3. Identifying data of the client is as follows:


The client is a boy 14 years old, he is in grade 8 and currently staying in Orchards
Pretoria. Client M stays with two sisters and his father. The father always travels to
Cape Town for work trips and he is not home every time. The two siblings are currently
studying at Tshwane University of Technology. The mother passed away when client
M was in grade 6.Client M’s parents used to stay in Soshanguve before they moved
to Orchards .

4. Home language: The client speaks isiZulu

5. The presenting problem


The client is very rude and disrespectful towards the educators especially the female
educators.

6. Historical development of the organisation’s involvement with or assistance


to the client is as follows:
Client M was once called for disciplinary hearing last term for the same problem of
being rude and disrespectful especially towards the female educators. One of the
educator once talked to the sisters of client M about the issue. The sisters complained
that client doesn’t talk he is always quiet.

7. My tentative understanding of the client in terms of theory:


My client is at adolescence stage according to the theory of child developmental of
Erickson. His behavior of disrespectful and rude especially towards female educators,
after losing his mother is something which is normal. Van Dyk (2012) client M is
experiencing sadness and depression which is one of the stages of bereavement.
Client M might be experiencing (emotions proposition 6). Van Dyk (2012:314)
mentions that, bereavement is triggered primarily by sense of loss that occurs when
we lose something or someone to which we have become attached.

8. Other professionals involved with the client:
One of the school disciplinary officer and the educator who referred the client to the
student social worker tried to talk to the client before. The teacher also met with client’
sisters to discuss about the issue.
