    1) Petrobras – Petrobras Distribuidora

    The top oil company in Brazil (by revenue) is Petrobras. Petrobras has a de
    facto monopoly in derivate of production and a “nearly-monopoly” in oil extraction.
    Petrobras Distribuidora or BR, subsidiary of Petrobras, is the largest distributor and
    marketer of petroleum derivatives and biofuels (ethanol) of Brazil and Latin America. The
    company has more than 7,000 gas stations in Brazil.

    There are also several other companies in Brazil, such as BP and Exxon. In the
    distribution sector, however, you have plenty of competition such as Ipiranga and Raizen
    (Shell + Cosan) they are also very well positioned. There small distributors as well, but
    they don’t have anywhere near the same tractions of those three.

    2) Ipiranga

    Ipiranga is a Brazilian fuel company and is a subsidiary of Ultra. It is the second-largest


    Brazilian fuel distribution company, and the largest in the private sector. The company
    has about 6,500 gas stations across the country and 1,400 convenience stores. Ipiranga
    owns the am/pm chain of convenience stores, Jet Oil oil change services, Km de
    Vantagens loyalty program, and ConectCar prepaid system for electronic payment of tolls
    and parking.

    3) Raizen

    Raízen is the third largest Brazilian energy company by revenue and the fifth largest in
    Brazil. The company is a joint-venture formed in 2010 from the merger of the assets of
    sugar, fuel and ethanol derived from sugar from Cosan and Royal Dutch Shell in Brazil.
    Raízen has a network of 4,500 fuel stations under the Shell brand, more than 500
    convenience stores and an ethanol production of over 2.2 billion US gallons. In the fuel
    area, the joint venture will market approximately 20 billion liters for the segments of
    transport, industry and its network of 4,500 fuel stations.
