ASSOCIATE DEAN OF NURSING 2014- present
Assists Dean of Nursing with the overall daily operation of the nursing
programs of the College of Nursing. Supervises 20+ full-time faculty and
~20 adjunct faculty. Responsible for ~ 500 students. Leads Nursing
Operations Committee. Leads faculty search committee in hiring and
onboarding process. Led onboarding and orientation of 20 new full-time
faculty and 18 new adjunct faculty. In the pre-licensure BSN track,
maintained 96% NCLEX pass rate for 6 years (2010-2017), 94% retention
rate, and 100% employment rate. In the post-licensure RN-BSN track,
participated in new RN-BSN curriculum development and
implementation (Fall 2014), increased admission over 300% (2013-2014),
maintained retention rate above 90%, and supported faculty development
in distance education. Chaired the Nurses for Good grants committee and
provides leadership for the BSHSI Academic Practice Partnership.
Selected as a Leadership for Academic Nursing Programs (LANP) fellow
with American Association of Colleges of Nursing (2014).

CURRICULUM CONSULTANT 2015


Facilitated the work of faculty to create a proposed new undergraduate
curriculum at Washington State University.

INTERIM DEAN OF NURSING 2013


In collaboration with the Acting Dean of Nursing/Provost, responsible for
the management of the nursing program. Managed 3 curriculum
coordinators, 19 full-time faculty, and 6 adjunct faculty. Responsible for
400+ students. Maintained 100% NCLEX pass rate and 92% retention
rate. Led a subcommittee of faculty to develop a strategic plan for the
nursing program. Facilitated the analysis of nursing curricula in relation
to the AACN BSN Essentials, VBON regulations, and unique program
outcomes. Led the development of course schedule for maximum
capacity of the pre-licensure nursing program. Prepared for VBON
approval visit and CCNE accreditation report due Fall, 2014.
Collaborated on technology plan to create the appropriate infrastructure
and process to support distance education growth. Supported the growth
of the RN-BSN program track. Participated in Bon Secours system work
to include Bon Secours Virginia CNE Council, Bon Secours Academic
Practice Partnership meetings, and chair of the Nurses for Good grants
committee.

BSN COORDINATOR 2012-2013


Responsible for the coordination of the traditional, pre-licensure nursing
program track that includes 350+ students. First graduating class had
100% first time NCLEX pass rate. Developed and implemented an Excel
program that assists with tracking nursing student progression in the
program. In collaboration with the Office of Student Success, developed
and implemented Curriculum Revision policy and procedure. Developed
and implemented Excel spreadsheets for course planning and faculty
workload calculation for the Deans Administrative Team. In
collaboration with RN-BSN coordinator, created the 2013-2104 faculty
handbook. Assisted with the development of revised clinical contracts to
meet accreditation standards. In collaboration with the Acting Dean of
Nursing and RN-BSN coordinator, revised nursing policies to reflect BSN
program practices and standards. Collaborated with Student Services,
Nursing Administration, and College Administration to develop academic
timeline. Day to day management of BSN courses, faculty concerns, and
student issues.

ADULT NURSING COORDINATOR 2011-2012


Led the development, implementation, and coordination the courses listed
below. This work included an exhaustive assessment of the Bon Secours
Mission and Values, NCLEX Blueprint, AACN BSN Essentials, VBON
Regulations, and ANA Scope of Practice for inclusion/exclusion criteria
in the courses. Intentional development of threads in courses to repeat
critical concepts. Evaluation methods were developed and critically
reviewed by the Adult Nursing faculty. Created centralized calendar for
Adult Nursing courses to plan the students schedule. Obtained and
coordinated clinical sites for clinical courses, as well as, creating clinical
schedules for NUR 3104, NUR 3111P, and NUR 3112P. Led the
development of 8 patient SBAR simulation. Collaborated with course
faculty to develop and implement simulation in clinical courses.
Collaborated with faculty in the development of clinical assignments in
NUR 3111P and NUR 3112P. Managed 11 faculty members.

Coordinates the implementation and evaluation of the nursing curricula in
collaboration with the Dean and program faculty. Provides and monitors
the effectiveness of orientation programs for new and adjunct faculty.
Provides daily operational leadership to program faculty and conducts
performance appraisals in collaboration with the Dean. Creates
course/clinical schedule and faculty workload assignments with approval
from the Dean. Serves as liaison with nursing leadership of clinical sites
and monitors the efficacy of the sites in relationship to the curriculum.
Works in conjunction with Curriculum Committee and program faculty to
ensure that the needs for curriculum requirements, outcomes, and
resources are met. Uses data to monitor curriculum outcomes as it relates
to overall student learning and program outcomes and leads change for
performance improvement in collaboration with the Curriculum
Committee. Promotes and maintains effective working relationships with
cooperating agencies and other programs in nursing. Provides
recommendations regarding resources for the nursing programs in
collaboration with program faculty and assists Dean with annual budget
preparation. Monitors compliance with state approval requirements and
national program accreditation standards and writes required reports as
assigned by Dean. Maintains currency of knowledge in nursing education
through attendance at state, regional, and national meetings of nursing
educators and administrators. Assumes responsibility for nursing

CURRICULUM CONSULTANT 2015

Provided facilitation of developing a new curriculum plan with a small
team of faculty. Completed a pre-assessment of the curriculum prior to
the site visit and shared with stakeholders. Utilizing the Appreciative
Inquiry model facilitated a small group of faculty through the Discover,
Dream, and Design phases. Faculty discovered what was great about the
current curriculum, were provided opportunity to dream about all of the
potentials of the new curriculum, and then design a new curriculum plan
(courses, course sequencing, pre-req/co-reqs).
