License Agreement
All computer programs copyright 1990-2004 by Siemens Corporation or its suppliers. Pro-
grams are licensed under the following agreement:
Siemens or its suppliers retain(s) ownership of and title to any computer program supplied
with the equipment and to the trade secrets embodied in such computer programs. Sub-
ject to the Buyer’s acceptance and fulfillment of the obligations in this paragraph, Siemens
grants the Buyer a personal, non-transferable, perpetual, non-exclusive license to use any
computer program supplied with the Equipment that is necessary to operate the Equip-
ment solely on the medium in which such program is delivered for the purpose of operat-
ing the equipment in accordance with the instructions set forth in the operator’s manuals
supplied with the Equipment and for no other purpose whatsoever. Buyer may not
reverse-assemble, reverse-compile or otherwise reverse-engineer such computer pro-
grams nor may Buyer make a copy of such program or apply any techniques to derive the

restrain such use, threatened or actual. Buyer further agrees that (i) any of Siemens"s
suppliers of software is a direct and intended beneficiary of this end-user sublicense and
may enforce it directly against Buyer with respect to software supplied by such supplier,
and (ii) No supplier of Siemens shall be liable to buyer for any general, special, direct, indi-
rect, consequential, incidental or other damages arising out of the sublicense of the com-
puter programs supplied with the equipment.

The SONOLINE G20 system is equipped with the following tests, indicators, and
error/warning messages to aid in system diagnostics:
• Built in self test (BIST)
BIST provides system fault information that isolates a fault down to the field
replacement unit (FRU) level. The fault information is displayed on the screen when the
error occurs, stored in the error log and on the hard disk drive (HDD), and can be copied
to CD-ROM in delineated format for viewing on an external personal computer.
• Power on self test (POST)
POST tests the boot sequence of the system. The execution time of this test is 30
seconds. A progress bar is displayed on the screen while POST monitors the supply
voltages. The supply voltage LEDs are located on the software regulator unit; view
these LEDs to determine if the supply voltages are within specifications. POST can be
configured to run at each power on, daily, weekly, or off.
• LED indicators
The system is equipped with LEDs located on the I/O panel and the individual PCBs.
These LEDs indicate the state of the system, displaying whether different system
functions have passed or failed a test. An amber lit LED indicates a failure status and a
green lit LED indicates a passing status. LEDs on the PCB indicate the power status.
• S.M.A.R.T disk monitor
The G20 system checks the HHD performance through the S.M.A.R.T disk monitor.
When an error or warning occurs, a message is displayed on the screen that lists the
error or warning and how to remedy the situation. These events are logged and can be
copied to CD-ROM in delineated format for viewing on an external personal computer.
Troubleshooting Flowcharts 0
Use the troubleshooting flow charts as a guide to determine the functionality of the G20
system.
LED Indicators 0
Boot Sequence
When the system is powered on (by pressing the Standby key), the following occurs:
• The Starting progress bar is displayed.
- At this point the BIOS can be entered by pressing the Shift + S keys on a USB key-
board. The control panel is not available.
- The monitor changes to black before displaying the boot screen.
• The illumination state for LEDs #5, #6, #7, and #8 changes to orange.
• The illumination state for LEDs #5, #6, #7, and #8 changes to green.
• The imaging screen is displayed.
• The illumination state for LEDs #5, #6, #7, and #8 changes to off.
• The LED state changes based on the user input.

Troubleshooting Components
When an error occurs an error message or warning are displayed on the screen. Applica-
tion errors and warnings are logged for later review from a Service menu. The error log
can be exported to removable media. The format of the exported log is text-delineated.
If the operating temperature of the G20 system reaches its maximum value, a forced
power down will occur and all data will be saved.
If an unsupported transducer is plugged in to one of the transducer ports a message dis-
plays stating that the transducer is incompatible with the G20 system.
Error Messages
The following is a list of the error messages.
To export an error message, please use the CUI Report. To create and export the CUI
Report please see “CUI Report Screen” of the “Service Menu Screens” section.
