Welcome to the Betsender guide

Let us introduce you to the Betsender a software for Betfair which


automates your staking plan calculations and bets placing.

First of all we would like to thank you for your interest in our software. We
hope you will have a good time and successful betting using Betsender. If after

INSTALLATION

Below you will find simple steps how to install the Betsender.

1. Download the Betsender installation file from our website:


http://www.betsender.com/betsender.exe .
2. Run the installation and follow instructions to install the software on your
computer.
3. After installation run Betsender icon that appeared on your desktop.

To run Betsender, make sure you have installed Microsoft .NET Framework
3.5.

Note: to get the software placing your bets at correct time you should set
your local timezone on Betfair. To do so, open Betfair->My Account->My Details-
>edit timezone. For example, if you are located in Germany the timezone must be
set to CET (Central Europe Time) GMT+2. For UK users in most cases it has been
already set correctly by Betfair and does not require any changes.

That's it! On the next page you will find information about Betsender's
settings.

UNINSTALL

You can remove Betsender from your computer running Uninstall from Start-
>Programs menu or from Windows Add/Remove Programs.

GETTING STARTED

In this section we will show few simple steps to start using Betsender straight
away. This is just a quick walkthrough. For all features explanation see next
sections Setting up the Betsender, Using the Betsender and Staking Plans.
You may also have a look at our Betsender Setup video tutorial.

Setup your Betfair login.

1. Run Betsender. Click 'Settings...' in the top menu. You will see the Settings
form shown below.

2. Enter your Betfair username and password under 'Betfair Account'. Leave
all other settings without change for now. Click OK.

Choose your selections.

In the main window you will see an empty table. It looks like on this picture:

First, select Market (a race). Left-click in 'none' cell. The Market Tree window
with all Betfair markets will appear:

Select one of the available markets. After race is selected, left-click in


Selection cell. Betsender will load selections from Betfair for the race in the drop-
down list:

Select a runner you want to bet from the list. Repeat this step clicking in
'none' cell in Market column to choose as many selection as you want:

Setup your staking plan.

From the drop-down list on the right (under 'Staking Plan') select your staking
plan. For simplicity we've selected 'Back Level Stakes' in our example:

Enter the staking plan settings under 'Staking Plan Information'. In our
example we need to enter only one parameter Stake, which we've set at 2.00.
Enter your betting Bank. We've set it at 1000.0.
If you want to test the bot betting with virtual money, change 'Real Money' to
'Simulation'.

Start your betting.

Now when you have your selections loaded into Betsender and your staking
plan is set up, you are ready to place your first bets. To allow Betsender do this for
you, click Start Betting button. You can stop betting at any time later clicking this
button again.
Your betting is started and Betsender will automatically place the bet on your
first selection in the list, 1 minute before the race off. Meanwhile you can watch the
prices in the Market View:

After the first race is finished, Betsender will go to the next one from the list
until the last race is reached. You will see your betting progress in the Selections
table. It will look similar to this picture:

SETTING UP THE BETSENDER

Run Betsender. Click 'Settings...' from the top menu. You will see the window
which is shown below:

There are four tabs:


1. Connection all your settings to connect to Betfair.
2. Settings general settings for Betsender; will be explained below.
3. Staking Plans here you can view and setup all settings for staking plans.
4. Misc miscellaneous settings, automatic updates.

Connection Tab.

1. Setup your Betfair account. You need to enter your Betfaur username and
password under 'Betfair Account' section. It's required to automatically
place your bets on Betfair and match your local time with events time.
Your login details are absolutely secure and used only to connect to Betfair.
2. Choose Refresh Interval. The refresh interval defines how often the market
view will update prices for an event. You can leave it as default 5 seconds.
Do not use intervals less than 1 or more than 10 seconds.
3. If you want to connect to Betfair through a proxy server you may enable
proxy settings. Otherwise you don't have to setup it and can leave it as is.

Settings tab

1. Enter the time when to place your bets. The time is defined as number of
seconds before a race start. By default it's 60 seconds (1 minute). This means
that Betsender waits until the 1 minute before the race off and only then
places your bet. So if a race starts at 14:00 your bet will be placed at 13:59.
2. 'Consequent betting'. If it's enabled, Betsender will bet one by one, placing
the next bet only after the previous race is finished and result is known. It's
useful when you are running a staking plan where the size of next bet
depends on previous results. Some staking plans which are designed to
recover your losses (like Progressive, Recovery or Back Pro plans) ignore this
option and always place only consequent bets to protect you from betting too
high stakes. If you are looking to use a level staking plan you should disable
this option since your bets are not linked to last results.
3. 'Apply fast results if possible'. This option works only in conjunction with
'Consequent betting' option and only for in play markets. If consequent
betting is disabled or market doesn't go in play it's ignored.
If this feature is enabled and the next race is about to begin, Betsender will
apply quick results based on the last inplay odds (the shortest odds is
winner). It will not wait for the final results to appear on Betfair and will go
ahead to the next race. Please, note that sometimes this option may give
wrong results, so we advice to use it only in Simulation mode.

If this feature is disabled, Betsender will always wait until your previous bet is
settled on Betfair, so it knows for sure how much you won or lost to proceed
with next bet. This is the way to go if your stakes highly depend on results of
previous races (like in Progressive staking plan). If you disable this option,
make sure that all your races have at least 15 minutes interval.
4. 'Reload markets based on last Find Markets search every day'. This option
will be useful if you want to run the bot on autopilot for many days, for
instance, on your VPS hosting. If you tick the box, Betsender will
automatically reload markets matching the criteria you have entered in the
Find Markets dialog. You can also specify a time of a day to do this (default is
midnight).
5. 'Autostart betting at same time'. Allows to automatically start betting right
after the bot loads races. It is useful if you want to run the bot on autopilot
for few days. The bot can reach your target profit (or other conditions) and
stop betting, continuing it automatically on the next day when new markets
are loaded. This function will work only if the betting was started manually
(by clicking 'Start Betting' button).
6. 'Automatically reset staking plan every new day'. This option will reset the
staking plan every day (at midnight), clearing all running parameters of the
plan (like loss, profit, if applicable).
7. 'Take BSP'. If enabled, the bot will place bets at BSP (Betfair starting price).
See the 'BSP betting' topic of this manual for details.
8. 'Allow small stakes (less than Betfair min bet)'. If this option is enabled, the
bot can place bets below Betfair minimum bet (2 pounds), as small as 1
penny. Beware that you might get warned by Betfair if you regularly place
small bets. Thus, you may consider to disable this option.
9. 'Reset Total Profit'. This button allows you to reset your total profit to zero.
Total profit is calculated as sum of all your winning and losing bets.
10.'Reset Today Profit'. This button clears your day profit.
11.'Stop betting at won bet/lost bet/profit/loss'. Here you can set up conditions
to automatically stop your betting. If you leave this as zero, betting keeps
going on until the last selection and won't be stopped. 'Stop betting at
won/lost bet' means a number of won or lost bets to hit in a day before
stopping. 'Stop betting at profit/loss' defines the maximum profit or loss per
day, then betting will be stopped. You can set these figures as % of the bank
by ticking the % boxes. These settings apply to all staking plans.
12.'Stop only after consequent losses'. If you tick this box the bot will stop
betting only after hitting the specified number of lost bets consequently.
13.'Action'. You can schedule to reset your staking plan and start over, shutdown
computer after the bot has stopped (for example, reaching a profit for the
day) or shutdown computer after the last race.

Staking Plans Tab.

The staking plans tab contains all your staking plans. Selecting a staking plan
you can view and change it's settings. On the above picture you can see Back
Dalembert plan selected with it's Stake and Limit settings on the right side. Other
staking plans have their own settings. For information about the all staking plan
settings see Staking Plans section of this guide.

Misc Tab.

1. 'Automatically check for new updates every day'. If this box is ticked,
Betsender will check for new versions every day on startup.
2. 'Check Now...' button allows you to force updates checking.
3. 'Cancel bet if requirements are not met at specified time'. Checks betting
conditions (e.g. min/max price) only once at specified Betting Time (default
60 seconds to official start) and cancels the bet if it can't be placed.
Otherwise keeps checking conditions until the market goes inplay or closes.
4. 'Strict stop loss'. If this option is enabled, your stake will be truncated if it's
liability plus running loss is higher than your 'Stop loss' limit. This way the bot
tries to never exceed 'Stop loss' limit.
5. 'Low bandwidth usage'. If you select this option, the bot will start reading the
market only prior placing the bet (2 x Betting time). This may help if you
have to pay for bandwidth usage.
6. 'Minimise to system tray'. Will put the application to the system tray when it's
minimised.
7. 'Void bet if no results available'. Allows to void (cancel) a bet that is already
placed if the race results are not known after a certain time since scheduled
start. This can be helpful when used along with 'Consequent betting' to avoid
the bot sticking when results are significantly delayed.

8. 'Use custom domain to access Betfair'. You may enter a custom domain to
replace default 'betfair.com'. It may be useful, for example, for Italian users
where betfair.com is blocked by government. In this case you can choose 'w-
sul.betfair.com' or some other domain as alternative. Most users don't need to
change this setting.

USING THE BETSENDER

After you have set up your settings, lets go through the features of Betsender.
We will start from the user interface. See the picture below. It illustrates the main
form of the program and its five main parts.

1. Top menu.
2. Selections view.

5. Conditions and betting information.

Top menu.

This menu contains few commands:


1. File->Save Profile. Saves all your selections (courses and horses), previous
bets information, staking plan settings to a file on your computer. This
allows to save and restore the state of Betsender.
2. File->Load Profile. Loads previously saved profile.
3. File->Clear Selections. Deletes all selections from the list.
4. File->Find Markets. Allows to search markets on Betfair specifying different
search parameters.

5. File->Instances. Allows to open Instance Manager and select an instance.


6. File->Logout and Exit. Signs you out from Betfair and closes the bot.
7. Tools->Export to CSV. Allows to export your selections to Excel compatible
file (CSV).
8. Tools->Export to TSM. Allows to export selections into TSM file format.
9. Tools->Import from CSV. Allows to load selections from CSV files.
10.Tools->Statistics. View staking plans statistics.
11.Tools->Download Tips. Opens a window where you can download bets
from tipsters.
12.Settings. Opens the Settings dialog.
13.Help->Help. Opens this guide.
14.Help->Register. Displays registration window, allowing you to enter license
key.
15. Help->Betsender website. Opens www.betsender.com in your web browser.
16.Help->Support. Opens support page in your web browser.
17.Help->Save log. Saves a log file containing bets and settings. Useful to
report bugs and other problems to Betsender team.

Selections view.

The selections view is a table which contains columns: market, selection,


stake, odds, race result, profit/loss. There are also 2 buttons:
1. 'Show' display a race in market view. Green button indicates which race
is currently shown.
2. 'Delete' deletes selection from the list.

The 'Result' column displays the race result. It's possible to change the result
during and after the race. If the race has started or finished but the program hasn't
settled the bet yet (hasn't 'decided' which result to assign) and you want to settle it
and go to the next race, you can set the result manually.
You can change results of previously played bets. Every time you change the
result, the P/L (profit/loss) for the bet and your Day Profit will be recalculated
accordingly to the new assigned result. Also when you are about to change the
result you will receive the confirmation request.

Market view.

The Betsender's market view is similar to Betfair's market form. It has the
same elements so we suppose you already know this.
'Matched Bets' simply a list where you can see all your matched bets that
has been placed by the bot stake, odds and selection.

Staking Plan.

See the picture below. 'Staking Plan' section allows you to select your current
staking plan, view and change it's settings, see your Bank and current bet, as well
as manage your betting.
On the picture the Back Dalembert plan is selected in the drop-down list.
Below the list under Staking Plan Information you can see all parameters of the
staking plan. In this example it's Stake, Limit and Multiplier (for explanation of
these parameters see Staking Plans section of this guide). You can modify Stake
and Limit settings, however Multiplier parameter is read-only and simply displays
the current state of the staking plan.

Staking plan

1. 'Start Betting' button enters the Betsender into betting mode. After you
have prepared all your selections and staking plan, you must click it to tell
Betsender that you want to start betting. You can always stop betting by
clicking this button again.
2. 'Bet Now' allows you to place a bet, not waiting until Betsender does it
automatically.
3. 'Bet' information about the current bet (the bet to be placed or already

placed on current race).


4. 'Bank' your current betting bank.
5. 'Simulation' this is drop-down list where you can select either 'Real
Money' or 'Simulation'. The first means betting with your real Betfair
funds, the second is for betting with virtual money to test your strategies.
Note that in Simulation mode you can bet only on markets which go In-
Play. All other markets will be ignored.
6. 'Staking Plan Information' section is specific to selected staking plan and
contains all it's settings.
7. 'Restart' button allows you to start your staking plan again, i.e. reset all
your current profits/losses, number of lost races and other ongoing
information which affects the staking plan. This button resets only selected
plan, all other plans stay without changes.
8. 'Help' button shows up a help window with information about current
staking plan.
9. 'Test' button displays a form that allows to run a series of random bets to
test your settings and see how the staking plan works.

Conditions and betting information.

Conditions allow you to bet only when selections satisfy your requirements.
Min and Max odds define the odds range for selected horse. Min and Max runners
sets the number of horses in the race. If odds or number of runners is our of
range, the bet will not be placed.

Username displays your Betfair username. Balance UK your current Betfair


balance in UK wallet. Today profit profit made over the day. Total profit profit
made over all your bets. You can reset Total and Day profit in the Settings form.

You can also set up the advanced conditions.


Advanced button opens a new window where you can specify additional
criteria for first 6 favourites. If you tick Relative check box, the price range is
assumed to be relative to the price of the runner you bet on. For example, on the
picture below the 2nd favourite price must be from 1.00 to 3.00 more than your
selection's price. i.e. if your selection's price is 2.25, the 2nd favourite price must
be between 3.25 and 5.25.

If Relative is not ticked, the odds are treated as absolute values.


Other examples:
1. Your are betting on 2nd favs or a named horse and you want 1st fav's
price to be at least 2.5 lower than your selection.
Set for 1st Favourite: Odds = -1000 to -2.50, Relative = Ticked.
2. You are betting on a named horse and want it's price to be lower than
3rd fav (i.e. yourselection must be 1st or 2nd fav).
Set for 3rd Favourite: Odds = 0.01 to 1000, Relative = Ticked.
3. You are betting on 1st favs and want 2nd fav's price to be 4.0 or higher.
Set for 2nd Favourite: Odds = 4.0 to 1000, Relative = Ticked.
4. You are betting on 1st Favs and want 2nd Fav's price to be between

3.00 and 6.00 and 3rd Fav's price between 5.00 and 7.00.
Set for 2nd Favourite: Odds = 3.00 to 6.00, Relative = Not Ticked.
Set for 3rd Favourite: Odds = 5.00 to 7.00, Relative = Not Ticed.

Beside favourite odds you can set 'Max odds spread' and 'Min matched
amount'.
'Max odds spread' is a maximum allowed difference between selection's Back
and Lay price. This difference is calculated in 'ticks'. Tick is an increment in Betfair
odds. For example, from 2.00 to 2.06 it is 3 ticks (1 tick = 0.02). From 3.00 to 3.20
it is 4 ticks (1 tick = 0.05). This parameter is useful if you don't want to bet when
there is a big spread in odds, which usually means that price will be changing when
more money come in. Can be used with greyhounds betting.
'Min matched amount' is a minimum amount of money required to be
matched in whole market before firing the bet. You may want to set this parameter
to ensure that market liquidity is enough.
'Market Rank' is a global setting which says that your selection (a named
horse) must be a certain favourite in the race. For example, if Market Rank is 2,
your selection must be 2nd favourite in the race. Otherwise the bot will not fire the
bet and it will be cancelled. If Market Rank is 0 (default) no favourite conditions are
applied. Note, you can set individual Market Rank for each bet (see Bet Conditions
section) which overrides the global option.
'Max back book %' and 'Min lay book %' allow to set back and lay book
percentage required to place the bet.

Key rules and features explained.

1. When Betsender fires a bet. Betsender places your bet N seconds before the
race off. 'N' is number of seconds which you can change in Settings form. Bet
is placed only if the odds and number of horses are withing your limits. If at N
seconds before the off the odds are out of range, Betsender waits to see if
odds change and drift into the range. Once this happens, Betsender fires your
bet.
Note that it does not bet In-Play, only before the off. Also, Betsender checks
the odds every 5 seconds so it may take few seconds before your bet is
placed.
2. If bet was not placed (Cancelled shows in Result column) you can point and
hold the cursor at Cancelled text to see a message explaining why no bet
was placed.

3. Price Range feature. There is a selection option which allows to bet the
shortest runner in a certain price range. It is available in the Find Markets
selections list and from the drop down list in the main table where you see
your selections. If this option is selected, the bot will bet on the runner which
has a shortest price within the specified price range. The bot takes this price
range from Min/Max odds under the 'Conditions' area on the main window.
4. Bank, Total profit and Today profit. These three parameters are global and
can't be saved with your profile (File->Save profile). Whatever profile you
load, they will not change.
5. Profiles. You can save and load profiles in the top menu. Profile is a file with
all your settings, including staking plans, selections, previous bets, limits. You
can have multiple profiles using them with different instances of the
Betsender.
6. Betting mode. To fire your bets, put the Betsender into the betting mode by
clicking 'Start Betting' button. When Betsender is in the betting mode, you
cannot modify your staking plan, limits, selections or any other settings. To
do a change, you must disable the betting mode by clicking 'Stop Button'
first.
7. Saving your betting history. Additionally to saving your profiles, you can save
your betting history in Excel, simply selecting rows from Betsender table and
copy-pasting them into Excel or whatever application you like.
8. Running multiple instances of Betsender. You can run multiple instances of
the Betsender using the same Betfair account. You can use different staking
plans. Also it's not a problem if you want to bet the same selections, say, you
may want to back a selection from one instance and lay it from another.

Read more information about how to use instances in the 'Instance Manager'
section of this guide. Make sure you are familiar with the Betsender before running
multiple instances.

FIND MARKETS WINDOW

One remarkable feature in the Betsender is the market search. It helps you
automatically pick markets and selections which meet your criteria. This feature is
implemented in the Find Markets form.
Find Markets window is available from the top menu (File->Find Markets
command).
Find Markets window has two tabs which are shown below.

Parameters tab.

First of all, you should specify what markets you want to find. You can do this
on the Parameters tab. You don't have to fill out all the fields, only those which are
important for you. On the picture above you can see default settings.
1. Markets to load. This is required field. You have to select a market category
here clicking on the drop-down menu. For example, your selection can be 'UK Races
Win' markets.

There are many sports categories that you can select in the drop-down menu.
However if you want to choose a category that is not in the list, click 'Other...'. This
will open Betfair market tree where you can select any category available on Betfair.
On the image above 'Soccer Fixtures 09 May' is selected. This means that
Betsender will look for markets only in the Soccer - Fixtures 09 May and in all sub-
categories. Remember that you have to select a category or sub-category, but not
specific market. To load certain type of markets (say, Match Odds) for selected
category you need to set up 'Text Search' part of the form (see below).
2. Min. and Max. Selections. Filters by number of selections in the market.
3. Selection. You can specify from 1st to 6th favourite. For instance, if you
select 2nd Fave, the picked selection always will be 2nd favourite, i.e. it will have
second lowest price.
Also, it's possible to select from 1st to 6th Selection. This means a runner
listed on Betfair at the position.
There is an option 'Price Range' which allows to bet the lowest priced runner
in a certain price range. The bot takes this price range from Min/Max odds under
the 'Conditions' area on the main window.
4. In-Play Markets Only. If this option is enabled, the bot will show only
markets which will go in-play.

Text Search.
Now, you can also look for a specific text which must or must not occur in the
market name, selection name, node name or branch name. Only markets and
selections which contain this text will be selected. For example, if you are betting
on football and want only matched with Chelsea and only 'Match Odds' markets,
you can enter 'match odds' in the 'In Tree Node' field and 'chelsea' in the 'In Market
Name' field.

Market Name and Selection Name are self-describing and easy to understand
things so I will not stop on this.
Node Name and Branch Name here is what you see in the Market Tree
window. Branches specify a category of markets like 'Fixtures 09 May', 'Horse
Racing Todays Card' or 'Everton vs Tottenham'. They all have child markets.
Nodes don't have child markets, like 'Match Odds', 'Next Goal' or, for horse racing,
'17:05 Aint'. Note that a node text and respective market name can be different,
therefore there are separate boxes for each of them.

If you are specifying a text, it means the text MUST occur in the name. If you
put '!' sign before a text, this means the text MUST NOT occur in the name. In
other words you can enter something like '!placed' in the field if you want 'placed'
text to not occur in names.
You can set multiple words that must or most not appear in the name,
separating them with comma. For example, !Nov,!Mdn,!Place tells the bot that ALL
these words must not appear in the name. Separating words by & tells that AT
LEAST ONE word must appear in the name. For example, Wolv&Newc&Leic will load
all races for Wolverhampton, Newcastle and Leicester.
Here are few examples which you can use.
Example 1. Markets to load = 'Horse Racing UK', In Market Name = 'Hcap'.
Will find all UK handicaps.
Example 2. Markets to load = 'Horse Racing UK', In Node Name = '!placed',
In Branch Name = '9th May'. Will find all UK horse racing markets except To be
Placed markets (win markets only).
Example 3. Markets to load = 'Soccer Fixtures 09 May', In Node Name =
'match odds'. Will find all Match Odds markets for all matches on 9th May.
Example 4. You can filter out all Irish horse racing meetings to leave only
England meetings by putting the following string into 'Node Name' box:
!Ballin,!Belle,!Clon,!Cork,!DownR,!DownP,!Dund,!Fairy,!Gal,!GowP,!Killar,!Kilb,!Layt,!
Leop,!Lim,!List,!Naas,!Navan,!Punch,!Rosc,!Shelb,!Sligo,!Curr,!Thurl,!Tipp,!Tral,!Tram,!Wex

Buttons 'Close', 'Set as default' and 'Search'.


To start the search, click Search button. To close the window click Close.
If you click 'Set at default' button, your search settings will be saved and will
appear when you open Find Market window next time.

Search Tab.

After the search is started, Betsender will look for available markets. You can
watch this process on the Search tab. This can take few minutes.

In the above example we are searching in 'Soccer Fixtures 09 May' for all
'Match Odds' markets. On the picture you can see that there are 195 markets have
been found to process, 62 markets already have been processed and all these 62
markets are belong to our specified parameters. At the moment when I took this
screenshot market 'Everton v Tottenham Match Odds' was processing by
Betsender.
In the list you can see all found pairs of markets and selections with their
date/time and odds.
You can halt the search anytime by clicking 'Stop' button.
After the search is completed you can add found markets and selections to
Betsender to bet on. Button 'Add Selected' will add all selected markets in the list.
And button 'Add All' will add all markets.
Then you can do another search and add another bulk of markets and
selections.
BSP BETTING 25 of 53

BSP BETTING

You can enable BSP betting in the Settings by ticking the 'Take BSP' check
box.
The bot will still wait for the specified time before race and check all
conditions, but the bet will be placed at Betfair starting price.
This option has certain limitations which will be explained here.

1. The Betsender cannot bet below the minimum Betfair stake size (2) at
BSP. If you enable 'Take BSP' option, the 'Small stakes' option will be automatically
disabled.
2. Bets will be placed at BSP only in appropriate markets which support BSP
betting. In all other markets bets will be placed at available odds (the same way as
if BSP option was disabled).
3. For Lay bets the bot uses liability instead of stakes. The liability will be
calculated from stake and CURRENT odds and placed at BSP. The actual stake will
be calculated by Betfair at time of market reconciliation when the ACTUAL BSP is
known. This means that the actual lay stake can be different from the stake you
wanted to place because of the difference in projected starting price at time of bet
placing and actual starting price at the off. Therefore we suggest to place lay bets
at BSP no longer than 1 minute before the off when live prices are closest to the
final BSP. This will ensure that the difference is minimised. Before the reconciliation
time the bot will display the liability instead of stake, for example, Liability=20. The
actual stake will appear after the off.
4. For Lay bets placed at BSP Betfair has a minimum liability limit which is
equal to 10. For Australian dollars it is $30. You should make sure that all your
LAY bets have a liability compatible with this limit. If it is below the limit, Betfair will
not accept the bet and it will be unmatched.
5. The bot will place BSP bets using your odds limits. So the bet will be
matched only if starting price is above the min. odds. Otherwise it will be lapsed.
Before reconciliation time the bot will show 'BSP' in price field. The bot will show
actual price when the bet is settled. If it was not matched at SP, Betsender will
display 'Unmatched' in price column of the main table.
6. Sometimes matched BSP bet's price can be slightly out of your Min/Max
limit. This happens because actual BSP price is available only after the market
reconciliation (i.e. when it goes inplay). Before this point the software knows only
"Projected BSP" price which very often is different from actual BSP. The bot fires its
bets before it knows actual BSP having only projected BSP to compare with your
Min/Max odds. On Betfair it is possible to set minimum odds for BACK BSP bets, but
not maximum (and vise versa for LAY bets). Therefore if actual BSP is less than
your minimum odds, the BACK bet will be unmatched, but if it is above your
maximum odds, it will be accepted. This works the same way as if you placed your
bets manually on the site. You can't guarantee Max odds, only compare projected
bsp to your limits and hope that it will stay in range.

EXPORT SELECTIONS

It's possible to export your selections and bets to Excel compatible files (.csv)
to share or analyse your strategies.
This can be done if you select 'Tools->Export...' from the top menu.
Betsender will ask where you want to save the file. Then the 'Export options'
window will appear:

The bot will export event date, market name, selection name. Also if you've
checked options in the above window, it will export bet info (bet type Back or Lay,
stake, odds, result and profit/loss), market id, selection id and exchange id (0 for
UK and 1 for Australian exchange).
You can specify 'CSV column separator'. It can be any sign, for example,
comma or semicolon. This sign will separate information in the file.

Exporting to TSM format.

It is possible to export bets in TSM format. TSM (The Staking Machine) is a


software which has many features to analyse betting strategies. Exporting your
bets to TSM format gives you ability to load them into the software.
The exporting function is available from 'Tools->Export to TSM' menu.
Note: the bot will export only those bets which were placed, because
exporting cancelled bets into TSM has no sense.

IMPORT SELECTIONS

You can import selections from CSV files which you can edit in Excel. Such
files must have event date/time, race name and runner name.
At the moment it's possible to import only greyhound races and horse races.
Select 'Tools->Import...' from the main menu. You will see 'Import Selections'
form:

You have an option to import bets from a file on your computer (Local file) or
CSV file located on a website (Web URL).
If you select Web URL, enter an address (e.g. http://mysite.com/bets.csv)
and click 'Download' button.
Data from selected CSV file will appear in the bottom part of the form in 'CSV'
table. Make sure that column headers are set correctly, i.e. 'Race Name' and
'Selection'. You can change headers by clicking on them.
'Horse racing' and 'Greyhound racing' tell the bot where to look for the races.

Leave both boxes checked if you want to import selections from greyhounds and
horse markets. If all of your selections are from horse racing though, it is better to
tick only 'Horse Racing' box to narrow down the search.
Races in your csv file should have either your local time or UTC (GMT + 0)
based time. For the last tick 'Times specified in UTC timezone' box.
If race times are not local time or UTC based, you can set a difference
between your local time and time in csv file in 'Correct time by' field. For example,
you leave in Germany (UTC+2) and race times in csv file are based on London time
(UTC+1). Then you should set 'Correct time by' at 1 to add one hour to all races in
the file.
You have an option to 'Import CSV file daily'. The bot will load bets from
specified file or URL at certain time every day. If you already loaded bets manually,
the bot will not load them automatically again the same day though.

Please, note that meeting names must be Betfair abbreviations instead of full
names. For example, Newm instead of Newmarket. If you import Australian races,
names should contain (AUS) at the end. For example, Rand (AUS). If you import
place markets, add (Place) to the race names, for example, Newm (Place), Ling
(Place). This helps the bot to match your race names and Betfair markets.

INSTANCE MANAGER

Instance manager gives you an easy way to create, delete and select
Betsender instances. You can think of instances as separate copies of the bot which
have their own settings, bank, Betfair account, etc. Instances are useful when you
want to run different strategies that require different settings. There can be
virtually unlimited number of Betsender instances.
By default when you install the bot you have only one instance called
'default'. It is used every time you start the bot.
You can see your current instance at the top bar on main screen:

If you need more instances you can add them in the Instance Manager.

To open Instance Manager select 'File->Instances->Manage Instances' menu:


You will see 'Instance Manager' window:

Here you can see your current instance, list of all instances and buttons to

manage instances.

Creating a new instance.


To create a new instance click 'Add New' button. You will see a popup window
asking you to enter the new instance name. You can choose any name you like, for
example, 'My greyhound system test'. The new instance will appear in the list. You
can add as many instances as you need:

Deleting instances.
You may want to delete some instances, for example if these strategies don't
work or if you added them by mistake. Select in the list an instance you want to
delete and click 'Delete' button.

Renaming instances.
You can also give new names to instances. To do this click 'Rename' and enter
a new name in popup window.

Remember to click 'OK' button to save your changes. 'Cancel' button erase all
changes made.

Selecting instances.
Now when you have added additional instances, you can open any one of
them. When you open an instance, the bot loads all settings and bets associated
with this instance. All settings of previously opened instance will be automatically
saved, so you don't have to worry about that.
How to open instance? Once instance is created, you can see it in the list
under 'File->Instances' menu:

The ticked instance is the one you are currently using. To open another
instance, select required one. The bot will load it's bets and settings that you can
change. Remember that when you switch, the bot will stop betting on
previously opened instance and your bets will not be placed!

Running multiple instances.


So how to run and fire bets from many instances simultaneously?
You have to start and keep running several copies of the bot using your
desktop shortcut.

1. Double click the Betsender's shortcut to start new copy.


2. Select an instance from the 'File->Instances' drop-down list.
3. The bot will load all bets and settings.
4. Run another copy of the bot and select different instances repeating
above steps.

In the end you will have multiple copies of Betsender running different
instances. You will be able to see all of them in your Windows task bar:

You can also create separate shortcuts on your desktop, one for each
instance. Using such shortcuts will save you time to start multiple instances in
future, because the bot will open required instance immediately from start, instead
of loading 'default' instance and requiring you to open desired instance after that.
To create a shortcut to an instance, copy and paste default Betsender's
shortcut on your desktop:

1. Right click default 'Betsender' shortcut and click 'Copy'.


2. Right click on an empty area of your desktop and click 'Parse'.
3. You will see the new appeared shortcut 'Betsender Copy'.
4. Right click the new 'Betsender copy' shortcut and click 'Properties' from the
menu.
5. In the appeared 'Properties' window add -i instance name in the end of
Target box (in my example it is Horses fibonacci):

You can also rename the new shortcut from 'Betsender Copy' to 'Horse
fibonacci', for example.
Repeat above steps to create as many shortcuts as you need.

Now every time you use these shortcuts to start multiple instances.
Note: creating shortcuts is not required step, but it will save your time in future.
You can still have only one default shortcut to start multiple copies of the bot, selecting
instances from File->Instances drop-down list.

Betsender records information about your betting experience with every


staking plan. This information is available from Tools->Statistics menu.
At the moment there are 7 figures available.
1. Max win size the maximum amount you won with one bet.
2. Max loss amount the maximum amount lost with one bet.
3. Longest win sequence the longest winning run.
4. Longest loss sequence the longest losing run.
5. Win count overall number of wins.
6. Loss count overall number of losses.
7. Total profit profit made with the staking plan.

You can also reset statistics with Reset for selected plan and Reset all
statistics buttons.

You can use Betsender to download tips and automatically place bets. A video
tutorial how to do this is available on our site.

On the above picture you can see the window which is accessible from Tools-
>Download Tips... menu.
We will explain it on example of The Bet Plan tipster.
1. Select a tipster from the top list.
2. Read a description displaying below the buttons. It might contain
instructions or advices of how to set up and use the system.
3. Enter your username in the box if required.
Note: for The Bet Plan system it should be you email address registered
with the tipster. Beside this it must match your Betfair registered email.
For this tipster the email is automatically obtained from Betfair and you
can't alter it.
4. Tick Download tips automatically check box if you want to load tips
every day at specific time. You can set the time in the next box.

Download tips now button will check for today's tips and if any will add
them into the bot.
Visit the tipster's website button will send you to the tipster's website so
that you could get more information.
Note that to download tips the timezone on Betfair MUST be set to match
your local timezone. For instance, if you live in Germany, your timezone must be
set to CET (Central European Time). To change your timezone go to Betfair,
MyAccount->My Profile->edit timezone.

You can set individual conditions for each bet. To do this, right-click on
selection column of the main table and open 'Bet conditions' window:

There are several parameters to set: 'Min Odds', 'Max Odds', 'Min Runners',
'Max Runners' and 'Must be favourite':

The bot uses both global and individual min/max odds to determine if the bet
must be fired. For example, if global min/max odds are 3.00 10.00 and individual
bet's min/max odds are 2.50 7.00, the sum odds range will be 3.00 7.00 and
the bet will be fired only if selection's odds are inside 3.00 7.00 range.
If you do not set global odds, then only individual min/max odds is applied.
The same is true for Min and Max Runners. You can set both global and per
bet limits.

'Must be favourite' tells the bot to fire the bet only if selection is a favourite.
You can specify favourite numbers from 1 to 6. This option is applied only when you
bet on a named horse.

EXCLUDE SELECTIONS

It is possible to exclude certain selections from betting. When a runner is


excluded, the bot ignores it selecting a Favourite or Price Range bet. 'Exclude
selections' dialog is shown on the following picture:

In the above example, we tell the bot to ignore two horses: Trustan Times
and Reve De Sivola.
The dialog window can be opened by right-clicking in the selection column:

1. We tell the bot to exclude horses B and C. Now if our bet is 2nd Fav, the
bot will fire the bet on Horse D, because it is 2nd favourite among horses A and D.
2. We exclude horse B and our bet is Price Range (3.00 10.00). The bot
must select the lowest priced horse in the specified price range. It would be horse B
if we did not exclude it from betting. Excluding horse B means that our bet is horse
C instead.

It is possible to cancel the bet if one of certain selections becomes a non


runner (for example, was withdrawn before the bet is placed). You can choose
which selections must run in the following dialog window:

If at least one of selected horses is withdrawn before the bet is placed, the
bot will not fire the bet.

Here you'll find instructions how to setup every particular staking plan. Also
explanation of staking plans is given.

A staking plan can be set up either on the Settings form or on the main form
in the 'Staking plan' section. To setup a staking plan, select it from the list. You will
see all available parameters:

In above example we've selected Back Progressive staking plan. It has two
editable parameters: 'Target Profit' and 'Loss Limit'. And two read-only parameters:
'Loss' and 'Loss Number'. To setup the staking plan, just enter desirable target
profit and loss limit. Read-only parameters are provided only for your information,
so you can see the staking plan progress.
Note: if you need to adjust read-only parameters for some reason, you can do
this in Settings window, on Staking Plans tab.
Here we will not show pictures for all staking plans. Rather we will just
describe staking plans and give explanation for all their parameters.

Back Level Stakes


Lay Level Stakes

These two plans are the same but the stake type. First is backing, second is
laying. The plan is very simple each time it bets a fixed amount which doesn't
depend on odds or previous results. It has just one parameter:
Stake amount of money to bet.

Lay Percentage

These plans bet each time a percentage of your bank. Two parameters here:
Percentage To Bet a percentage of your bank to bet;
No Decrease if enabled, do not decrease a stake, even if your bank is
getting smaller.

Back Fixed Profit

The plan aims go make a fixed amount of money every race. It's single
parameter Target Profit. The plan calculates a stake based on current odds to
win target amount of money. It also takes into account your Betfair commission so
after it's deducted from your winnings you get exactly your profit. If As Percentage
box is ticked, the Target Profit will be taken as percentage of your bank. Example of
calculations:
Target Profit = 10
Odds = 2.25
Stake = 10 / (2.25 1.00) = 8

Lay Fixed Liability

This plan is to keep constant your lay liability, whatever current price is. When
you lose money, you lose the same amount each time (your Liability). When you
win, your winnings depend on size of your stake. Example:
Liability = 10
Odds = 1.50
Stake = 10 / (1.50 1.00) = 20

Back Dalembert
Lay Dalembert

Similar plans, the difference only in the bet type back or lay. The plans
increase your stake on lose and decrease it back on win. You enter your Stake,
which means the base stake, actually. If your you lose, the stake increases by one
time, so next amount to bet will be 2 x Stake . If you lose it goes up again to 3 x
Stake and so on. It continues until you win, then it goes one point down, say, from
3x to 2x.
To avoid infinite stakes you can set your Limit. It's the upper border for your
stake Multiplier (2x, 3x, 4x...).

These plans aim to make Target Profit on every win and recover all previous
Loss. So stake is calculated to win Total Profit + Loss. You should keep your Target
Profit relatively small, around 1% of your bank, to make sure this plan will not bust
your bank after few consequent losses. Note that with this plan stakes grow very
fast. To avoid very large stakes you can set Loss Limit. This is the maximum
number of losses in the row. After this limit is exceeded, your losses will be reset to
zero and cycle starts again. You can see your current number of losses in Loss
Number indicator. After a win, all losses will be cleared. These plans include into a
stake your Betfair commission. Max Bet Liability helps to control your stakes and
keep them under a reasonable size. Even if there is big loss to recover, stakes will
not exceed this limit.

These staking plans allow you to set a custom sequence that you want to
follow if your bets lose.
It has three parameters:
Stake size of one point.
Sequence points that you want to bet if you lose.
Back After Win number of steps to go backward in sequence after a winning
bet. Set at 0 if you want to return to first number.
For example if your Stake is 10 and Sequence is 1,2,4,6,10 and all your bets
are losing, stakes will be 10,20,40,60,100.
If one of your bets wins, the staking plan goes back to the first stake or
certain number steps backward in the sequence (depending on your settings). For
example, if third bet wins and all other lose, stakes will be 10,20,40,10,20.
When you enter a sequence in the staking plan, separate the numbers by
comma.

These plans aim to double your stake every win. You can setup your Stake as
amount of money or As Percentage of your bank. After every win this plan doubles
your previous stake. On lose your stake amount is reset back to Stake. You can
setup Limit, the maximum multiplier for your stake. After the limit is exceeded,
stake amount is reset back to Stake.

Fibonacci plans are to bet a sequence of Fibonacci numbers multiplied by your


base Stake. It's similar to 1326 plan, but here we are using Multipliers: 1, 2, 3, 5,
8, 13, 21, 34. Every number is sum of previous two.
After a lose, the staking plan goes one number forward. After a win 2
numbers back. Also it's possible to enable Reset On Win to back to 1x after a win,
i.e. start the series again.

In these plans your stake depends on odds. Betsender bets specific


Percentage of your Stake, depending in which range current Odds lies. Look at the
picture:

The Stake is the maximun possible stake, which will be placed if odds is less
or equal to 2.00. If odds is between 2.00 and 2.20, then 90% of the Stake is
placed, i.e. 10 x 90% = 9. And so on. If odds is above 11.00, only 10% of Stake is
placed.
Also it's possible to specify amount to bet As Percentage. Then your Stake is
actually the percentage of your bank. For example if bank is 1000.0 and Stake is
10.00, then amount to bet will be 1000.0 x 10.00% = 100.0.

consequently to your Stake. The series is:

Every time you lose, the plan goes one step forward in the series. If you win,
the sequense starts again from first number.
So the lowest possible bet would be your Stake x 1 and the highest Stake x 7.

These plans are like Dalembert, but much more flexible in way that you
specify how to increase or decrease your stakes every win or lose.
In this picture you can see Win Step and Lose Step. Win step defines how to
change the Multiplier of your Stake after a win. In the example the Multiplier will be
decreased by 2 points after a win. Lose Step is similar. After a lose, Multiplier will be
increased by 1 point. You can specify positive and negative values in both win and
lose steps. The amount to bet is calculated as Stake x Multiplier.
To avoid very large multipliers, specify the Limit. It's the upper border for
Multiplier above which it will not increase.
You can also use fractional numbers for Win Step, Lose Step and Limit. Say, it
can be -0.2, 1 and 5.50

Back Pro

The plan was designed for those who want to make a fixed profit on every
race. This works so that after N races you will have N x Target Profit Per Race in
profit.
The stake for each bet is calculated from Current Target, Profit, Divisor and
current odds:
Stake = (Current Target Profit) / Divisor

Profit can be positive and negative (loss). It accumulates all your profits and
losses over one cycle. The cycle is finished when Profit is more than Current Target.
Then Profit is reset to zero.
Current Target is always equal to Target Profit Per Race multiplied by number
of races you played in this cycle. It is reset back to one point when new cycle
starts.
Divisor is here to lower your stake. If divisor is 3 and you hit a winner at odds
of 4.00, all your losses will be cleared and target profit will be reached.
There is also option to specify your target profit per race As Percentage of
your bank.

1326 plans are to bet a sequence of 4 bets, using 1x, 3x, 2x and 6x
Multiplier. You setup your Stake which will be multiplied by 1x, 3x, 2x and 6x after
consequent wins. If a lose accures, your bet is reset back to 1 x Stake. After you
win 6x, this sequence starts again from 1x. Note that in the Lay version, the
calculated value is also used as stake, not as liability.

Lay Labouchere

Labouchere staking plan is based on a series of numbers, like 1-2-3-4-5-6.


Every bet is product of your Initial Stake and sum of the numbers on the sides. Say,
if your Initial Stake is 2 and the series is 1-2-3-4-5-6, then your stake is:
Stake = 2 * (1 + 6) = 14
When you win, delete first and last numbers from the series. The new series
will be 2-3-4-5 in this case and the next stake will be:
Stake = 2 * (2 + 5) = 14
If you lose, add the sum of first and last numbers in the end of the series: 1-
2-3-4-5-6-7.
If you win enough times to delete all numbers, you start again with initial
series.
Example:
Initial Stake = 1

Also it's possible to use Reverse Labouchere plan. In reverse plan you add a
new number to the series when you win and delete two numbers when you lose.
You can also specify the Limit maximum multiplier which can be applied.
Use this to protect yourself from infinite increasing in bet sizes.

To define a series of numbers, specify the Lowest Unit and Highest Unit. For
example, if you want to have series 3-4-5-6-7, you need to set Lowest Unit to 3
and Highest Unit to 7.

The plan has 3 primary stages.
The stage one is when you constantly win. In this case you always bet your
Initial Stake. If you lose being on the first stage, you go to the stage two.
The stage two is to recover your loss. It's your first recovery cycle. To
calculate your stake, divide your loss by 4 and add your Initial Stake:
stake = (loss / 4) + InitialStake
Now you place this stake on your next four bets. If any of these bets, except
the 4 , loss, you go to the stage three. Otherwise, if you win all four bets or at
th

least first three, you back to the stage one.


The stage three is to recover your loss made on the previous stage. It's your
second recovery cycle. Your new stake is calculated as:
stake = (lossOnStage2 / 4) + InitialStake
You place this stake on your next four bets, the same as we did on the stage
two. If any of these bets lose, you back to the stage one straight away. If you have
4 winning bets you back to the stage one as well.

This plan used Kelly's Criteria to calculate the stake. To use it you should estimate a
chance that your selection will win. Let's name this estimation 'p'. Formula to
calculate the stake is:
f = ((b 1) * p (1 p)) / (b 1)
stake = bank * f / divisor
where 'b' is current decimal odds of your selection.
Divisor is used to divide the Kelly's stake to keep it under reasonable size.
Lay version of this staking plan has additional parameter 'As Liability'. If this
box is ticked, the bot uses final result of calculations as bet's liability instead of
stake.

Back Recovery
Lay Recovery

These plans were designed to produce a fixed profit over each bet and at the
same time to recover losses made from previous bets.
If you have unticked Safe Recovery box, in the end if you don't have a
running loss, your profit will be equal to Stake multiplied by number of bets you
placed (no matter how many of them won). It works so because every time you
lose, the plan adds one point for the next bet so if it wins you make profit for two
races.
If Safe Recovery box is ticked, the plan will run recovery without adding
Stake to the bet size. This way your end profit will be equal to stake multiplied by
number of winning bets which were placed out of recovery cycles.
Recovery is spread over specific Number Of Recovery Bets.

If you have lost 12 on first bet, it will recover this loss over next 3 bets, 4
at a bet. Thus if 3 bets win you will make back 12 plus 6 of your stakes. If your
bet loses the loss will be added to your Current Loss and spread over 3 bets again.
You can set Max Loss To Recover. If your current loss exceeds this figure the
bot will keep recovering (Max Loss To Recover) / (Number Of Recovery Bets)
amount per bet no matter how high your actual loss is. It can be useful to keep
your stakes under a reasonable limit. If you don't want to have a limit for your loss,
just set Max Loss To Recover at zero.

You can also tick Clear Loss If Above Maximum box. Then your current loss
will be reset to zero as soon as it reaches Max Loss To Recover amount.
Profit Per Run - works only if Safe Recovery is NOT enabled. Defines
maximum amount of profit that can be made after each subsequent bet. For
example, if Profit Per Run is set at $5 and you've already made $3, no matter how
many bets you lose, after the 1st winning bet your profit will be $5. After Profit Per
Run is made the bot starts counting Profit Per Run from 0 again. Set Profit Per Run
at 0 to disable this feature.

You can set up your base Stake and Multiplier. After every win the stake will
be set back to base. After a loss it will be recalculated by multiplier.

For example, if Stake = 1 and Multiplier = 2.5


Bet #1. Stake = 1 - LOSS
Bet #2. Stake = 1 x 2.5 = 2.5 - LOSS
Bet #3. Stake = 2.5 x 2.5 = 6.25 - WIN
Bet #4. Stake = 1 - WIN

You can also use Multiplier Limit to set upper limit after which the multiplier
will not increase.

Lay 1-4

Lay 1-4 plan is designed to increase your Stake after a winner and try to
recover the running loss after which the bet is reset back to the original size. The
bet is increasing up to Max Multiplier number (4 by default).
The coefficient of the increased bet is displayed in Multiplier field. The running
loss can be seen in Loss To Recover.

Back Bookies Bank

The staking plan is a simple recovery system. In parameters you can set
Bookies Bank and Percentage To Bet. Imagine that you are betting against a
bookie. Every time you lose, the bookies bank is growing. You always stake a % of
current bookies bank. Therefore if bookies bank is 200 and your percentage to bet
is 10% your stake will be 20. Have a look at the following series of bets.

In this example, starting bookies bank is 100 and percentage to bet is 10%.
First bet is 10 (10% of 100) and it losses. Bookies bank is growing by 10 and
now it is 110. The next stake is 11 (10% of 110). This one losses again
increasing bookies bank by 11. The next stake is 12.1 (10% of 121). After 3
losing bets the bookies bank is 133.1 and we stake 13.31 in 4th bet that wins
59.93. This amount is deducted from bookies bank. Now bookies bank is less than
we started with (100) and we take 10% of 100 on the next stake.

Lay Maria

The stake depends on three odds range. You can specify odds range and
percentage of the bank to lay in Odds and Percentage columns of the table.

By default it's:
If odds below 3.50, lay 1% of the bank.
If odds from 3.60 to 7.40, lay 0.6% of the bank.
If odds from 7.50 to 11, lay 0.4% of the bank.
All odds above 11 are ignored.
Every day your stake will be increased to match your new bank if the bank
grows. If you lose and current bank is less than bank used to calculate stake, the

stake stays the same. You can see the bank used to calculate your stakes in the
Base Bank field.
If you don't want to increase your stakes along with the bank, tick Fixed Bank
box.
If you lose 35% of your highest bank level, then the stakes will be
recalculated based on your bank left, i.e. 65%.
You can control this level in Decrease Stake After field (by default set at
35%).
