Gate valves serve as efcient on-off valves with ow in either direction. In such a
design, a wedge slides cross a general passageway in order to control uid ow (like
a sliding gate - hence, the name). One of the most signicant characteristics of
this type of valves is its straight-through, unobstructed passageway when set in
15 7
the full open position. This is made possible by the wedge lifting entirely out
of the passageway. As a result, gate valves are characterized by a minimum of
4
turbulence and pressure drop in operation.
14
While gate valves are good for applications requiring these two factors, they
10 9
are not recommended for installations in which throttling would be a function.
They are designed for on/off service. 11

Body and Bonnet Seat Ring

Bodies and bonnets are high quality cast and afterwards precisely machi BLENDSTEEL gate valves and check valves feature a seal-welded seat ring that
directing the attention to prevent stress concentration. The bodies of gate offers a leakproof design as it eliminates the leakage path between the seat ring
valves consist of a straight through port that guarantees minimal turbulence and the body. This design is superior to threaded seats which and result in

tight sealing.
Stem
Valves in Class 300 rating and above feature a provision for a lantern
The stems of Blendsteel gate valves are forged from one piece and ACME ring arrangement for conditions that demand The lantern ring has a
threaded, then mechanized and nally provided with a smooth nishing in leakoff plug which allows connection for liquid or grease seal. The
order to minimize friction.
In gate valves, the union of stem and wedge shall be in T form, designed to
prevent the stem disengaging itself from the wedge while being in service.
This design includes a conical raised surface that presses the seat against the
bonnet backseat in the fully open position.
Flange Drilling and Facing finish
Body and Bonnet Gaskets The Standard range of BLENDSTEEL flanged valves in sizes and
spot-faced (or backfaced) to ASME B16.5 Raised Face (RF). Flanges in valves
of sizes larger than 24 (600mm) are drilled as per ASME B16.47 Series A
The design of the body-bonnet/gaskets varies depending on the (MSS SP 44) or Series B (API 605). Valves in ASME Class 600 be offered on

Class 300 and 600 valves consist of a circular spiral wound gasket.
Class 900 and above gate valves consist of a ring type joint.
In pressure seal designs the sealing is achieved through a gasket that
takes advantage of the internal pressure of the line. The material most
commonly used is high-purity graphite being located between the body
and the body retainer ring.

Flexible Wedge
All Blendsteel gate valves 3 and above valves feature a exible wedge
unless otherwise specied by the customer. The exible wedge shifts along the
body of the valve during opening and closing, being held in position by a guide
slot that minimizes the friction between body seat and wedge. This design
is especially suited to compensate slight thermal deformations produced
by the pipe or the valve itself safeguarding a better sealing between body and
wedge seats.

GATE, GLOBE & CHECK VALVES

GLOBE
VALVES
2 - 16 | Class 150 - Class 2500

All globe valves utilize the port closure concept of valves. By this it
meant that uid passes through a specic opening (rather than a general 19
passageway, as in the case of gate valves), and the uid is controlled by 38
means of a stem-mounted disc or inserted plug in that area.
18
Despite of lacking the straight through, unobstructed passageway of
the gate valve, these globe types are superior in two key aspects - 45
throttling and service-ability under frequent use. They are better 11
at the throttling function because they permit uid to exit uniformly
around the circumference of a seat, rather than slicing down to limit 21
passage through a nar-rowly restricted area. 9

While not a valve in the traditional sense, check valves serve an impor-
tant applicationnamely to prevent ow in one direction while 13
allowing it in the other. A check valve is self-actuated and designed to
prevent uid from owing back into the system (prevent reverse 50
28
ow). Real-life applications include preventing backow into an
40
injection line or into a pump. The uid ow opens the valve by 27
forcing a disk or ball in one direction. When the ow stops, the disk or 48 38
ball is seated and closes the valve. They can be installed in horizontal or
57
vertical upward ow piping.

Body and Cover

Bodies and covers are high quality cast and afterwards precisely machined, directing the
attention to prevent stress concentration. The design characteristic of check valves is
the unobstructed passageway, with a full-opening when required.
SALIENT FEATURES
Body and Cover Gasket The design of the body/cover gasket varies
depending on the class of the valve. Class 150 to 600 check valves consist of a
male-female connection with a graphite or spiral wound gasket. Class 900 and above
check valves consist of a ring type joint. In pressure seal designs the sealing is achieved
through a gasket that takes advantage of the internal pressure of the line. The material
most commonly used is high purity graphite being located between the body and the
body retainer ring.

BUTTERLY VALVES | INTRODUCTION

BUTTERFLY
VALVES
BLENDSTEEL triple offset buttery valve design and unique sealing elements provide Zero
leakage through non-rubbing 90-degree rotation across a wide range of pressure and temperature
conditions. On the basis of preserving primary radical eccentric and axial eccentric, the axis of
conical seal surface has been inclined with the center of valve ow path to form angle eccentric.

BLENDSTEEL tri-eccentric buttery valve is characterized by compact structure, effective

handle and long work life. It can be widely used in oil & Gas, chemical, petrochemical, power
station, metallurgy, textile, food, pharmaceuticals,...

2
1 1st eccentricity
The shaft is diverged from centerline of the sealing surface.

2 2nd eccentricity
The shaft is diverged from centerline of the pipeline and valve. These two
1 eccentricities are designated for friction reduction between the valve seat and
seal ring when opening and closing the valve.

3 3rd eccentricity
3
It makes the valve seat completely separated from the seal ring through the
geometric shape, during the whole process of opening and dosing the valve. The
special eccentric combination not only makes use of the cam effect, but also
Shaft centerline completely eliminates friction. It enables no friction between the valve seat and
Sealing surface centerline seal ring on the valve plate, to eliminate possible abrasion and leakage, in the

SALIENT FEATURES
Seal:
Disc 304 + Graphite XB450 / PTFE

The Triple offset buttery valves are designed with a metallic composite cone beveling. than
takes advantage of cam effect, thus valve seat could be released from seal ring through the whole
switching process and zero friction exists between valve seat and plate seal ring providing friction-
free stroking throughout the valve, extends valve life, ensures no over-travel of the disc, allows
for a lower torque for actuator to be tted and ensures bubble tight closure of the valve, result-
ing in zero-leakage performance.

The buttery plate seal ring is designed as multi layer seal ring. This seal compresses on a radial basis
and moves exibly and elastically. Optional sealing materials are suitable for different temperature
and medium.

Triple offset BLENDSTEEL valves are provided with three dimensional eccentric sealing
structures. The BLENDSTEEL valves are designed and manufactured with unique techniques
dedicated facilities for maximum machined accuracy. This ensures full cone match of sealing pair,
and eliminates the intervention and abrasion between sealing faces.

The product features small switching resistance, reliable sealing performance, reduced
sealing face abrasion and a vastly extended valve life. The alloy hard sealing, Allowing for
higher pressure and temperature applications whilst still providing bubble-tight shut off.The
BLENDSTEEL valves are tested according to procedures by API 598. The BLENDSTEEL
valve has the characteristic of essential re safety due the metal-to-metal sealing.
