Which level(s) of thinking is/are called for in your objective? Evaluate/Justify

Why did you choose this level(s) of thinking?
I chose this level of thinking because students and I will act out the events of colonial America and
how it led the Revolutionary War, instigated the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and
thus, created the Constitution of the United States. Students will then use this information to
justify why the citizens revolted and created a new nation.

Assessment Plan- How will you Describe your assessment plan:

know students have mastered
your objectives? After lunch, students will come back and write for five minutes about what they remember from
the lesson. I will explain to them that I want to see in their writing why the colonists formed a
new nation and wrote a new government outline (Constitution of the United States). They can
write as much as they want and tell me their thoughts and feelings towards the ideas/concepts
we learned before lunch.

Is your assessment formative or summative? Why did you make that assessment decision?

This is a formative assessment because it is not the end of the unit. It is a sum up of the lesson but
it will be a guide for me and my CT to evaluate what we should teach the students again, or if we
can move on to other standards and objectives of learning.

How does it align with your objective?

This aligns with my objective because it has them justify their thoughts and reasoning of why
colonists of early America declared independence from Great Britain and how they formed a new
government for the people.

Assessment Scoring/Rubric
What are the criteria for how you 0-Student did not attempt to write
will assess student 1-Student wrote but did not mention information about creation of the Constitution
learning/student work? If you’re 2-Student wrote about why the constitution was formed or how it created a new government
using a rubric, include your rubric 3-Student wrote about why the constitution was formed and how it created a new government
here.

Students have been exposed to what symbols and individuals represent the United States and
democratic republic.

Trace the standard to the next grade level. What will students learn next related to this standard?

SS.3.C.3.4
Recognize that the Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land.

Students will learn how the Constitution of the United States establishes the rules of our nation
and how we as citizens follow these laws so everyone has a voice and can be prosperous in all
aspects of their lives.

What misconceptions might Some misconceptions students may have about the Constitution is that it is the Declaration of

Describe what/how you will differentiate:

I am differentiating this lesson based on the interests of my students and their learner profile which is
second grade. I want the lesson to be interactive and I want them to experience history like the people
and events they are learning about.

Which specific students will benefit, and why?

This lesson will benefit all my students because it gets them actively engaged with what they are learning

 Speech Emergence Level: Have them write down their thoughts on the Constitution and
government and how it applies to them. Have them write no more than 7 sentences.
 Intermediate Fluency Level: Have them write down their thoughts on the Constitution and
government and how it applies to them. Have them write no more than 7 sentences and then
orally read it to you. Encourage them to go back and edit/revise.

What accommodations will you make for students who have an IEP or 504 plan?

Two students in my class have IEP; one for a learning disability and another has visual impairments. For
my student with a learning disability, I will promote student interaction so they can learn from their
peers and provide them with more time to process their thinking. For my student with visual
impairments, I will blow up the fake paper money so he can analyze it and see what it represents. I will
also accommodate the learning area to make it more accessible for him to participate. He will also get a
chance to feel the flag and its texture.

What accommodations will you make for students identified as gifted and have an EP (education
plan)?

For my gifted students I will probe with higher-order thinking questions and have them explain to me
and their classmates their thinking about the question and content of the lesson.

Meeting your students’ needs as If applicable, how does this lesson connect to the interests and cultural backgrounds of your
