Course Description The course of Translation provides students with the basic theory and practice of translation. It consists of 75%
translation practice and 25% translation theory. During the course, the students are required to be actively involved
in each meeting. The class will start with discussion about the translation theory which is then followed by
translation practice. The topics of the course are designed to show students that translation is meaning-based
rather than form-based. There will be some criteria in evaluating this course, i.e. (a) attendance (10%); (b)
participation (10%); (c) assignment (25%); (d) mid-term test (25%); and (e) final exam (30%).
Learning Goals Upon the completion of the course, the students will:
1. be able to associate the translation theory with the translation practice
2. be skillful in translation projects
