III. Procedure
A. Activities
A.I Daily routine
Prayer
Checking of attendance
Establishing contract with the students
State your expectations to the students like avoid unnecessary noise,
maintaining proper behavior inside the class, encouraging classroom
participation using reward orientation.
A.II Motivation
Instruct students to perform Jumping Jack for 20 times
Ask the students to share what they feel after performing the Jumping Jack
Show pictures of famous loveteam and let the students realize the relationship between
the heart and the lungs.
State amazing facts about the heart
It beats 100,000 times a day and pumps 1.5 gallons of blood every minute
A womans heartbeat is faster than mans by almost 8 beats per minute
The number of heart attacks peaks on Christmas Day, followed by December
26th and New years
Regular exercise is the most important key to heart health. And it is FREE
Celebrities whove had open heart surgery in recent years include: Bill Clinton,
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kuya Kim
B. Analysis
B.I Presentation/Discussion
1. Describe the organs of circulatory system as to location, position, structure and function
Heart is an organ that pumps blood throughout the body supplying oxygen
and nutrients to the tissues and removing carbon dioxide and other wastes
Artery and Vein - highway system that sends blood to and from body parts
Vein carries oxygen-poor blood back from the body to the heart
C.I Generalization
The Circulatory System is responsible for transporting materials throughout the entire body. It
transports nutrients, water, and oxygen to your billions of body cells and carries away wastes
such as carbon dioxide that body cells produce. The heart, the lungs, and the veins and arteries
(blood vessels) make up the circulatory system. Working together, they ensure that blood flows
through the whole network that makes up the human body. Without the circulatory system, the
body would not be able to maintain a stable internal environment such as proper
temperature and pH known as homeostasis. Your heart works hard for you nonstop for your
whole life. So show it some Tender Loving Care.
C.I I Application
Demonstration of how blood move through the heart and out of the body using HEART
MODEL
Encourage the student to trace the blood flow using the following materials:
Illustration of Circulatory system, pipette/syringe, 5 cups with red water and 5 cups
with blue water.
C.III Valuing
Video presentation about saving life to value its importance.
Asks the students about the importance of being a trained CPR provider
4. Which type of blood vessels carries blood away from the heart?
a. Veins
b. Arteries
c. Capillaries
d. Arteries, veins, capillaries
5. Why is blood that flows from the lungs to the heart bright red?
a. Oxygen makes it red
b. Carbon dioxide makes it red
c. Gastric juices produce the red color of the blood
d. The lungs add a pigment to blood as it flows through them
6. What part of the blood carries oxygen to the cells and removes carbon dioxide from the
cells?
a. Plasma
b. Platelets
c. Red blood cells
d. White blood cells
7. What is the main job of the red blood cells in the blood?
a. To clot blood
b. To fight disease
c. To transport oxygen to the bodys cells and carry away carbon dioxide from the cells
d. To transport carbon dioxide to the bodys cells and carry away oxygen from the cells
8. What is the function of the blood vessel (artery and vein) and capillaries ?
a. They pump blood to the heart
b. They filter impurities from the blood
c. They carry blood to all parts of the body
d. They carry messages from the brain to the muscles
9. Why does blood turn dark red (blue) as it circulates through the body?
a. It starts to clot
b. It gets old and dirty flowing through the body
c. The oxygen in it is replaced with carbon dioxide
d. The farther blood is from the heart, the more dark red it is
10. What is the organ that pumps blood all throughout the human body?
a. The lungs
b. The heart
c. The kidneys
d. The blood vessels and capillaries
