ROBO DRIVE
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
To build a Line Following robot using arduino and IR sensors which can move on a
black track and pass through hurdles which simulate real road conditions.
ARENA:
The arena will be of dimension 5mx4m.
The black track will be of width 5cm.
The arena for round -I does not contain any hurdle whereas the arena for
round -II will contain hurdles.
Hurdles such as speed breakers, bluetooth controlled car, railway gate and
boxes (obstacle) are all coloured white.
Fig: Arena(Round-I)
Round-1
Task:
The arena contains a simple black track of width 5 cm which may contain
curves of any angle less than 250 degree(like 30,60,90,120 degree etc).
The arena is a closed loop with same starting and ending points.Participants
can choose whichever direction they want to start with and are required to
reach the end point by completing the loop.
The points are calculated on the basis of time taken to complete the loop
and also based on the negative points acquired due to penalties.
The qualified participants will advance to the final round.
RULES:
Task:
Now a new arena is given which contains hurdles.
The hurdles may represent real world road conditions such as speed
breakers,railway gates,obstacles,cars etc.
The Participants are required to detect the hurdles which are coloured
white with the use of an Infra Red Sensor as they travel through the track.
The railway gate will be open for 8 seconds and close for another 8
seconds. The car(hurdle) will be bluetooth controlled and will move
perpendicular across the black track. The objects/obstacles in the track
block the path for the bot .And speed breakers are also present.
The bot is not supposed to dash with any of the hurdle;it should pass
through the gate when open, shouldn't dash the car, shouldn't dash the
obstacle and should go slow in the speed breaker failing which will result in
reduction of points.
After passing the hurdles the total points are calculated based on the total
time taken and the penalties which occurred.
The top three teams will go on to win prizes.
RULES:
The bot should be completely automatic; Serial Communication,Bluetooth
Communication, use of DPDTs and any type of switches are not allowed.
The bot must avoid displacing from the track/colliding with obstacles while
performing its present task. Such moves will lead to penalty.
The bot must not harm the arena in any way.
LEGO kits or its spare part or pre made mechanical parts are not allowed.
Score for the task is completely depends on the time taken to perform the
task.
Winner and Runner-ups are decided on the basis of total score.
BOT SPECIFICATIONS:
The robot must fit inside 25x20x10 cm when measured.
To detect the black track or the white hurdles IR sensors should be used
