Bruce
From: Team Tryptophan (Team 2)
Date: 19 September 2017
Subject: iFixit Team Charter

Mission
Team Tryptophan aims to disassemble Logitech
Harmony Smart Keyboard by providing concise
instructions. These instructions will include visual
images of how to break down the device step by step.
Communicating through email and text message, the members of the team will collaborate
through effective communication. iFixit is a website where technicians that aspire to contribute
to repairing different technologies do so through manual explanation, for the sake of decreasing
effects of climate change (iFixit, 2017).
Project manager Hayley Nichols will be responsible for:
Updating timesheets
Making sure team members complete their part of an assignment
Editing manager Edwin Aguilar will:
Follow guidelines and revise
Transform any text presentable in an informative style
Design instructions for a beginner audience
Research manager Paula Orozco will:
Deliver accurate and precise data
Establish and direct any findings deemed relevant
Resolve problems
Given that theres no photographer, either member of the team may:
Initiate the role
Capture professional images to match beginning to end stages of the manual

Performance Expectations
All group members will contribute to written material for each assignment where their input will
be encouraged, heard, and respected as well as be subject to respect the following:
Make decisions in a supportive and professional manner
Avoid any sorts of plagiarism
If this occurs, the one responsible will be subject to firing
Carry tasks by those in their assigned role
Perform assignments diligently
Contribute to scheduled in-person group meetings
Prioritize communication throughout the duration of the project via email and text and be
able to respond within 24 hours
Each member of the team also have their own responsibilities:
The editing manager will:
Oversee and make any necessary adjustments before each deadline
The project manager will:
Provide both digital and physical copies of assignments to class when due
Upload finished assignments to iFixit and Titanium
The research manager will:
Delegate on necessary research topics to remedy any potential problems that may
arise

Conflict Resolutions
Team members will address any conflicts to the project manager or to the group during an
in-person meeting. When a dispute arises, team members must reach a beneficial outcome
through the four steps of negotiation (Wolff & Nagy, 2017, Section 6).
1. Understand the conflict
2. Communicate and listen to each team members ideas on the subject matter
3. Find and state areas of agreement
4. Explore solutions together
These steps will ensure effective collaboration among team members (Markel, 2016, p. 39).

Group Meetings and Collaboration

Lack of responses within a 24 hour period and meeting absences will be recorded by the Project
Manager, and regarded as a warning strike. Any team member that fails to meet a deadline
pertaining to their role will be subject to address from the Project Manager, or another member
of the team. Likewise, lack of contribution or participation on a written assignment through
google doc, which includes iFixit, will be recorded as a strike, based on the action policy plan.
A team member may be allowed one excused absence of a scheduled in-person meeting, so long
as they notify Project Manager 24 hours in advance.

Action Policy Plan

The following steps will take place if a member has failed to comply with the groups
expectations after a three-strike warning policy:
1. Notice of recorded three-strikes will be discussed with Dr. Bruce
2. Notice of recorded additional strike will be discussed with Dr. Bruce
3. Team member will be removed from iFixit Group 2
Note: Due to the seriousness of the event, plagiarism will be deemed as a three-strike
act, and Dr. Bruce must be notified
