of English language being carried out in many countries. It is specially designed to judge the everyday
English skills of people who want to work in an international environment.

Types of TOEIC
TOEIC consists of two types of tests. First is the TOEIC Listening and Reading Tests, which consists of
different comprehension assessment activities. The comprehension is divided into two equal parts of
990 score in total.
One of these comprehension tests consists of listening comprehension and the other is reading
comprehension. The candidates obtain score on a scale of 5 to 495, which later adds to a total score of
990.

These scores are furthermore demonstrated according to a specific color allotted to them.

For a score between 10 and 215, the color allotted is ORANGE

For a score between 220 and 465, the color allotted is BROWN
For a score between 470 and 725, the color allotted is GREEN
For a score between 730 and 850, the color allotted is BLUE

The second type of TOEIC is the newer TOEIC Speaking and Writing Test, which was introduced in the
year 2006. It consists of various parameters to measure the English skills of a candidate. It includes
pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, fluency, overall coherence and structure, which make up for a
score of 400 in total.

Candidates get separate scores for speaking and writing. They also get an option to appear for the
speaking test only, leaving the writing test. It approximately takes 20 minutes to complete this test;
however the writing test takes 60 minutes. Further, each of these tests comprises of 200 marks which
are then added to a total of 400.

Another type of TOEIC is the TOEIC Bridge test, which is a simplified version. It is designed for beginners
and intermediate speakers. Time duration for TOEIC bridge test is 1 hour approximately and consists of
100 multiple choice questions.

It is important to note for the students that many institutes also conduct a personal version of TOEIC to
measure the candidates on their own parameters. This kind of Institutional TOEIC test is conducted in
the time and locations decided by the institute.
