Class Average: 8.11
Test type: progress/achievement test.
The test is designed to measure the students’ language and skill progress in relation
to the syllabus they have been following. The test contains items that the students are
familiar with, they had worked items with a similar structure before.
The test consists of five items, in order to provide conclusive results and an honest
appreciation of the students’ knowledge. They involve the correct use of grammar (exercise
1 – verb tenses, exercise 2 – irregular verbs, exercise 3 - the use of the definite and
indefinite articles, exercise 4 – modal verbs, exercise 5 – plurals).
Test objectives:
O1: to measure Ss’ ability to use the verbs, regular and irregular;
O2: to measure Ss’ ability to use definite and indefinite article;
O3: to measure Ss’ ability to use modal verbs expressing possibility and certainty;
O5: to measure Ss’ ability to count nouns;
Results’ interpretation:
Following the process of test correcting and grading, it can be concluded that:
Most of the students are able to identify the correct tense;
Most of the students know the irregular verbs;
Most of the students are able to properly use the definite and indefinite article;
Most of the students are able to properly count nouns;
Some of the students are not able to distinguish between modals of certainty and of
possibility;
Remedy plan:
The teacher will approach the students with various writing tasks, which will be
tackled gradually, once having taught several writing techniques. Written production tasks
will be included more and will cover more time in the following lessons. In addition to this,
during the next lessons, short tasks involving the use of tenses and of modals will also be
included and the students’ performance will be monitored.
