Addendum to Method statement for installation of plumbing

system (Submittal No. 02000-044)

1. Hydrostatic Pressure Test of Water services piping

Water services piping shall be subject to a hydrostatic pressure test in three
sections
1. Riser piping Three floors at a time
2. Main line and drops installed in corridors and flats Floor by floor

Procedure
a. Ensure that all the supports are in place and well tightened before
pressurizing the line
b. Blank off or remove all elements such as traps, instruments,
automatic valves, diaphragm valve, relief valves, pumps or any other
equipment which may be damaged by test pressure. Open, but do not
back seat, all valves.
c. Fill the system with water and vent the system at high points to
remove air. Maintain the required test pressure (100psi) for a
sufficient length of time to enable complete inspection to be made of
all joints and connections and for a minimum of two hours
d. Repair leaks & defects using new materials & retest piping or
portion thereof until satisfactory results are obtained
e. After tests have been completed, drain the system. Clean all
strainers, valves and fittings (if any) of all dirt, fillings and debris.

Leak test of Drainage Pipe work

1. Drainage piping shall be subject to a leak test with all drains
connected to riser floor by floor
2. UPVC Drainage Lines (8/200mm) coming directly from 32nd floor
to 1st floor, shall be air tested

Procedure
1. Leak Test
All Drainage and sewerage pipes shall be subjected to an internal pressure
test of 1.2 m head of water above the crown of the pipe at the high end but
not more than 6 m at the low end, Inspection and tests shall be made during
the installation, floor by floor and as the work proceeds, to ensure the
pipework is properly secured and clear of obstructing debris and
superfluous matter
2. Air Test
Close opening in the drainage piping system & pressurize with air to not
less than 100mm w.g. Air pressure level must not drop below 75mm w.g.
for a period of 5 minutes before inspection starts through to the completion
of inspection. Inspect all joints for leaks.

system (Submittal No. 02000-055)

1. Light Test on Duct Work

Duct works in risers and technical floors shall be random light tested floor
wise and ducts for individual FCUs, fresh air ducts and exhaust air ducts
shall be tested separately

Procedure:
a. Assemble and install the ductwork as per drawing. Insulate the
ductwork leaving joints.
b. Insert the light source in to the ductwork and close all opening. (The test
will be performed in night or late evening)
c. Check for any light rays penetrating through the duct work
d. If found any, sealant shall be applied to that leak immediately.
e. After confirming that there are no more leaks instruct the duct
supervisor to insulate the joints.

2. Chilled Water Pipe work

Chilled Water system piping shall be subject to a hydrostatic pressure test in
two sections
i. Riser piping :- Five to Six floors at a time
ii. Branch lines :- Floor by floor

Procedure
a. Ensure that all the supports are in place and well tightened before
pressurizing the line
b. All joints (welds, thread or grooved to be left), un-insulated &
exposed for examination during test.
c. Provide temporary restraints for expansion joints that cannot sustain
reactions due to test pressure. If temporary restraints are impractical,
isolate expansion joints from testing.
d. Flush system with water, clean strainers.
e. Isolate equipment that is not subjected to test pressure from piping.
If a valve is used to isolate equipment, its closure shall be capable of
sealing against test pressure without damage to valve. Flanged joints
where blinds are inserted to isolate equipment need not be tested.
f. Examine system to see that equipment & parts that cannot withstand
test pressures are properly isolated. Examine test equipment to
ensure that it is tight & that low-pressure filling lines are
disconnected.
g. Fill the system with water from lower end of pipe work and vent the
system at high points to remove trapped air (use drains installed at
low points for complete removal of liquid.)
h. Subject piping system to hydroststic test pressure as required by the
specification (1.5 times design pressure). Test pressure shall not
exceed maximum pressure for any vessel, pump, valve, or other
component in the system under test.
i. After hydrostatic test pressure has been applied for at least 10
minutes, examine piping, joints, & connections for leakage.
Eliminate leaks by tightening, repairing, or replacing components as
appropriate & repeat hydrostatic test until there are no leaks.
j. Pipe work under pressure has to withstand test pressure without any
leaks for a period of at least 12 hours.
k. Test reports shall be submitted to the engineer

After tests have been completed, drain the system. Clean all strainers, valves and
fittings (if any) of all dirt, fillings and debris
