Brag Sheet

1. What do you plan to study as a college major and why? What

experience do you have which will help you prepare for that major?
Although Im still undecided in what I want to major in, I am interested in studying
marine science due to the fact that I am fascinated with marine wildlife, mostly
whales and sealions, and dolphins, and sharks, and seahorses, and octopuses, and
the fact that 95% of the ocean has not been studied yet. I would also consider
studying psychology. I am taking AP Psychology and I really like it! It has helped me
understand many things that go on in my brain which I thought I was crazy before
but it seems to be a normal psychological reactions people get. However, I am more
interested in the arts. I love drawing, I would love to learn how to dance, or even
painting street art sounds fun. I could also learn many languages and be a
translator. As you can see, I am undecided about what I want to be. Those are just a
couple of things I am thinking of.

2. What course was the most challenging for you over the past three
years? How did you grow from this experience?
A challenging course Ive had the past three years has been math. I used to really
like it in 8th grade when I was taking Algebra. Then, geometry came along. Then,
pre-Calculus. And Calculus right now. It just doesnt make sense anymore. Although I
have the hardest time trying to understand this subject that I will not use ever, I try
to be positive about understanding it and I am working hard to pass the course.

3. Have you taken any additional classes outside of school that are not on
your transcript? If so, please list the class, school attended, and grades.
Ive taken English 47A and English 101. It was at SDHS however, it was a college
class. It was challenging but I passed!

4. Pick three original adjectives that you believe would best describe who
you are? Then explain why you selected them.
LOVING - I love everyone

Compassionate - I want to be remembered and make a change in the world, or our

society, or at least in someones life. My best friends life situation is something I am
very compassionate about. I have met a few other people whose lives are not that
great and I want to help. Even if its just by listening to them, or giving them advice.
It just sucks that great people go through not so great experiences.
Open minded - I like listening to other peoples opinions and taking them into
consideration. Looking at things from different perspectives helps me develop a
better perspective for myself.

5. What event or activity (positive or negative) has had the most significant
impact on you in your life and shaped you as a person? Why?
Watching my grandmother died had a huge impact in my life and the way I am now.
She was a mother to me and her loss made me appreciate every moment, person,
and animal that is in my life. I wish I couldve spent more time with her and I wish I
couldve told her that I loved her. Her death couldve been prevented. However, now
I know how important it is to take care of your health. I also try to live every moment
I spent with someone like if it was my last because it could be and I dont want to
wish I couldve done or said something.

6. Please share one leadership role you have held during high school and
describe how it has shaped who you are as a person.
I dont really consider myself a leader just yet. I want to be someone that can make
a change yet Im still missing a little confidence to achieve my goals. However, I will
someday, I am sure about that.

7. Please describe any academic or personal barriers and how you have
overcome them. How have they interfered with your academic performance?
One academic barrier that interfered with my academic performance was journalism
class. Before, my dream job was to become a journalist for The New York Times. I
went with my counselor and asked to be put in the schools journalism class. I was
expecting a great experience that could help me grow as a writer, however, the
teacher and I had our differences. I committed a mistake of not going to his class
due to him being very disrespectful towards me. He gave me an F however, I did
every assignment he would assigned. My mom came to talk to the principal and the
teacher gave me an opportunity to write a news story and he would change my
grade depending on how good it was. He gave me a D, which I personally believe I
did not deserve that grade because it was revised by two of my english teachers
and said to be good. However, life is not fair. My gpa dropped and I tried to not let
this bad experience change my perspective of being a journalist however, I have no
interest in that career anymore.
8. Is there any additional information you would like your colleges to know
about you that you will not be able to share in your application?
I would like colleges to know that when I propose myself to something I try my
hardest to make it possible. This summer I told myself I was going to join wrestling, I
kept repeating it in my head. I had no knowledge of this sport but I wasnt going to
quit. It is a very hard sport, as my coach says the hardest sport there is. I will not
quit though. It has been a painful experience but a great one that I will be successful
in.

9. **What would you want the admissions office to know that they could
not learn from your school records or application? Possible topics may include
greatest strengths, most unique characteristics, significant family events,
personal obstacles, and how you cope and overcome challenges.
I am the funniest girl eveeeeeeeeeeeeeer. I think one of my greatest strengths and
the way I overcome challenges is my optimism. Life is beautiful and sometimes its
hard but it gets better.
10. **Please explain any extenuating
circumstances/comments/additional information you would like to share (i.e.
extended absence due to illness, other school attended during high school,
learning disability, special talents, etc.)
I am the laziest person ever. I am trying hard to not let this become an obstacle but
it is a slow progress. I am hoping that with the discipline I am gaining from wrestling
I can overcome this terrible habit of mine.
