There were several queries received about Pradk and there is no one standard answer for them
really. Every Guru Sampradya has its own technicalities and peculiarities derived from different
prama granthas.

In most South-Indian lineages (obviously of Srvidy), Paraurma Kalpastra is the primary prama
but this work really does not get into the specifics in terms of which mantra is considered as conferring
pradk. In practice, Mahoa and Mahpduk are generally considered as constituting the
Prbhieka.

Things are slightly different in the case of Krama Dk where a lot more technicalities are discussed. This
does not mean that the Dkitya Sampradya of Srvidy is not a Krama system - even there one
progresses through different steps such as Mahgaapati, Bl, Shymal, Vrh, Pacada, Shoa,
Par etc. However, in the complex and syncretistic Krama system of the east, each step is greatly
delineated. In the case of Pradk, which is obtained for all three Mahvidys, is the starting point to
higher initiations.

The prama clearly states:

In the case of Tripurasundar, pradk is always accomplished through Shoa. When this is
unavailable, one will have to use Laghuoa (adhama paka) or Saubhgya oa (madhyama paka).
By this statement, it becomes evident that uttama paka is clearly Mahoa.

Elsewhere it is said:

|

||

Pradk is attained through:

(a) Rjarjevar (ada)

(b) Pacam
(c) Paroa
(d) Mahoa

In the case of Daki Kl, the pradk is always through Kmakal Kl of Uttarmnya:

That said, for every form of Kl, the final dk is indeed through Guhyakl who encompasses both
Uttara and rdhvmnyas:

||

Generally, the dk is obtained through Rmopsit and Bharatopsit forms, who is Daavaktr. Some
advanced and fearless upsakas also venture into shatavaktr Guhyakl but those are rare to find.

Again, there is no single standard answer here, one simply needs to follow the valid prama adopted by
ones lineage.
