation, which operating mode changes depending on PEM value:
- PEM = 0
The car goes always to floor 0 and then the door is opened and not closed back.
- PEM = 32
The car goes always to floor 0, once reached, the door is not opened and the GONG is not pulsed. Also in this case the
door is not opened before leaving.
- PEM > landings n° of the elevator, except 32 value
If the car was idle at a floor, it opens the door and the it goes to zero floor. If the car was between two floors, it goes to the
bottom one and opens the door, then it goes to zero floor. At floor zero the elevator opens the door and keeps it opened.
- PEM = a landing of the elevator, except 0 value
(NOTE: with selective multiple doors the levator goes always to zero)
You can have the following three cases, depending on the position of the car at the beginning of the emergency
operation:
- If the car is above the PEM floor, it reaches the PEM floor without opening the doors before leaving. At the PEM floor
it does a regular stop opening the door and then leaving towards floor zero.
- If the car is at the PEM floor, it opens the doors and the goes to the floor zero.
- If the car is under the PEM floor:
- if it is outside a floor, it goes to the beneath floor where it does a regular stop opening the doors, then it goes to the
zero floor;
- if it is at the floor, before leaving it opens the doors and the goes to the zero floor.
At the zero floor it opens the doors and keep them opened.
When Em is released, the emergency operation ends, but before the car finishes its current action.
TRACTION elevators operating mode
The PEM emergency landing is ignored.
- If the car is at the floor, it stays idle, opens the doors and keeps them opened until Em is active.
- If the car is outside the floor, the elevator enables downward movement in low speed, stops the at the first floor it
encounters and opens the doors.

8.4 Independent Service

This service can be enabled inside the car closing the INT input to ground (GND), or opening it if is programmed 16 at
adr.34.
The parking with opened doors is enabled and any automatic car return is disabled. During the independent/exclusive service
only the car calls, the CCO signal and eventually the fire service calls are enabled. Any outside landing call (alse the priority
ones) is ignored. The independent service can’t be done during the inspection service and the rephasing operation.

8.4.1 Earthquake operation

Enabling the INT input and removing the common line to all call buttons, the car stops at the first floor it encounters, opens
the doors and keeps them opened. If the car was still at the floor, opens the doors and keeps them opened.

8.4.2 Earthquake operation without crossing between car and counterweight

When there is an earthquake, this operation allows the car to reach the first nearest floor without the crossing of the car and
the counterweight.
To enable this feature, program 4 at adr.35 (so using the manual rescue operation) and do not program 1, nor 2, nor 32 at
adr.96 (so that the SCP output can be used as indication of car at floor, CCS and MAN must be active when closed).
When there is an earthquake an appropriate sensor is enabled. If the car is idle at the floor, it stays there with doors opened
and the out of service signal is enabled (the ALT is activated). If the car is outside the floor, an appropriate bistable (BMC in
the following scheme) will show if the car is above or under the middle of the hoistway (so if it is above or under the
counterweight). If the car is above the counterweight, MAN, CCS and PSM are activated so that the car can go upward in low

speed until it encounters a floor and then it stops with opened doors and ALT pushed. If the car is under the counterweight,
MAN, CCS and PDM are enabled and the car goes downward to the first nearest floor.

8.5 Assembly operation

To enable the elevator assembly operation, you can connect the inputs IRS and IRD to ground (GND) and the inputs EXC,
ALT, CS and CT to the safety chain voltage.
Swith to inspection service and use the PSM button to go upward and the PSM button to go downward. The speed is the one
programmed for the inspection service at adr.26.
ATTENTION: the car doesn’t stop at the bottom and top floor if PSM or PDM buttons are pushed, because the rephasing
switch are not present.

8.6 Attendant service

To enable this service, program 8 at adr.94. In this way the CHP input doesn’t give prioriy calls but is used as attendant key
input.
The elevator can be programmed as simplex (full or down collective) but not SAPB (so program 0 or 2 at adr.16).
When the attendant key(= CHP input) is closed to ground (GND), only the car call buttons are enabled and the landing call
buttons can only turn on the landing call accept lights installed in the car so that the attendant can choose which one to
answer.
So, the landing call accept lights must be installed both in the car an at the landings (through a parallel wiring). These lights
turn off only when the car answer a call registered by the attendant inside the car. So the elevator answers only the car calls.
Example: scheme for an elevator with attendant service with serial wiring

8.7 Inspection service
The inspection service is enabled after exactly one second from the activation of the MAN input and only if the PDM and
PSM buttons are not pushed.
At adr.96 the MAN input can be programmed enabled when opened (programming 32) or enabled when closed (not
programming 32).
The inspection service follows this conditions:
- All registered calls are cancelled and the new ones are disabled. The FSER output is activated.
- During the inspection service, the car can only move by pushing one of the above-car button PDM (downward) or PSM
(upward). By pushing these two buttons togheter, the car stays idle.
- The car can run at high speed (2 or 3 at adr.26) or at low speed (0 or 2 at adr.26) and at the bottom and top floors it
stops (even though PDM or PSM pushed) on the IF switch (1 or 3 at adr.26) or on the rephasing switches (0 or 2 at
adr.26).
- If the high speed configuration is set, only the V1P speed (if inspection at high speed is programmed) is enabled during
inspection service.
- Adding 4 at adr.33, you can have TG and TP contactors enabled togheter when the car is running. In this way you can
enable the inspection speed input of the drive system (speed regulator). Entering the rephasing switches, the TG
contactor drops.
- During inspection service, the maximum travel time and the emergency operation are disabled. If there is a permanet
fault, it is reset.
- At the end of the inspection service, the elevators stays idle for 5 seconds. When the operators has gone outside the car
roof and the doors are closed, the car can go upward at low speed in order to reach the floor by pushing the a landing call
button at that floor. If a call is registered from another landing, the car leaves at high speed and reaches the floor
normally. If the elevator is of SAPB kind or with high speed configuration or with long slowdown or with selective multiple
doors, after the first call from the end of inspection service, the car starts the rephasing operation going to floor zero.
- Doors open or close pushing the PAP or PCP button and stop releasing the button. They close also pushing the PSM or
PDM button and after closing the car leaves going in the direction of the pushed button. The doors operating is available
also when the car is outside the floor. The photocells stay active until the end of doors closing. If there are more doors,
they are operated always togheter, even though they are selective multiple doors.

8.7.1 Manual rescue operation

This operating mode is enabled if 4 at adr.35 is programmed. By activating MAN and CCS inputs togheter, the car can be
taken to the first floor it encounters at low speed, using the PDM/PSM inspection buttons. The car stops also if the button is
still pushed and at the floor the doors are opened.

8.8 Rephasing operation

After a power failure, the elevator must go (rephase) to the bottom floor, except it is yet at the bottom or top floor (within
rephasing switches). If the car is a the top floor, the elevator will however start the rephasing operation in these cases: high
speed configuration, selective multiple doors and hydraulic elevators.
The rephasing operation can be automatically operated, without pushing any button (2 or 3 at adr.25) or manually
operated, so it takes place after pushing a call button (0 or 1 at adr.25). When the elevator has the manual-operated landing
doors, the rephasing operation must be manual.
In HYDRAULIC elevators, you have to program AUTOMATIC rephasing operation, because at power on, the rephasing
operation has the priority on releveling operation and so, if it was manual, the releveling operation couldn’t take place until the
first call. If the rephasing operation fails because there is an interlock opened or for other reasons, after the TMP time (adr.5)
the releveling operation can however take place.
If the elevator has high speed configuration, the rephasing operation is done at V1P speed and takes place also after the
pushing of ALT button outside the floor.
In an hydraulic elevator, if the car is idle at floor 0 or only within IRD, at power on it is sent to floor 1. If the elevator has more
than one door entrance, during rephasing operation the doors opening is disabled. In SAPB elevators, by registering a call
outside the floor equal to the position, the rephasing operation begins. During rephasing operation the FSER output is
enabled (out of service signal).

8.9 Automatic calls

By pushing togheter DOWN and SPEEDY buttons on the PROG1 board for at least 2 seconds in normal service, all calls are
registered continuously, for a time equal to the one programmed at adr.13. The time starts from the buttons releasing.
Programming 99 at adr.13, the time will be 99 minutes and not infinite (as in battery detachment). By pushing togheter
DOWN and DATO buttons on the PROG1 board, only the bottom and top calls are registered. To end the loop before time is
elapsed, you can switch to PRESET mode for about two seconds and then go back in normal service.

8.10 Fire service
Two operating modes are available: fire service and firefighters service. To have the fire service, use the CEP input. To
have the firefighters service, use the CIP input.
These two inputs normally are active when closed to ground (GND), but they can be programmed enabled when opened
entering 16 at adr.34.
For both operating modes, you can have at most TWO landings (called FIRE RECALL LANDINGS) equipped with an
external key (or sensors) that can recall the car in case of fire:
- The first landing is programmed at adr.39 entering the number of the landing. If at this address is programmed a
value greater than 31 (FPM > 31) both fire and firefighters services are disabled. To take the car at this landing, the
CIP or CEP input must be activated and the NOS input must be opened (only if there is the second fire recall
landing).
- The second landing is programmed at adr.83 entering the number of the landing plus 50. By programming this
landing, you can’t have a floor for parking return operation. If at this address is enered a value less than 50 or greater
than 81, the second fire recall landing is disabled and works only the first one. To take the car at this landing, the CIP
or CEP input must be activated and the NOS input must be closed to ground (GND).
If only the first fire recall landing is programmed (adr.39), it’s not needed to leave the NOS input opened. So, this input can be
used for the other features it has.
By enabling CIP or CEP, you will have the following operating conditions true for both services:
- All registered car and landing calls are cancelled and then disabled.
- The PAP doors open button keeps working.
- Door open devices (photocells and safety edges) are disabled.
- The car is sent to the fire recall landing with absolute priority in three ways:
- If the car is running in the opposite direction to the fire recall landing, it stops with normal slowdown at the first
floor it encounters without open the doors and after 1,5 seconds it leaves the floor and goes to the fire recall landing.
- If the car is running towards the fire recall landing, it reaches the floor without middle stops.
- If the car is idle at a floor, it leaves the floor immediately.
If during the doors closing the photocell is obscured, it doesn’t stop the door closing.
After the car arrival at one of the two fire racall landings, the operating mode changes depending on the kind of service (fire
or firefighters) in the following way:
Fire Service
- the doors open for 5 seconds and then close back, or they stay opened if 8 at adr.32 is programmed.
- the elevator is put in OUT OF SERVICE mode.
- the PAP doors open button keeps working.
- removing the external fire key or sensor (so open CEP), the doors open.
Firefighters Service
- the doors open and then stay opened.
- only the car calls are enabled
- the doors close back if a car call is registered or by pushing the PCP doors closing button, but any button must be pushed
until the complete closing of the doors, otherwise the doors are opened again and the registered call is cancelled.
- al the end of the doors closing, the car leaves and reaches the floor to which the call was registered without opening the
doors.
- the doors can be opened only by pushing the PAP doors open button, but it must be pushed until the complete opening of
the doors and for other 2 seconds, otherwise the doors close back again.
- during the car running, the registered call can be changed and a new one can be placed, in this case the previous
registered call is cancelled. The car reaches the new floor with normal slowdown. This happens in both simplex collective
and SAPB elevators. Each time the car stops, the registered call is cancelled.
- door open devices (photocells, safety edges and overload) are disabled.
- by disabling the fire key for at least 5 seconds, the car goes back to the fire recall landing in the same way described
before. If the fire key is not activated again within 5 seconds from the car arrival at the fire recall landing, the elevator
goes back to normal service.
- If there is a power failure with the car at the floor and the AM1 board is still powered by a battery, when the power is
supplied again the doors open again, if they are not completely closed. All previous registered calls are cancelled. If the
car is outside the floor, all calls are accepted except the one equal to the position of the car.

USA Firefighters service
- It’s different from the firefighters service described before only for the following feature: the doors closing can be done
only by the PCP doors closing button and no more with the car call buttons. The registration of the car call can be done
also before the closing of the doors. To anable the USA firefighters service, program 4 at adr.32.
Only the inspection service and the rephasing operation have the priority on the fire service. All the safety devices are
enabled, except for the photocells and the safety edges. The ALT button cancels always the registered calls.
The following scheme shows the wiring between the AM1 board and the fire keys/sensors:

Fire sensor AM1

In this way are followed points a) and h) of paragraph 5.8.8 of the Standard EN81-72 (Firefighters elevators). All the others
points of the standard are met directly by software.
NOTE: the CPF output can be used to meet the point 5.8.6 of the standard EN81-72.
The maximum time programmable at adr.7 is 97 seconds long. You have to not program 32 at adr.94.

9. AUXILIARY AND EXPANSION
BOARDS
9.1 A10
This binary/decimal decoder board receives position or landing call accept signal in binary-code from the ABCD outputs of
the AM1 boards and decodes it to ten decimal outputs that turn on the right light. The A10 board can be used for elevators
with max. 10 landings.

9.2 CAPE
This serial expansion board for car/hoistway signals has 16 inputs (0-15) and 16 outputs (L0-L15), two power pins (GN and
+12), a serial clock input pin (CK), a serial data output pin (DO) and a serial data input pin (DI).
This board doesn’t have to be programmed because its behavior depends on AM1 programming. The AM1 knows before the
meaning of the CAPE inputs (coming from the serial DO output pin) and in responce it enables the rights CAPE outputs
(through the serial CAPE input DI).
See tables 1.5 and 1.6.

9.3 PEXP
This serial board has two inputs (D and S) and four outputs (LD, LS, PD and PS), two power pins, a serial clock input pin (K),
a data output pin (DO) and three serial data input pins (I, L and F).
Normally, the PEXP boards are installed at each landing, and for each one the the number of the landing has to be set
through an on-board DIP-SWITCH.
PEXP boards work like CAPE boards.
See table 1.7.

9.4 PROG1
PROG1 is a removable keypad that allows the AM1 memory programming.
It has a switch (PRESET) that allows the AM1 to enter or exit the PRESET mode and four buttons (UP, DOWN, SPEEDY
and DATO) that have more features. See also paragraphs 3.61, 3.62, 3.63 and 3.64.
On this keypad there is also a 2-digit display that shows different information (see paragraph 7.3).

9.5 2-digit DISPLAY for PEXP board

The following electric scheme shows how to make a 2-digit display for the position indication available on PEXP board (and
also on CAPE board). See also 1.7.
