General Introduction

Community Profile NarrativeIdentified Assets and Challenges

There is a park in Milton, in walking distance from the library. There just isnt a sidewalk
part of the way there. With Milton growing there are now a few restaurants in the area. Most
are just local places. The closest big towns are Essex and St. Albans. The closest city is
Burlington and that is 30+ minutes away. In all there is not much in Milton besides the grocery
store, the restaurants, hardware stores, drug stores and dollar stores.

Library Profile NarrativeIdentified Assets and Challenges

Assets: The library is part of the town offices building, the police and fire department are right
next door as well. The parking lots are all connected. There is many churches in the area and
food places that tend to cater to local places a lot. In Milton there is a High School and
Elementary School. The High School is closer then the Elementary school is but both are too far
to walk to the library. During the summer the High school is a good walk to the library but in the
wintertime it would be too far.

Challenges: The challenges for the Milton Library are that there is not much for kids to do in
the area. There isnt a place for kids or teens to hang out in town. The library is pretty much the
only place for that to happen or the schools.
