    STEPS TO USING THE CHOP

    SAW TO SAFELY CROSSCUT A


    PIECE OF WOOD.
    1. Check yourself for safety
    • Hair tied back

    • Safety glasses on

    • Wearing appropriate shoes

    • Nothing dangling down from neck.

    2. Measure your piece of wood accurately


    • Your piece of wood should be measured and marked clearly and accurately

    • if necessary, use a speed square to define the line of your cut.

    • Place an “X” on the scrap side of your measurement, and the dimension on the
    keep side.

    3. Prep the workspace


    • Make sure that the blade is on the scrap side of your measurement. (Scrap
    should be on the right side in most cases.)

    • Make sure your work piece is flat on the table, and tight against the fence. (Use
    the clamp if necessary.)

    • Check that your hand placement is outside the circle, and your thumbs are tight
    to your palm.

    • Double check to make sure your blade is in the correct place.

    • Raise the blade up all the way off of the work piece.

    4. Start the blade (Press the lock off button first!)


    5. Make your cut
    • Keep the workpiece flat on the table and tight to the fence

    • Continuously check to make sure your fingers are safely away from the blade.

    • Pull the blade towards you, then push down all the way, then push forward
    through your cut.

    6. Make sure the blade comes to a complete stop before


    raising it up to clear your workpiece.
