An organization A has 10 project at a time and another similar organization B has no

project. What A will gain?

Answer

Project is a unique activity which is initiated by a group of people which is created by an

organization which has a specific goal and purpose. Projects are created for short term as well
as long term but for a certain period of time. Projects are result oriented. It seeks the
realization of a unique and innovative deliverable, such as a product, a service, a process, or in
some cases, a scientific research. It is bound by the triple constraints that are calendar, costs
and norms of quality, each of which can be determined and measured objectively. Each project
produces some level of formal documentation and some impacts, which can be positive and/or
negative.

As organization A has 10 projects and another similar organization B has no projects we can
find various advantages that organization A will have over B. In this case organization A will
experience following gains:

Transparency and Effective Communication: We can find transparency as the organizational

structure is flexible. This also enables faster decision making as the members directly report to
the project manager. It also promotes effective communication as there are shorter line
structure inside the team. In this organization we also find sound communication as well as
instantaneous cooperation.

Diversified Knowledge and Increased Creativity: As the project members come from different
department while a project is running diversified knowledge is together. People from all
departments such as marketing, finance, human resource, research and development come out
of their comfort zone and work along with other team mates. Hence organization A will
benefit diversified interest through projects. As different specialist meet and work together,
creativity of the team member increases due to interaction and continuous work.

Team Work: In organization A we can clearly see team work as the work is only possible if the
team works as a one only and in addition to this different people with various innovative ideas
come together to solve one common problem.

Revenue: As organization A has 10 projects and these projects leads to increase in revenue.
Organization which has projects will be generating revenue till the time project is running for.
With the help of diversified team the organization benefits as they generate maximum revenue
with restricted resources.
Competitive advantage: The organization which has various projects have a competitive
advantage over its competitors as the projects have specific and innovative activities which will
provide a concrete result which will help to change or find solution to various problems. Hence
in this case organization A will have a competitive advantage over organization B.

Vehicle of change Management: In this changing and dynamic environment only those
company survive who thrive for change. During projects innovative ideas are created which
tend to solve major problems. People from different background and department work
together in the projects which leads to changes.
Flexibility: The structure would be flexible and dynamic as if there werent any difference in
structure organization and project would not be two different things. While projects are carried
there isnt a boss hence everyone work together with project manager guiding the overall work.
As there isnt any boss decisions are made quickly which makes the activity efficient as well as
effective.
From this we can clearly analyze that company A will have various kinds of benefits and gains
which includes revenue, flexibility, vehicle of change management, etc. Hence, any company
which has included various projects will have a competitive advantage against those which fail
to include projects.
