Text Book: Introduction to Statistical Quality Control, by D. Montgomery, 6th (or 7th) Ed, Wiley, 2008 (2013).

References: Statistical Quality Control, by E. Grant and R. Leavenworth, 7th Edition, McGraw-Hill, 1996;
Applied Statistics and Probability for Engineers, by D. Montgomery and C. Runger, 4th Edition, Wiley, 2006.

Course Description: Introduction to advanced quality control and improvement concepts. Fundamentals of
statistical methods and theoretical basis for quality control methods. Advanced and newly developed quality
control and improvement methods such as modified and acceptance charts, multiple stream process control,
control charts with adaptive sampling and engineering process control for quality. International standards of
acceptance sampling. Economic design and implications of quality control and improvement procedures. A
project is required.

Learning Objectives: To provide the student with in-depth knowledge in developing effective quality control
and improvement methods and tools. To introduce advanced and practical quality control and improvement
methods as they are used in different application areas of manufacturing, services and other sectors. For student
to understand the importance of quality issues related to productivity and reducing production cost.
