So, here is the first SHS Key Club Newsletter of the 2010- Tentative Schedule. .2
2011 school year! And what a year it shall be. This newsletter
has a list and description of all the activities planned for first Routine Projects………3
semester. I’ve also put in the procedures that we discussed at 09-10 at a glance…….3
the September 7th meeting.
In other news, we are very happy with the turn out at the Executive Board.......3
meeting last week. As Key Club officers, we love to see our
fellow Key Clubbers striving to make an impact on their
community. Whether you joined Key Club to improve the
community, to give you something to put on college
applications, to just use some up some free time, or any other First 6 Week’s Meetings:
reason, we welcome you and sincerely hope you can get the Aug. 31st, 2010

Routine Projects

SERVICE
Horses for Handicapped - Occurs most every Saturday morning from 9:00am
until noon. Horses for Handicapped is a private non-profit program, for the purpose
of promoting and teaching therapeutic horseback riding for the handicapped. Our
Key Club, along with Kiwanis and other groups volunteer at Horses for
Handicapped. Our members usually act as side-walkers. That is, we steady the rider
as we walk along beside them and the horse. There are two sessions, and you do not
have to stay the entire three hours.

Sandwich Make/ Cookie Bake - Takes place once a six weeks after Tuesday LEADERSHIP
meetings in Mrs. Miller’s room. Members bring in bread, peanut butter, jelly, and
cookie dough. Basically, we make as many sandwiches and cookies as possible.
The makings are taken to a community homeless shelter, where they greatly 2010-2011 Executive Board
appreciate our efforts! Typically, you get one hour for this activity, plus the fun of

Campus Clean-up’s / Keep Florida Beautiful - Occurring once in a six week Name Evan Dolling
time period, we take time after a meeting day to gather trash throughout our schools Title Vice President

With Kristin Hubbell as Seminole High’s Key Club president, we Name Sarah Miller
lead a very successful year as a club. As last year was my own Title Faculty Advisor/Kiwanis Advisor
first year in Key Club, I can vouch that it was a great experience
that I’m glad I had the chance to have. This year, with Carrie
Hoffman as president, along with the rest of our wonderful
officers, I believe we can further enhance the experiences that
you, as members, can get out of this club! Now, here’s a quick
peak of all the great times we had last year! You can also look at
Seminole High’s Key Club scrapbook on our Facebook group for
another look at the types of opportunities you will get in this club.
