Over the course of the past five years, I have made an effort to develop my skil
ls and experience in numerous different ways. I have matured as an individual an
d my experience of working with others both colleagues and customers has contrib
uted a lot to my interpersonal skills. I am also better able to see the bigger p
icture and how my role relates to the overall goals of the organisation. Having
built up a broad range of experience, I am now much more productive in my role a
nd much better equipped to handle unusual or difficult situations. In terms of t
raining, I have learned a range of new IT skills, including Microsoft PowerPoint
and Microsoft Access. I have also undertaken an evening course in business admi
nistration which has helped to shape the way I work and has given a formal struc
ture to many of the skills I was already developing on a practical basis. I am a
lso now a qualified First Aider.
I am writing this paper according to my own work experience. I started working w
hen I was 13 years old. I worked at a kids clothing store in the mall after scho
ol and on the weekends. I started working at an early age because my family need
ed the money. My mother raised five children on her own by holding two jobs, so
we all had to help. I would go to school full time and work part time. I feel th
at I know the value of money due to my work experiences.
Once I start working, it was really hard to stop or cut back on the income that
I was earning. Ive always wanted to go back to college to get my degree, but I wa
s not able to because I didnt want to make less money. I tried going to school pa
rt time and working full time, but I was not able to do both. I think that if I
had the opportunity to get an education first, I would do so before trying to ea
rn a living, but in my situation I had to work. On the other hand, I think it wa
s good to have had the experience because it made me more discipline.
I started working due to necessity, but I think along the way luxury became my n
ecessity. I feel that no matter how much I make, it was not be enough because th
ere is always something else I need to have. I believe it is about the life styl
e I chose to live which is influence by the society we live in. I work hard now
because it is for my children. I want to provide them with what I did not have g
rowing up. I want to make sure that they have nothing to worry about except to f
inish school and get a good job. I did not have the same opportunity so I feel t
hat it is very important for me to provide them with the education they need. Mo
st jobs require a degree in order to move up in the company. All the work experi
ence that I had did not get me what I wanted at my company because of politics a
nd other reasons. This is the other reason why I am back in school. Education an
d experience is what most companies are seeking in ...

My first job was started in the year of 2002, on Jan. 22nd in ***Emotion: automo
bileChina Investment Company as an intern. After 6-month internship, I officiall
y joined ***Emotion: automobileas a formal employee. In December of the same yea
r, I was promoted to be Administration officer within administration department,
and then I worked in administration department for the next over 2 years till F
ebruary 2004. My main responsibilities in administration department were office
facilities purchasing, stationery purchasing, local vendor selecting through pub
lic bidding, invitation letter issue for German colleagues, flight ticket bookin
g, hotel booking and travel agent selecting etc.
Based on my excellent working performance in administration department, 2 outsta
nding yearly appraisals which were conducted by HR team, our HR manager provided
me a chance to be transferred to Sales department. Therefore, I happily accepte
d the offer and started working as Sales Operation Officer (***Emotion: automobi
leimport brand) since March 2004. The work in Sales department was really tough
for me at the beginning because of the lack my knowledge about auto industry and
sales operation management, but I believed I could control my work. After 2 mon
ths, I took over all my responsibilities in sales material update, ordering inpu
t system, contract issue, order tracking with factory in Germany, payment tracki
ng (L/C or T/T payment), coordination with finance/marketing/after sales/logisti
cs department, emergent problem solving and Auto show support etc... I have to s
ay I learned so much from sales job especially the knowledge of how to run busin
ess efficiently and effectively in a company.
Unfortunately, I quit my job in ***Emotion: automobilein November 2004 after I s
erved 9 months in their sales team. The main reason of my resignation was for to
o much workload in my position under the background that ***Emotion: automobilew
as running their import car business without a very clear sales procedure, sales
channel and market orientation. They authorized too many import car dealers wit
hout very strict qualification before they clearly identify the target marketing
share with their import brands. Despite the big Chinese auto market was dull by
2004; ***Emotion: automobileimport car business ran even worse.
In January 2005, I joined YYEmotion: mobile phoneLtd., China as a secretary to V
ice president in Communication Group. I had totally different job content and wo
rking atmosphere in YYEmotion: mobile phonehere which made me think about my car
eer development and personal growth carefully. Its not that easy to run such a bi
g company as YYEmotion: mobile phoneLtd. China, they have very strict working pr
inciples for everyone and use advanced system like SAP and budget control to sup
ervise the procedure of internal accounting, personnel, purchasing, IT support a
nd to allocate the work to all business units. People enjoy working here with th
e principles and they make profit meanwhile.
I deeply realized the importance of effective and appropriate internal structure
and system build up within a company through my working experience both in ***E
motion: automobileand YYEmotion: mobile phone.
