At the end of the lesson, the students of eighth grade of SMPN 5 Banjarmasin will be able
to identify specific information of greeting card by answering the questions given with 80%
correctly and accurately.

untuk berperan aktif, kreatif, kritis dan komunikatif dalam proses pembelajaran. Pendidik
sebagai mediator dalam hal pemanfaatan TIK ini disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan
kurikulum.Banyak manfaat positif yang dapat pendidik gunakan dalam perencanaan sampai
pada hasil belajar peserta didik.
Manfaat dari penggunaan TIK dalam pembelajaran adalah. (ODLAC, 2008:5
Pemanfaatan TIK memberikan kesempatan pada peserta didik untuk dapat belajar
menggunakan bahasa secara bermakna dan dengan materi otentik. Peserta didik dapat
memanfaatkan video-sharing, podcast, Youtube, Online Newspaper sebagai materi dalam
proses pembelajaran. Dalam hal ini, para peserta didik dapat berkomunikasi berkolaborasi
dengan peserta didik lain melalui chat-room tanpa ada rasa takut salah dalam pengucapan
maupun tata bahasa. Pada saat inilah para peserta didik dapat meningkatkan keterampilan
.Pemanfaatan TIK memberikan kesempatan kepada pendidik untuk dapat lebih memahami
berbagai gaya belajar peserta didik baik yang audio, visual, audiovisual, maupun yang
kinestetik. Hal ini dimungkinkan dengan sumber belajar yang beragam dan dapat menggunakan
model blended learning dimana peserta didik dapat bertatap muka melalui online dengan
sumber belajar itu sendiri. Dengan demikian peserta didik akan mendapatkan pembelajaran
otentik dan menyenangkan.

Jawaban
Untuk membuat grup, pilihlah “create yang ada di panel sebelah kiri halaman depan Edmodo
Anda.
Jendela baru akan terbuka dimana Anda dapat menamai grup/kelompok dan mengisi detail dari
grup ini (seperti misalnya tingkatan kelas (grade) dan mata pelajaran). Setelah selesai klik
tombol create dan Edmodo akan menampilkan 6 digit kode grup. Kode ini yang akan diberikan
kepada calon siswa yang akan tergabung di grup/kelompok mata pelajaran tertentu. Grup-grup
yang Anda buat akan tampil di panel sebelah kiri halaman depan Edmodo Anda.
Jika siswa Anda sudah memiliki akun Edmodo sebelumnya, mereka bisa langsung bergabung
dengan grup/kelompok mata pelajaran Anda dengan cara mengklik join yang ada di panel grup
sebelah

Segera setelah adanya siswa baru yang tergabung di grup/kelompok tertentu, Anda akan mendapatkan
notifikasi. Catatan, sebaiknya Anda mengunci atau me-reset kode grup tersebut setelah semua siswa yang
dimaksud tergabung di grup mata pelajaran Anda. Hal ini untuk menghindari adanya individu yang tidak

diinginkan dan tidak berkepentingan tergabung di kelas Anda. Untuk mengatur sebuah grup/kelompok
tertentu, pilih grup yang akan diatur yang ada di panel sebelah kiri. Setelah itu akan tampil di panel sebelah
kanan 6 digit kode grup dan juga “group setting”. Pilih menu drop down yang ada di sebelah kanan kode
grup untuk mengunci (lock) atau memasang kembali (reset). Jika Anda memilih reset, maka Edmodo akan
memberikan 6 digit kode baru dan jika Anda memilih lock maka grup ini akan dikunci sehingga tidak
memungkinkan siapapun untuk mendaftar di grup ini. Pilihlah “group setting” yang ada di bawah kode
grup. Di dalam halaman pengaturan grup Anda dapat melakukan beberapa hal, yaitu: (1) mengubah nama
grup, (2) mengubah pengaturan bahwa seluruh anggota baru hanya bisa membaca saja (artinya mereka
tidak dapat mengirimkan pesan didalam grup ini), (3) mengubah tingkatan kelas dan nama mata
dalam grup ini), (3) mengubah tingkatan kelas dan nama mata pelajaran di grup, (4)
mengarsipkan grup (Archieve the group) artinya pada akhir semester atau tahun ajaran Anda
mungkin ingin mengarsipkan grup ini karena kegiatan kelas sudah berakhir, dan (5) menghapus
group.

My Propose Day

I woke up at about five o'clock yesterday. It wasn't a regular day, because I was about to
propose a girl. After praying and taking a bath, I had my early breakfast. At about nine
o'clock I was in my office but my soul wasn't there. I was thinking about the lines that I
had to say to her. At one o'clock, I had my lunch but I wasn't enjoying it either. So, I
practiced the lines to almost all girls I met at my lunch. Yes, I was a little bit crazy. Finally,
it was three o'clock. I remembered all my lines. I wrapped my works and got ready to pick
her up and of course proposed her.

I met her at four o'clock, took a little walk and went to a movie. At seven, we had a romantic
dinner. I thought it was the perfect time to ask her to be my wife. Then I said the lines that
I practiced the whole afternoon. She smiled. I reached my pocket to get a ring and put it
around her finger. Then she said "Yes." After driven her home I went back to my house.

Once upon a time,there was a small village in Baghdad.Its population was very small. In
this village everybody knew each other and knew every little or big problems that went on in the

Tornados occur when the conditions that cause thunderstorms are unusually violent. Winds blow in
opposite directions around a strong updraft start a narrow, violent whirl. Centrifugal force effectively throws
the air away from the center, leaving a core of very low pressure. This is much like stirring water in a cup, thus

building; tornados have been known to pick up automobiles, horses, and whole trees.
A tornado usually moves toward the east (or often northeast in the Northern Hemisphere and
southeast Hemisphere) at 25 to 40 miles (40 to 65 kilometers) per hour. Fortunately, most tornados are less
than half a mile (800 meters) wide; the edge of one may destroy all of the houses on one side of a street while
leaving those on the other side completely undamaged.
Deaths from tornados in the United State averaged roughly 100 per year over the last century.
However, they have dropped somewhat in recent decades as better forecasting and warning system have
been implemented.

Rini Murtini is 49 years old and lives in Bandar Lampung. She is a simple lady who is trying to do
big things for her environment. She encourages people in her kampong to lead a green life. She

Jellyfish are not really fish. They are invertebratea nimals. This means that unlike
fish or people, they have no backbones. In fact, they have no bones at all.
Jellyfish have stomachs and mouths, but no heads. They have nervous systems
for sensing the world around them, but no brains. They are made almost

Some jellyfish can glow in darkness by making their own light. The light is made
by a chemical reaction inside the jellyfish. Scientists believe jellyfish glow for
several reasons. For example, they may glow to scare away predators or to
attract animals they like to eat.
Most jellyfish live in salt water, apart from e few types that live in fresh water.
Jellyfish are found in oceans and seas all over the world. They live in warm,

Making coloured and scented candles is really quick and simple. What's more,
you'll save so much money. If making candle is easy, why do you ever buy one from
a shop? What you need in making candle are wax, moulds, wick, dye discs, essential
oils, and a double boiler. All these materials are available from craft shops. Or if
you do not want to buy them, you can improvise with an old saucepan, Pyrex jug, or
even a sturdy can, in a pot of water. After providing the materials, follow this
procedure or instruction in making candles!
First of all, melt the wax. All wax has a flash point, so to prevent it bursting into
flames; you must melt it in a double boiler, with water in the bottom of the pan.
Then, prepare the mould with the wick. Thread the wick through the mould and
make sure that you leave a good few centimeters sticking out of the hole in the
bottom. After that, add the scent. If you want a scented candle, add a few drops
of essential oil to the melted wax. You can use any essential oil you like, as long as
it doesn’t contain water. Next step, pour the wax into the mould. Try and tip the
wax into the mould quickly, all in one go, to minimize spillage and air bubbles.
Then, release the bubbles and top it up. Releasing the air bubbles will eventually
make the candle sink, so you will need to top it up with more melted wax.
Finally, remove it from the mould. After four or five hours, the candle can be
taken out of its mould. Your candle is now ready for display. Remember, you must
always leave it for a day before lighting it.

letters. In the past people of Rome had a good way for circulating written news. Their first
written news was called ActaDiurna or daily events. It was posted by the government in the
public places.

In the past the government of china produced a news sheet, called tipao. It was only
circulated among court officials during the Han dynasty. At some point during the Tang dynasty,
carved wooden blocks were used to print tipao. It was the first printed newspaper in history.

A newspaper with a regular schedule was first published in Venice, Italy, in the 16 th
century. The newspaper was called avisi, or Gazzetes. It was published weekly and it reported
news from other parts or Italy and Europe brought to Venice by traders. The first newspaper in
England was published in 1621.

English newspapers were different from the other first newspapers. They were among the
first in the world to use headlines to attract readers and pictures to illustrate stories. English
newspapers also set new business standards. They hired reporters, printed advertisement, and
paid young people to sell papers in the streets. Newspaper has a long history. It will continue to

Tornados occur when the conditions that cause thunderstorms are unusually violent. Winds

horses, and whole trees.

A tornado usually moves toward the east (or often northeast in the Northern Hemisphere and
southeast Hemisphere) at 25 to 40 miles (40 to 65 kilometers) per hour. Fortunately, most tornados are
less than half a mile (800 meters) wide; the edge of one may destroy all of the houses on one side of a
street while leaving those on the other side completely undamaged.

social function and generic structure. However if they are analyzed carefully, the slight difference
between the two text types will reveal.
The purpose of the two texts are to give the live-description of the object/participant. Both the report
and descriptive text try to show rather than tell the reader about the factual condition of the object.
Readers by themselves will catch the impressive point of the object through that showing writing
style. What make different, between report and descriptive text, is the scope of the written object. If
we talk about, eg: bicycle, it belongs to report text. It will talk about bicycle in general; its parts,
physical strengh, function for certain people or other general characters of bike. In the other hand,
descriptive text will convey more focus, for example "my bicycle" with its specific characters; colour,
lengh, wheel style, etc.

In short, report text describes the way of certain things and frequently refer to phenomenon of
nature, animal and scientific object. Mostly, report is written after getting careful observation. This
scientific and technical sense make clearer difference from descriptive text. The way of descriptive
text in showing thing is based on the objective fact of the thing. It describe the specific thing simply as
the thing is.
Beberapa jenis Teks memang sulit untuk dibedakan. Karena mempunyai perbedaan yang sangat tips.
Dan begitu juga dengan Report dan Descriptive karea memang dua jenis Text ini mempunyai fungsi
social dan Generic structure yang sama, untuk membedakan antara Report dan Deskriptive harus
dianalisa secara teliti dan terperinci.
Perbedaan yang terlihat jelas antara Report dan Descriptive text adalah bagaimana dan apa yang
dideskripsikan. Apa yang dideskripsikan berarti apakah itu benda secara umum atau benda secara
khsusus, kalau Report adalah pendeskripsian benda atau object secara umum, sedangkan Deskriptive
teks adalah pendeskripsian benda atau object tertentu secara khusus.
Contoh kasus seperti ini. Kita akan menjelaskan tentang “ IBU” kalau kita menjelaskan Ibu dari segi
umum, misalnya saja ibu adalah orang yang melahirkan kita, Ibu hamil selama Sembilan bulan dan
merawat kita dari kecil hingga sekarang dan lain lain, maka teks itu disebut dengan report karena
menjelaskan Ibu secara umum. Sedangkan kalau kita mempunyai teks berjudul “ IBU “ dan isi dari teks
tersebut adalah menejaskan kapan ibu bangun, kapan ibu merawat saya, ibu saya berbadan gemuk
dan baik. Beliau adalah pemasak yang handal. Maka teks tentang ibu ini disebut dengan teks
Deskriptive karena menjelaskan sesuatu secara khusus. Walaupun kedua teks tersebut sama sama
berjudul “ IBU”

Making coloured and scented candles is really quick and simple. What's more, you'll save so
much money. If making candle is easy, why do you ever buy one from a shop? What you
need in making candle are wax, moulds, wick, dye discs, essential oils, and a double boiler.
All these materials are available from craft shops. Or if you do not want to buy them, you
can improvise with an old saucepan, Pyrex jug, or even a sturdy can, in a pot of water.
After providing the materials, follow this procedure or instruction in making candles!
First of all, melt the wax. All wax has a flash point, so to prevent it bursting into flames;
you must melt it in a double boiler, with water in the bottom of the pan.
Then, prepare the mould with the wick. Thread the wick through the mould and make sure
that you leave a good few centimeters sticking out of the hole in the bottom. After that,
add the scent. If you want a scented candle, add a few drops of essential oil to the melted
wax. You can use any essential oil you like, as long as it doesn’t contain water. Next step,
pour the wax into the mould. Try and tip the wax into the mould quickly, all in one go, to
minimize spillage and air bubbles.
Then, release the bubbles and top it up. Releasing the air bubbles will eventually make the
candle sink, so you will need to top it up with more melted wax.
Finally, remove it from the mould. After four or five hours, the candle can be taken out of
its mould. Your candle is now ready for display. Remember, you must always leave it for a
day before lighting it.

so she decided it would be best if she ran away. The next morning she ran away
from home when her Aunt and Uncle were having breakfast.
She ran away into the woods. Then she saw this little cottage. She knocked but
no one answered so she went inside and fell asleep. Meanwhile, the seven dwarfs
were coming home from work. They went inside. There they found Snow White
sleeping. Then Snow White woke up. She saw the dwarfs. The dwarfs said, “what is
your name?” Snow White said, “My name is Snow White.”

Doc, one of the dwarfs, said, “If you wish, you may live here with us.” Snow
White said, “Oh could I? Thank you.” Then Snow White told the dwarfs the whole
story and finally Snow White and the 7 dwarfs lived happily ever after.

Banyuwangi
Once upon a time, there reigned in East Java a king named Sindureja. He had
a prime minister named Sidapaksa. Sidapaksa had a very beautiful wife.
Sidapaksa loved his wife deeply. They lived in complete happiness. However,
Sidapaksa’s mother didn’t like her duaghter-in-law. Each day she tried to think a
way to seperate Sidapaksa from his wife.

One day, King Sindureja asked Sidapaksa to search for the bud of amagic
flower on Mount Ijen. It was along and dangerous journey. The assignment from
the king was so important and urgent. Sidapaksa had to leave his pregnant wife.
Not long afterwards, a son was born. The baby’s birth gave much happines
to the young mother.
However, one day, while this young mother was bathing, her evil mother-
in-law threw the baby into the river. Knowing that her baby had disappeared, the
young mother was very sad. She could neither eat nor sleep. She became very ill.
Two years passed and Sidapaksa returned from his journey. He succeded in
doing his duty. Just as he was about enter his house, her mother told him that his
wife had thrown their baby into the river.
Sidapaksa believed his mother’s story. He was too angry to use his common
sense. He drew his kris and approached his wife who was lying weak on her bed.
“Ah wicked woman. Tell me why you threw our new-born child inti the river.
Tell me!” he said in a rough and angry voice.
“Oh my dearest husband. I am innocent. I love you, and our baby. I didn’t
kill our child.
If you don’t believe me, carry me to the river. I will prove that I didn’t do it,”
replied his wife calmly.

Sidapaksa took her wife to the edge of the river. Suddenly, his wife leaped
uo and threw herself into the river.
“Oh my God! How will I know who killed my child?” moaned Sidapaksa.

Then, he looked downa ta the water. Suddenly, two pure whit flower buds
appeared, one larger and taller than the other. A sweet fragrance came from
them.
“Sidapaksa, look here! Beside me is our child. He himself will tell you who
drowned him,” the taller one spoke.

“Father, my mother is innocent. Grandmother threw me into the river. Now
i’m happy because my beloved mother has come with me,” the smaller one
spoke. Then, the flowers vanished into the water. They left their fragrance
behind.
Since then, people call the city on its bank of the river, Banyuwangi, banyu
means water and wangi means fragrant.

Mantu’s little Elephant

Little Mantu lived in a village deep in the jungle. When


elephants helped the men with their work. These elephants were
so big and strong. They could lift up the heaviest logs with their

The tortoise came out of the lake and stood by the side of the peacock, in his own

pond, observing the scene, approached the animals. The peacock flew up a tree and safely
perched on its top, but the tortoise, was laid on his back and killed by the hunter, before he
could reach the pond.

RESOLUTION
The peacock cried mournfully, “Sir Tortoise, now you know how dangerous it is to
get into difficulties from which we cannot easily escape.”

TEXT 3 THE GOLDEN CUCUMBER

ORIENTATION
Once upon a time, near a jungle, lived a farmer couple, a husband and a wife. Every
day they prayed for a child.
One night, while they were praying, a giant passed by their home. The giant heard
them pray and said

COMPLICATION
Time passed and Timun was alost 17 years old. They knew they had to keep their
promise to the giant but they also did not want to lose their beloved daughter. They called
Timun Mas and said : “My daughter, take this bag. It can save you from the giant,”said the
father.
“What giant? What do you mean, Father? I don’t understand,” said Timun Mas. The
farmers narrated the story of her birth to Timun Mas.
Right then, the giant entered their house. “Run Timun Mas. Save your life!” said the
mother. The giant shouted angrily when he heard this. Timun Mas had started running. He ran
after her. Timun Mas looked behind and saw that the giant was getting closer and closer.
She opened the bag and threw a handful of salt at him. It became a sea. The giant had
to swim to cross the sea. When she saw that the giant was nearing her again, she opened the
bag and threw some chiliesin his path. The chilies grew and formed a jungle blocking his way.
The sharp thorns on the trees hurt the giant.
However he cut away the trees and continued chasing Timun Mas. Timun Mas took
her third magic stuff. It was cucumber seeds. She threw them and they turned into a cucumber
field. The giant’s legs were tangled in the cucumber creepers and he kept falling down.
Still the giant managed to escape and continued running after Timun Mas. Timun
searched her bag again. She had one last magic stuff in the bag. It was a terasi (shrimp paste).
She threw it at him and the terasi turned into a big swamp.
RESOLUTION
The giant tried to swim across the swamp. But he was too tired by now and drowned
in the swamp. Seeing that the giant had died , Timun Mas went back home. Timun’s parents
were happy to see their daughter return and the family was finally together again.

THE SMARTEST PARROT

Once upon time, a man had a wonderful parrot. There was no other parrot like it. The
parrot could say every word, except one word. The parrot would not say the name of the
place where it was born. The name of the place was Catano.
The man felt excited having the smartest parrot but he could not understand why the
parrot would not say Catano. The man tried to teach the bird to say Catano, however the
bird did not say the word.
At first, the man was very nice to the bird but then he got very angry. “You stupid bird!”
pointed the man to the parrot. “Why can’t you say the word? Say Catano! Or I will kill
you” the man said angrily. Although he tried hard to teach, the parrot would not say it.
Then the man got so angry and shouted to the bird over and over; “Say Catano or I’ll kill
you”. The bird kept not to say the word of Catano.
One day, after he had been trying so many times to make the bird say Catano, the man
really got very angry. He could not bear it. He picked the parrot and threw it into the
chicken house. There were four old chickens for next dinner “You are as stupid as the
chickens. Just stay with them” Said the man angrily. Then he continued to humble; “You
know, I will cut the chicken for my meal. Next it will be your turn, I will eat you too,
stupid parrot”. After that he left the chicken house.
The next day, the man came back to the chicken house. He opened the door and was very
surprised. He could not believe what he saw at the chicken house. There were three
death chickens on the floor. At the moment, the parrot was standing proudly and
screaming at the last old chicken; “Say Catano or I’ll kill you”.

Very pleased to hear all of this about herself, Miss Crow gave a loud croak to
show that she could sing.
