This manual describes how to install the EPSON Advanced Printer Driver (Windows printer driver, StatusAPI for
EPSON TM/BA/EU printers) Ver.3.01 or later. See the reference manuals below for details of the printer drivers,
StatusAPI, supported printers, and other information.
2. Features
The EPSON Advanced Printer Driver Ver. 3.xx has the following features.
Silent installation: etc.) in which this driver has been already installed in another
PC without using the GUI. (See 9.Silent Installation.)
3. Operating Environment
This driver operation has been verified using the following operating systems.

Installation Manual D
2 1
When using the driver with Microsoft Windows XP Embedded, the following components are required.
Communications Port (If the PC has no serial or parallel port, one of them must be installed manually.)
3.2. Computer
This software supports computers on which the above operating systems run.
AT Compatible Computers
When installing Version 2.09 or later and Version 3.01 or later into one PC, be sure to install Version 2.xx first. If
Version 3.01 or later is already installed, Version 2.xx cannot be installed. In this case, the installation of Version
2.xx will end without any messages appearing.

When uninstalling, uninstall Version 3.01 or later first.
Version 2.xx and Version 3.01 of the TM-T88III Receipt cannot be installed on the same PC at the same time. In
this case, use only Version 3.01.
Version 2.08 or earlier and Version 3.01 or later cannot be installed on one PC at the same time. If you need to use
both versions, follow the steps below to update the driver Version 2.08 or earlier to Version 2.10c and then install
Version 3.01 or later.
Uninstall EPSON Advanced Printer Driver Version 2.08 or earlier and reboot the PC.
Install EPSON Advanced Printer Driver Version 2.10c and reboot the PC.
Install EPSON Advanced Printer Driver Version 3.01 or later and reboot the PC.
Specify which version, V2.09 or later or V3.01 to be used with the printer. If a selection is not correct, uninstall the
driver and execute the installation again.
When using a USB, be sure not to turn the printer on until the installation of all the drivers that will be used at the
same time is completed.
EPSON Advanced Printer Driver for BA/EU cannot be used with old versions (Ver1.08a or earlier.)
EPSON Advanced Printer Driver for BA/EU latest version: Version 1.08a uses the same module that the EPSON
Advanced Printer Driver Version 2.08 for TM uses.
5. EPSON Port
The EPSON Advanced Printer Driver uses the exclusive EPSON Printer Port. This section describes the EPSON
Port before the installation.
The driver creates Printer Ports ESDPRTxxx (xxx:001-999) that do not vary depending on the physical interface
and to which a concrete physical port is assigned. On installation, the created printer ports are allocated
automatically to the available printer port names.
For example, an RS-232C can be specified to port ESDPRT001, a parallel to ESDPRT002, an Ethernet to
ESDPRT003, the TM-H6000II with a USB to ESDPRT004, and aTM-T88III with a USB to ESDPRT004. It is
possible to print by specifying the ESDPRTxxx port to be used from the Printer Driver.

- To print at even higher speed with the parallel interface, set the parallel port to the ECP mode in the BIOS settings
of your computer. However, with some computers, setting the parallel operation mode to ECP may result in
incorrect printing. In such cases, reset the ECP mode.
- When using serial interface for connection, stop bit [1.5] of the printer port settings cannot be used. Data bits other
than 8 cannot be used, either.

In some aspects, the print results with Ver.2.xxx compatible drivers are not exactly the same as those with the
Ver.2.xxx driver because a defect in the Ver.2.xxx driver has been rectified, and some other changes have been
made. See the printer driver reference manual for the difference in print results.
When installing more than one copy of the same printer driver, select the necessary printer driver and click [Copy]
(C). The following screen appears and you can specify the number of copies.
Specified printer driver names with (n) are added to the list. Perform settings using [Port Setting, other (P)].

If there has already been a printer with the same printer name, register the new printer by adding a number between
1 and 99 in parentheses after the printer name.
Example: EPSON TM-T90 Receipt(2)
After installing the driver, be sure to reboot the PC before making the settings. If the PC is not rebooted, the driver
might not work correctly.
If you change the interface for a port after it has been installed, delete the port using the Port tab of the Printer
Driver Property and then add the port again using the same tab.
For USB interfaces, basically the port is created or deleted automatically. (LPT/COM/Ether ports are not created
automatically; the user must assign them.) The basic rule for USB ports is that the numbers indicate the priority,
with number 1 as the highest.
When a printer with a USB-I/F (hereinafter referred to as a USB printer) is connected, it is assigned to the highest
priority number not yet used of ESDPRTxxx:.

Even if a USB printer is removed when the PC is operating, the port numbers (ESDPRTxxx:) are not changed.

Even if a USB printer is removed while the PC is operating, the port (ESDPRTxxx:) remains as it is. After that if

when the PC is restarted, the ESDPRT003: port is deleted.
After installing the driver, be sure to restart the PC before performing settings. Otherwise, the printer may not
operate normally.
Even in cases when printing must be discontinued for some reason, such as the printer power was turned off during
the printing process, no error message appears. If you need to display the error message, change the setting shown

check [Display Error Message].
