A Father’s Place is a center for father’s and families and is in Horry County. Its sole purpose is to
help fathers overcome the barriers of being responsible fathers. This is a free program thanks
to support for local community. Services are provided weekly in groups and one-on-one to
address personal goal and needs. Father/child activities are planned to help fathers and families
spend time together.

S.O.S Health Care, Inc.
Their mission is to partner with the community to provide hope, care, and assistance to
their neighbors. S.O.S provides services and assistance to children with Autism and their
families. They offer a wide variety of things to help families from ABA Therapy, Dogs for
Disabilities, Independent Living Skills, Job Coach Program, to Friday Knights. All these programs
are set up to help children with Autism and to show the parents how they can better help their
children also.

Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity operates around the world and has helped build, renovate, and
repair over 600,000 decent, affordable housing for over three million people worldwide.
Habitat for Humanity has an open-door policy it believes that everyone deserves a decent and
affordable place to live regardless of race or religion. They advocate for fair and just pricing for
housing, and provide training and resources to help families restore their housing. They were
founded on the belief that every man, woman, and child should have a safe, affordable place to
live in.

Churches Assisting People (CAP) is here to help families with emergency assistance in
their time of need. They are there to help efficiently and effectively, in as many ways possible
within their means. Even if this means that they coordinate assistance with other agencies.

Y I AM is a nonprofit organization that is designed to help youth improve health and personal
well-being through means of expressive activities. This program provides support and encourages
individuals (ages 12-18) to express themselves through writing, talking, and various forms of art.
Mentors work together with youth to give them a chance to improve their quality of life and reduce risks
to their well-being. They provide services for: Personal and emotional wellness, creative expression,
healthy relationships, social support, quality of life, outlets to discuss issues and concerns,
gender and orientation, developing goals and information and resources.

The Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand provides a safe and supervised environment
for school-aged youth where they can take part in positive activities & programs during the
time when their parents are at work or school. Each year during the summer time, the Club
offers a Summer Day Camp program. The Summer Day Camp program targets youth 5 to 12
years of age who are “at-risk” of being left home alone without adult supervision. They also
provide a summer club for teens ages 13-18. They also offer a volunteer Junior Staff member
program for youth who are 13 – 15 years of age during the summer time and paid Program Aide
positions in their Youth Employment Program.

Safe Kids South Carolina Coordinating Coalitions
Safe Kids local coalitions lead their communities in reducing child injury. They
coordinate local events and activities that combine education, awareness, environmental
changes and safety device distribution to get communities more involved in child safety and
keep families and children safer. Each coalition is different and focuses on a specific injury risk
areas, such as child passenger safety, bicycle safety and more.

The Red Cross works to serve those that need assistance, whether it is down the road or
across the country. They are there when someone needs lifesaving blood, or the comfort of a
helping hand. They are there to help connect military families to loved ones that are in the
service, provide training in CPR, aquatics safety, and first aid and spread humanitarian aid
around the world. Volunteers make up 90% of the workforce at the Red Cross. They are not a
government funded program they rely on donations of time, money, and blood to do their
work.
