The key takeaways are that piping isometric drawings provide critical information for construction such as material types, welds, cuts and references to other drawings. Different types of drawings like P&IDs, AFCs, IFCs and shop drawings are used at different stages and contain varying levels of detail.

P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) drawings include piping systems, equipment, instruments and control signals. They provide basic information about the scope of work, contact points between different materials/pipes, and symbol explanations. They do not contain detailed construction information.

AFC (Approved for Construction) drawings are the official design drawings used at the start of construction. IFC (Issued for Construction) or shop drawings contain more detail for fabrication like cuts, welds and welding processes. They are used by fabricators for constructing spools and modules.

I. PREFACE.

In general engineering and the petroleum industry in particular is drawing the main tool for
the development of design ideas to actual construction. The drawing is the main base to
manufacture and install and test the simple to the more complex device clusters, so the
information from drawings provided are varied and plentiful. There is a no size but stature
most important (P & ID), there are drawings of size but not right ratio (isometric), with
drawings only show ground floor (Piping GA ), have detailed drawings to each section (Pipe
Support).

II. SCOPE OF LESSONS

The course content is limited to the monitoring, the piping engineer newly graduated should
remain many shortcomings. Therefore, this document can not be used for the process
engineer or related issues in the design and procurement.

1. P&ID

P & ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram: The drawing includes piping systems,
equipment, instrument and control signals (Get detailed instructions in other documents). P
& ID provides the basic information, but rather full of all kinds of devices, control panel,
explaining the symbols (applies to both isometric drawings), the scope of work (Onshore or
Offshore, or Piping Instrument ...), the location of contact between the two or two types of
materials on the same pipeline Class ...

2. ISOMETRIC.

These are drawings used to construction commencement include 2 types are drawing AFC
(aproved for Construction) and shop drawings also called IFC (Issue for construction).

AFC's drawings we received an official copy of the design to construction commencement.
This is the basis for comparison, check if during fabrication and installation has incurred
any problems. Some also pointed out the scope AFC work between departments to
facilitate the deployment of shop drawings
IFC drawings and shop drawings is called a deployment share more details about the cuts,
the welds and especially welding processes, the point Vent, Drain)

Examples of isometric drawings:

Ex : Piping isometric drawings

EX : Structure support for pipeline drawings
Ex: Pipeline spools drawings
- Some isometric drawings from petrochemical projects, SS7 ... etc.
Include isometric piping, pipeline isomectric, isometric structure for the pipeline.
- The information required on the shop drawings that the supervisors should master to
monitor the construction process.
A. The interface with the device location.
b. Fabricated material, including the type and quantity.
C. Supplies for installation also includes types and quantities.
d. Number of welds and welding processes
Hey. The number and length cut each piece.
f. The referenced drawings (GA, P & ID)
g. The requirements for NDT (PWHT, Percent RT, MPI, DPI ...)
H. Testing requirements (pressure, test methods ...)
Some key points to note with shop drawings:
- The coordinates of the Flange and sizing when connected to other devices or wrong often.
- The fitting symbol SpectacleBlind sometimes conflict with P & ID drawings. In this case
the installation must follow the P & ID
- The process of welding is not the details of each relationship for more than one type of
drawing supplies.

III. PIPING isometric GUIDEBOOK

1. The principle of the start of isometric drawings learn:

- Learn the symbols in the drawing from left to right and from top to bottom. Usually the
piping isometric drawings are notes like symbols, equipment and supplies needed
connections, the weld, and welding processes ... etc (so read and understood these items
usually do not difficult).

- Determine the right kind of drawing, drawing name, line drawings, and more importantly
check whether the construction drawings for the AFC or IFC or not or is drawing the NFC
(not for construction).

- In this content we will explore piping isometric drawings mainly, isometric structure also
will to in the next article.

- To identify the direction of the tube, we need to grasp the main direction of the drawing
(N) and the remaining directions S, E, W to compare the direction of the tube as well as the
rotation angle of the contraction (Eblow),

- Foreseeing high ... EL +, together with the symbol rotation angle, grasp the 4 basic
directions would look out the direction of the tube.

- Noting names drawings, material groups, the size of materials used, the regulations
covering home insulation or thermal annealing is required in the drawing and in the welding
process.
- All material codes groups mentioned in the previous article, engineers, monitoring ... can
