3. Harivansh has been elected as the new Deputy Chairman of

4. Justice Gita Mittal became the first-ever woman Chief Justice of Jammu
and Kashmir High Court.

5.  NCW member Rekha Sharma, who recently stoked a controversy by


suggesting the abolition of confessions in churches, has been appointed
as the chairperson of the National Commission for Women.

6.  The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has extended the term of
Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI) Chairman R.S. Sharma till
September 2020.

7.  Justice Manjula Chellur  has been appointed as  Chairperson of


Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) by the power ministry.

8.  Subrata Dutta was elected as a vice president of the newly


formed South West Asian Football Federation (SWAFF).

9. Ramesh Powar  has been appointed as head coach of


the women’s national cricket team.

1.    Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar


launched Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan
Yojana for the empowerment of women.
The scheme will provide Rs 54,100 from the
birth of a girl child till she graduates.

2. Developed by the  Federation of Indian


Export Organizations (FIEO), Niryat Mitra –
mobile App to provide wide range of information for export and import was
recently launched by  Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and
Aviation Suresh Prabhu. 

3.  Parijat Urja Chakra  in collaboration with  Krishi Vigyan Kendras


(KVKs) organized a special campaign at  Ambala in Haryana to create
awareness about the ill effects of crop residue burning and
management.

4. President of India inaugurated ‘One District one Product’ Summit


in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It is a first of its kind summit in the country
to boost trade of the MSMEs. 

Amazon partnered with UP government to provide support to MSME


entrepreneurs across nine districts.

5. Chhattisgarh has become the first state in India to provide Right


to Skills’ Development to the youth. The Chattisgarh government has
flagged off 15 Skill Chariots to launch ‘Skills on Wheels’ project in
Chhattisgarh.

6.  Union Government has constituted four-member Group of


Ministers (GoM) headed by Union Minister of Commerce and
Industry Suresh Prabhu to decide on 16-member Regional Comprehensive
Economic Partnership (RCEP) negotiations.

7. The Digital North East Vision 2022 was released in Guwahati,


Assam by Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology Ravi
Shankar Prasad. Under Digital North East, Union government will invest
nearly Rs. 10,000 crore in the region over next 4 years to implement
more than 400 projects.

1.  State Bank of India  launched  a payments


machine called MOPAD. The full form of MOPAD
is  Multi Option Payment Acceptance
Device. It is a Point of Sale (PoS)
terminal  that will allow transactions from
cards to QR code-based payments.

2.    HSBC has launched a new digital


platform- "Mydeal" to simplify the capital raising process through
capital markets by providing real-time access to information such as
investors' feedback, profiles, client orders and deal pricing.

3. Axis bank has become the first bank in the country to introduce
Iris Scan Authentication feature for Aadhaar -based transactions through
its micro ATM tablets.

4. RBI's survey of inward remittances for 2016-17 has stated that the


UAE is the top source of inward remittances, and Kerala has
received the maximum funds sent from abroad.

5.  The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has transferred surplus


(dividend) of Rs. 50,000 crores to Government for the year ended in
June 2018, over 63% more than Rs 30,659 crore which it transferred in
2017.

6. Exim Bank has signed a multilateral cooperation agreement with


member development banks of BRICS to undertake “collaborative
research” in distributed ledger/blockchain technology.

ranks Pune as the best city to live in. The
survey rated 111 cities in India.

3.  UK-based online market research and data analytics firm YouGov
announced SBI to be the most patriotic brand. SBI is followed by
Tata Motors. 

4.  Annie Zaidi was awarded the Hindu Playwright Award 2018 for
her play Untitled-1, at the launch of the 14th edition of The Hindu Theatre

communication exercise under

Command.

1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, launched


PARIVESH (Pro-Active and Responsive
facilitation by Interactive, Virtuous and
Environmental Single-window Hub) on the
occasion of World Biofuel Day.

It is a single registration and single sign-in for all


types of clearances (i.e. Environment, Forest,
Wildlife and CRZ clearances).

4. The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu released the


book ‘Bebak Baat’, authored by the Minister of State for Parliamentary
Affairs and Statistics & Programme Implementation, Shri Vijay Goel.

5.  Santhali has become the first Indian tribal language to get a
Wikipedia edition in its own script after the Santhali Wikipedia went live
earlier this month.

6.  India’s only lab for the conservation of endangered species,


National Wildlife Genetic Resource Bank (NWGRB) inaugurated by Dr.
Harsh Vardhan in Hyderabad.

7.  Punjab  government started a  ‘Tatkal Sewa’  for property


registration across the state.

8.  Railway minister Piyush Goyal announced that Jodhpur in


Rajasthan topped in the cleanest railway station in the recent ranking
of the ‘Swachh Rail’.

9.  Chandrayaan-2 lander would be named ‘Vikram’ after Vikram


Sarabhai, the father of Indian space programme.

10.  Madhya government had decided to honor families of martyrs of

11. The NITI Aayog and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) have


signed a MoU on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and entered
into a three-year partnership.

of  94  in Chennai. He was popularly referred to

6.  Chhattisgarh Governor Balramji Das Tandon, died following a
heart attack, in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
