SUBJECT In-Situ Chemical Oxidation Injection Report
Former Exxon Station 72427 www.cardno.com

Ms. Sedlachek:

INTRODUCTION

At the request of ExxonMobil Environmental Services Company (EMES), on behalf of Exxon Mobil Corporation,
Cardno has prepared this report presenting the results of the targeted injection of an in-situ chemical oxidation
(ISCO) solution and post-injection groundwater monitoring and sampling at the subject site. The purpose of the
work is to remediate the central portion of the subject site, where historical analytical results indicated hydrocarbon
concentrations exceeding the MTCA Method A Cleanup Levels.

SITE DESCRIPTION

The site is currently occupied by an active gas station, service station building, and Starbucks with drive-thru. The
site location is shown on Plate 1. Locations of USTs, dispenser islands, groundwater monitoring wells, and other
select site features are shown on Plate 2.

TARGET INJECTION

The ISCO solution injected consisted of a PersulfOx solution. The ISCO solution was injected into wells MW10
and IJ1. Well construction details are shown on Table 1 and injection locations are shown on Plate 2. A diagram
depicting the layout of the injection trailer and the injection process is shown on Plate 3. The PersulfOx safety
data sheet is enclosed as Appendix A.

Pre-Field Activities

Prior to field activities, Cardno obtained an underground injection control (UIC) permit in order to perform the ISCO
injection in compliance with the Washington State Department of Ecology (Appendix B).

Chemical-Oxidation Injection

On March 29, 2017, Cardno personnel visited the subject site to perform ISCO injection activities. Water for the
injection event was transported to the site using Cardnos portable injection trailer. A total of twelve 55-pound bags
(660 pounds) of PersulfOx was injected into wells MW10 and IJ1. The trailer was connected to the wells via the
trailer manifold. The 660-pound solution was injected at a flow rate of approximately 4.8 gpm with a recorded
pressure of 4 psi at the wellhead for MW10 and a flow rate of approximately 6.0 gpm with a recorded pressure of
15 psi at the wellhead for IJ1.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Cardno recommends submitting a copy of this report to the Washington State Department of Ecology and that
groundwater at the subject site be monitored on a periodic basis to evaluate concentrations of hydrocarbon.

LIMITATIONS

For documents cited that were not generated by Cardno, the data taken from those documents is used as is and
is assumed to be accurate. Cardno does not guarantee the accuracy of this data and makes no warranties for the
referenced work performed nor the inferences or conclusions stated in these documents.

This report and the work performed have been undertaken in good faith, with due diligence and with the expertise,
experience, capability and specialized knowledge necessary to perform the work in a good and workmanlike
manner and within all accepted standards pertaining to providers of environmental services in Washington at the
time of investigation. No soil engineering or geotechnical references are implied or should be inferred. The
evaluation of the geologic conditions at the Site for this investigation is made from a limited number of data points.
Subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points.

Please contact Mr. Bobby Thompson, Cardno Project Manager for this site, at 206 510 5855, with any questions.

Sincerely,

Cristina Tillberry Bobby Thompson
