The key takeaways are that the circulatory system transports blood throughout the body, providing oxygen and nutrients to cells and removing waste. It consists of the heart, blood vessels (arteries, veins, and capillaries), and blood.

The main components of the circulatory system are the heart, blood vessels (arteries, veins, and capillaries), lungs, and blood. The heart pumps blood through the vessels, while the lungs oxygenate the blood and the vessels transport blood to and from all parts of the body and lungs.

Blood flows through the heart in two loops - the pulmonary circulation and the systemic circulation. It is pumped from the heart through the arteries, then travels through smaller vessels called capillaries where nutrients and oxygen are exchanged, then returns to the heart through the veins.

The number of heart attacks peaks on Christmas Day, followed by December
26th and New years
Regular exercise is the most important key to heart health. And it is FREE
Celebrities whove had open heart surgery in recent years include: Bill Clinton,
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kuya Kim
B. Analysis

B.I Presentation/Discussion
1. Describe the organs of circulatory system as to location, position, structure and function
Heart is an organ that pumps blood throughout the body supplying oxygen
and nutrients to the tissues and removing carbon dioxide and other wastes

Artery and Vein - highway system that sends blood to and from body parts

Capillaries enable the exchange between water, oxygen, carbon dioxide,

and nutrients between blood and the surrounding tissues
- Connect artery and vein to create uninterrupted blood flow
throughout the body

2. Differentiate arteries and veins in terms of structural and functional characteristics.

Artery carries OXYGENATED blood AWAY from the HEART to the body

Vein carries oxygen-poor blood back from the body to the heart

3. Explain the function of blood

The students will watch an animated video presentation of the function of
the blood
FUNCTION OF BLOOD
1. Carries/Provides nutrients, oxygen and right concentration of
electrolytes to the cells
2. Carries waste away from the cell
3. Intracellular Communication

4. Trace the flow of blood

The students are given a Heart worksheet to trace the blood flow and learn
the names of important parts of heart
BLOOD FLOW
1. Oxygen poor blood travels through the INFERIOR or SUPERIOR
VENA CAVA (1st Road)
2. Deoxygenated blood enters the RIGHT ATRIUM (1st Room)
3. Blood passes through the TRICUSPID VALVE (1st Door)
4. Blood enters RIGHT VENTRICLE (2nd Room)
5. Blood moves through the PULMONARY VALVE (2nd Door) and enters
the Pulmonary Artery
6. Blood is carried to the LUNGS where blood loses Carbon dioxide
(CO2) and gains Oxygen (O2)
7. Oxygenated Blood enters Pulmonary Vein
8. Blood enters the LEFT ATRIUM (3rd Room)
9. Blood travels through the BICUSPID VALVE (3rd Door)
10. Blood enters the LEFT VENTRICLE (4th Room)
11. Blood moves through the AORTIC VALVE (4th door)
12. Blood travels through the AORTA and SYSTEMIC ARTERIES
13. Blood loses Oxygen (O2) and gains Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in the
systemic capillaries

5. Discuss how to keep the Circulatory system healthy

1. You control your heart through DIET, EXERCISE, and MANAGING STRESS
2. HAPPINESS helps lower your risk of heart disease
C. Abstraction

C.I Generalization

The Circulatory System is responsible for transporting materials throughout the entire body. It
transports nutrients, water, and oxygen to your billions of body cells and carries away wastes
such as carbon dioxide that body cells produce. The heart, the lungs, and the veins and arteries
(blood vessels) make up the circulatory system. Working together, they ensure that blood flows
through the whole network that makes up the human body. Without the circulatory system, the
body would not be able to maintain a stable internal environment such as proper
temperature and pH known as homeostasis. Your heart works hard for you nonstop for your
whole life. So show it some Tender Loving Care.

C.I I Application
Demonstration of how blood move through the heart and out of the body using HEART
MODEL
Encourage the student to trace the blood flow using the following materials:
Illustration of Circulatory system, pipette/syringe, 5 cups with red water and 5 cups
with blue water.

C.III Valuing
Video presentation about saving life to value its importance.
Asks the students about the importance of being a trained CPR provider
