Essential Question:
How does modifying and rethinking one of Monets works in 3D space
keep the original integrity of the piece intact.
Objectives:
1. Students will learn about Monet and the Impressionist art movement.
2. Students will practice techniques with scissors, glue, and paper.
3. Students will create their own water lily in 3D space.
Time Allotment:
2 consecutive classes of 40 minutes
Materials Needed:
Construction paper, scissors, glue, paper plates, oil pastels
Learning Expectations:
For students to work step by step to create their own water lilies
in the style of Monets impressionism.

Power Point- to introduce lesson
Format
I plan to switch between lecture and demonstration to teach the
students in a wide variety of ways. The students will be read a
story about the artist, learn about the artist and movement, and
complete the project step by step with the instructor.
Motivation/Hook:
I will read the students a childrens book about Monets works to
start the lesson. This will put the artists works in a familiar
context that will make it more approachable.

I will wrap up the lesson by reviewing the PowerPoint, restating
the projects objectives, and continuation of this project the
following week.

I will review the terms and techniques throughout class time and
as I introduce other lessons that have similar media.
g) Assessment:
Observation-Can the student use the elements of art/principals of
design to create an aesthetically pleasing design?

Differentiation
IEP: Provide a copy of the PowerPoint and monitor the students progress,
offering assistance if needed.
ESOL: Monitor student to ensure understanding and further explain the
material and demonstrate if necessary.
Different Rate of Learning:
Faster Students- I will entice them to slow down the process first and
when finished allow them to practice with drawing books.
Slower Students- I will provide extra assistance in the classroom and
give them extra time in following classes to finish.
