Play-a-Long:
Add some instruments. Half the children dance and the other half play along on instru-
ments. Choose a different instrument for each animal; the children with that instru-
ment play for the corresponding verse. E.g. Elephant - drum, crocodile - claves, etc.
Line Dance:
Form two lines facing each other with enough room between the lines for children to
dance down the middle.
The groups sings to the head couple I looked out my window and what did I see?
The head couple responds by singing a reply an elephant dancing to the beat,
choosing whichever animal they would like.
While the group sings the rest of the song the head couple dances down the middle
of the line in the style of the animal they chose. Children in the lines clap and step
from side to side.
Everyone takes one step up and the head couple join the lines at the bottom end.
Tuned Percussion:
Add a walking bordun: choose a child to play along on an xylophone, alternating notes
C and G on the beat. .
