INTRODUCTION

Self acceptance is acceptance of self in spite of deficiencies.


According to Shepard (1979), Self acceptance is an individuals
satisfaction or happiness with oneself, and is thought to be a necessary
for good mental health. Self acceptance involves self understanding,
a realistic, subjective, awareness of ones strengths and weakness. It
result in an individuals feeling about oneself, that they are of unique
worth.

In clinical psychology and positive psychology, Self


acceptance is considered the prerequisite for change to occur. It can be
achieved by stopping criticizing and solving the defects of ones self,
and then accepting them to be a existing within ones self. That is
tolerating oneself to be imperfect in some parts.

One of the biggest reasons lack of self acceptance


doesnt work is because of a very human tendancy to push away from
pain. It hurts every time you think about the issues so you end up not
wanting to look at our own problems too closely. Like the flame of a
blow torch we have learned not to get too close. We find other ways to
cope with the pain. We will tell ourself, get around to it someday.
Unfortunately someday never comes and it continues

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

To find out the rate of self acceptance of student teachers in


S.N. college of education , Muvattupuzha

OBJECTIVES

To know about the self acceptance of student teachers


To give an opportunity for student teachers to rate herself/ himself
To promote the importance of self acceptance among student
teachers

HYPOTHESIS

Most of the student teachers are poss average self acceptance.


And very low percentage of students teachers are poss above or
below average self acceptance.

DATA COLLECTION

To determine the self acceptance in a student teachers of S.N.


college , Muvattupuzha. There are twenty of them are randomly
selected and take it as a sample. So sample size is twenty. The tool
for this purpose is Dr. Kakkar self acceptance inventory tool of
English version. Or KSAI English version. It is prepared by Dr.
S.B. Kakkar , Patiala and published by National psychological
corporation, Agra in India.

METHODOLOGY

There are 34 questions are provided in the inventory


tool. Each question carries one mark each. And the final mark is in
between the range of 25-34. That pupil become above average in
the case of self acceptance. It is at the range of 17- 25, indicates
the average condition in self acceptance. And the mark below in
17 represent below average self acceptance.

The tool mainly contain some statements. Against


each statement we can find two cells. One is indicating the two
response, while other is related to false response. If we are agree
with the statement or feel that is true, encircle the cell below true
response. And if we are disagree with the statement or feel that is
not in true in our case, encircle the cell below false response.
Should answer every statement by encircling either cell.
ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION

This survey method using Dr. Kakkar self-acceptance inventory


tool conducted in a twenty teacher students sample at S. N college,
Muvatttupuzha In this study there are 5% pupil show average of self-
acceptance. 25% show average self-acceptance in condition and 70%
show below average of self-acceptance.

CONCLUSION

In this study we can blindly conclude that most of the pupil show
average attitude in self acceptance. Very low percentage shows the
above average condition. Below average conditions are also prominent
in the study. Therefore the proposed hypothesis is accepted. The mental
health of most of the student teachers is at the edge of unhealthy
routine. So it implies that 25 % teacher students are forced to improve
their self acceptance and 70 % need a slight maintenance in their self
acceptance.
