Letter To Families
Dear Families,
My name is Joanne Cudmore and I will be working alongside Mrs. Cowan as her student
teacher this school year. I am in my fifth and final year at Vancouver Island University,
completing my Bachelor of Education degree. I am looking forward to this learning opportunity
and to working in your childs grade 2 classroom.
I moved to Duncan from Victoria nine years ago with my husband and two children. In
this time I have been actively involved in my childrens education as a member of the school
Parent Advisory Committee and classroom volunteer. It was my time in the schools that
introduced me to a love of working with children. Being able to witness their Ah-ha moments
is what sparked the passion I have for teaching. As well as being a student and parent, I also
volunteer as a Girl Guide leader with the 1st Cowichan Guides. I have been in this role for three
years and I really enjoy working with three other dedicated women enriching the lives of girls
aged 9-11 years old. I have a love for art and creativity and hope to bring some of that to the
classroom for your child to experience.
I will be working with the students in various capacities in the classroom, including small
groups, individually, and as a whole class, in all subject areas. Throughout the school year I will
be gradually increasing my role and responsibilities from student to teacher and will be
concluding my term with a six week practicum in April and May 2018. Upon completion of this
school year, it is my goal to obtain a teacher position within School District 79, the Cowichan
Valley.
I am excited to get to know your child and work with them this school year. I also look
forward to having the opportunity to meet you. If you have any questions feel free to contact
me via email at: [email protected].
Sincerely,
Joanne Cudmore
