3.4. Functions
Description of module 2 of the engine fusebox :
z Distribution and protection of the BAT + and ignition plus electrical supplies to the components connected to
the main harness and the engine harness
z Protection of the BAT+ and ignition plus electrical supplies to the components in the event of a short circuit
to earth of these connections or of an internal short circuit of these components or of excess current due to
abnormal operation of the component (prolonged jamming of an electric motor, for example) by melting of
the corresponding fuse
z "power latch" electrical supply to the engine ECU and some of its actuators (maintaining of the engine ECU
supply after the ignition plus has been switched off)
z Cutting off of the fuel pump in the event of a vehicle impact (triggering of the airbags)
z Protection of the circuit in the event of inversion of the battery terminals
z Control of the electrical supply to the starter on the order of the engine management ECU
z Control of the vacuum pump on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN and electrical protection of its
supply line
z Control of the supply to the air conditioning blower on the order of the BSI 1 via the COMFORT CAN
z Control of the horn on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Control of the dipped headlamps on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Supplying of a backup supply in the event of loss of a component which is essential for the switching on or
maintaining of the dipped headlamps
z Control of the main beam headlamps on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Control of the front fog lamps on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Control of the direction indicators on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Control of the front wash-wipe pump on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Control of the rear wash-wipe pump on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Control of the headlamp wash pump on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Control of the air conditioning compressor on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Modulation of the capacity of the air conditioning compressor on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Generation of an ignition plus signal on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN and protection of its
supply line
z Control of the generation of the ignition plus signal, in the event of loss of communication on the BODY
CAN
z Generation of the engine running signal on the order of the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Acquisition of the engine oil level signal and communication of the status to the BSI 1 via the CAN
(depending on engine)
z Energising of the alternator (supply for priming of the alternator), acquisition of the signal and
communication of the status to the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Acquisition of the engine oil pressure warning signal and communication of the status to the BSI 1 via the
BODY CAN
z Acquisition of the engine oil temperature warning signal and communication of the status to the BSI 1 via the
BODY CAN
z Acquisition of the screenwash level signal and communication of the status to the BSI 1 via the BODY CAN
z Acquisition of the engine coolant level signal
z Acquisition of the reversing lights signal
