ERP Module
Human Resource (HR)
Human Resource modules in particular are used to track different people-related
functions, such as planning, payroll, administration, development, hiring, and more.
Business services, like Standard Operating Procedures, job postings, news, forums,
tracking of work hours, and benefits, etc., can all be unified into one module, which
makes overall management and decision-making easier.
Automated processes that free up management- An ERP module data, once set
up, will be more accessible. This simultaneously makes it easier to enter and pull
data together into reports. And because large parts of daily tasks can be
automated, you can ensure that what you need to complete is actually achieved.
Enhanced sharing of information and collaboration- With ERP for HR, data is
stored in a central location, or brought together to a central location, which
means that data from different sources can be shared faster and easier.
Management gains a clearer picture of HR- For example, in most modules you
can track overtime hours of employees, and receive alerts when overtime is past
a certain threshold.
Data is kept up-to-date
Reduced licensing expenses
Sage Accpac HRMS also includes powerful reporting and analysis tools that provide
customized insight on almost any HR issue. Hundreds of standard report templates are
included. An integrated database is designed to feed a steady flow of information to
managers and staff.
This solution is a good choice that gives users a voice in its design and operation. It's
tailored for midsize manufacturing businesses.
Microsoft Axapta Human Resource Management III: Compatible with the Microsoft
Dynamics AX ERP and building on HR support provided by Axapta versions I and II, this
module supplies features that support the career development of individual employees
— a capability overlooked by many other HR modules.
The software aims to help businesses create professional development plans focused on
employee's goals and skills. Features include a "competence framework" with a
development process that incorporates personal interviews, training curriculums, skills
matching, skill-gap analysis and other components. The software's various processes
are collaborative and allow follow-up from employees and managers to improve
dialogue between the two groups.
Microsoft Corp. isn't exactly renowned for its innovative application software, but
Microsoft Axapta Human Resource Management III is a pleasing exception to the rule.
Case study- A success story
Abstract
Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) is one of the integrated steel plants of SAIL producing mainly
flat products. In order to improve product quality, increase customer satisfaction and to
sustain the global competition, ERP in the existing infrastructure of the steel industry is
essential as it helps reduction in day to day efforts in managing business transactions in
the long run. In such a global competition era, ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) has
become the focus of corporate operation and management.
The objective of this case is to investigate the suitability and the implementation status
of ERP systems in Rourkela Steel Plant.
•The software is mostly discrete in functionality and support only the mapped
process/function without much enterprise level integration. This results in duplication of
data and effort and inappropriate mapping of functional requirement.
• The system required continuous involvement of programmers for day to day business
transaction.
RSP Finance and Materials are fully computerized by legacy systems and are tightly
linked with RSP’s other on-line computerized systems in Dispatching, Personnel,
Production etc. As all existing applications are mission critical, seamless
implementation without any break of service anywhere, has been the prime
consideration in selecting the areas.
Current
The present software in use has been developed in-house by Computer and
information Technology Department at RSP(C&IT). The back-end data servers are on
RISC platform running Solaris 2.5 as the Operating system. The majority of the
applications have been built using COBOL, C,Pro*C and Pro*COBOL and are Oracle 7.0. C
& IT department also has the ppc system using a different RISC server and Oracle 10G.
Conclusion
All major processes related to the functions of Finance, Materials Management, Sales &
Distribution, Production planning and execution, Plant Maintenance and Quality
Management. Can be configured and customized for RSP in the ERP system.
