6. Mr. Smith has taken a loan from a credit corporation. Compute the number of months it

being RM120.00 and the amount increases by RM60.00 each month after the first

7. Madam Alice bought a new car for RM54, 000.00. If the value of the car depreciates at a
rate of 10% each year from the book value, find the value of the car after 14 years.

8. A driving academy has set up an initial sum of RM35, 000.00 to award RM2, 600.00
annually to the best driver. This fund is kept in a financial institute paying an interest of
8% per annum. If the first award is given out exactly a year after the fund was set up in
the financial institute, find the number of drivers that can be awarded continuously.

9. Calculate the interest due, if the present value and future value are RM520, 000.00 and
RM740, 000.00 respectively due at the end of the period of 15 years. (10 marks)

10. Saga Plex store is having a clearance sale. If the selling price of a vacuum machine is
RM685.00 and a discount of 28% is offered due to the sale, how much would a customer
pay for the vacuum machine? (10 marks)

16. Mr. Nelson’s initial salary was RM4, 000.00 per annum. He is given a rise in salary of
RM200.00 each year. Find

a. His salary on the 12th year of service, (10 marks)

b. The total salary he received after 12 years of service. (10 marks)

17. A small piece of land in a prime location costs RM800, 000.00. Each year it increases by
10% of the value at the beginning of the year.

c. State the value after n years in terms of n, (8 marks)


d. Calculate its value after 8 years in the nearest RM. (8 marks)

18. At the beginning of every year, Dr. Robert deposits RM4, 000.00 into his bank account.
The bank pays an interest of 6% annually. He keeps all the interest received in the bank.
Find the sum of his savings in the bank at the end of the 10th year (including interest
received in the 10th year). If he withdraws a sum of RM20, 000.00 at the end of the 10th
year and he stops making further deposits, calculate his savings at the end of the 14th year.

Sylphia bank. The loan is repaid by 60 equal yearly installments. The first payment being
made the year after the loan was taken. If the interest charged on the loan is 7% yearly,
find the amount to be paid each year. (16 marks)

29. Compute the present value, if the future value is RM760, 000.00 due to the period of 13
years at an interest of 6.5%. (10 marks)

30. Calculate the selling price of a curtain, if the cost to make it is RM860.00 and a mark up
of 26% is made to earn a profit. (10 marks)
