briefly about the function of each pin.

(b) Write an ALP to count the number of 1s in a given 16 bit binary string.

3 (a) Draw the internal architecture of 8255 and explain about each block.
(b) Discuss about mode 0 operation of 8255 with relevant configuration diagrams.

4 (a) Interface 4K x 8 EPROM and 4K x 8 RAM to 8086 microprocessor using


74138 decoder.
(b) Discuss about initialization command words (ICW) of 8259.

5 (a) Explain digital data transmission using modem and standard phone lines.
(b) Discuss the basic features of microprocessor development systems.

6 Draw and discuss the internal architecture of 8051.

7 Draw and discuss the formats and bit definitions of the following special
function registers in 8051 microcontroller.
(a) IP.
(b) TMOD.
(c) PCON.
(d) PSW.

8 (a) Draw the pin diagram of 74LS573 latch and explain how you can demultiplex
the address and data bus using this latch.
(b) What is the reason for the bounces in a key? Explain the key debouncing
using hardware and software.
