Discussion Week 3
We're three weeks into the class and there's a lot of material! Please post either a
question asking for clarification about some topic, or an explanation of something
that's become clearer for you studying so far. An ideal post will clearly state the topic
and either explain a topic helpfully or clearly explain where you're looking for help.
Dear Professor and Friends,
I get many insights and practical learning until three weeks from this course. I the
first week I have learned about the difference between two groups. I can understand
the way of calculating the difference between two populations, two proportions, and
two means. However, in the practical issue of implementing this theory is still
challenging. Honestly, I have a problem to calculate the z-test and t-test manually as
I cannot remember the exact formula. Yet, once I do in excel it more efficient.
Actually, I get positive impression when knowing the chi-square test. As I read the
function that help people to analyzing the goodness fit test of independent, I really
excited to learn. It makes me understand to analyzing the quantitative data then
interpreting whether the variable has correlation to another variable that I expect or
not. It means that by getting P-value we should compare to our alpha or level of
error. If the P-Value is greater than or equal to alpha it means the null hypothesis is
cannot be rejected. Yet, when P-Value is less than alpha indicates the alternative
hypothesis should be used or rejected null hypothesis. Usually, the level of
confidence is 95%. It makes the data conclusion more valid.
In practical issue of chi-square test, the observer should be able to make a decision
from the test of independent result. As the null hypothesis rejected, the observer
should consider to the correlation that has dependent correlation. If it is not rejected
null hypothesis, the observer should conclude that there is no effect to the variable
that has been expected.
Furthermore, the professor introduced statgraphics software that really helpful to
analyze the observation data and make hypothesis.
Thank you,
Tatag

Respond to at least two other posts in the discussion. Ideally either give a helpful
response to someone who needs help or let someone know exactly how you better
understood an aspect of the course based on their explanation.
Hai Lora,
That's excellent process to understand the chi-square test. You have understood to find the
test statistic properly. First, you should find the in the first row of the table. After you have a
number of X2 test statistic, you should take a look on the chi-square table on the column
side. Actually, your X2 test statistic will show you the interval of P-Value. It canno
