JOB DESCRIPTION LEAD ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITY
To ensure generation of Engineering design deliverables prepared with due diligence after
appropriate consideration of clients requirement and comprehensive compliance with PLEs
Quality Systems Procedure; to encourage a First-Time-Right (FTR) approach for preparation of
design deliverables, per approved budget/schedule.
ROLE PURPOSE
Essential
Lead & own the process of preparation of design deliverables with due consideration for
applicable Codes & Standards.
Interface with Leads of other departments to reflect the as-on-date input from other
departments, as applicable.
Take ownership of deliverables produced & their quality.
Capture all changes / modifications in the deliverables that has been intimated by
Project, prior to release of deliverable.
Ensure appropriate checking & review of all documents / drawings before release at any
Revision status.
Attend project review meetings.
Manpower estimation, work planning / forecast and effective utilization of manpower,
progress monitoring and adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.
Coordination with the other Engineering disciplines, client and vendors
Control of Quality of engineering documents with regard to Quality assurance basis.
Assist HOD in all departmental functions.
Secondary
Identify training needs of team members.
Keep HOD informed on progress of project, with agreed periodicity.
Monitor Budget Compliance of design deliverable production.
Escalate resource / infrastructure issues / concern areas that implicate the production
process, to the right office / agency.
Acts as a mentor for GETs / EDHTs.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
Essential B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical / Civil Engineering
Desired M Tech in Pipeline Engineering, Marine Structures, Civil/ Mechanical Engineering
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 9 15 years relevant experience in on-shore / off-shore Pipeline
Engineering, stress analysis

design /

SOFTWARE SKILLS
Essential
Hands on experience of carrying out following analysis on Caesar / Auto Pipe plus
Software
- Buried to Above Ground Pipeline section, stress / flexibility Analysis.
- Off-shore Riser Analysis
- Off-shore Crossing Analysis
- Plant Piping Stress Analysis.
Proficiency in using offshore pipeline design software such as plus one (Pens pen), Pipe
Calc (JP Kenny), Fat Free (DNV), AGA Stability. Stable lines (DNV).
Hands on experience in carrying out installation analysis of Off-Shore pipelines using
OFFPIPE and Orcaflex / Orcalay.
MathCad and AutoCad Application.
Desired
Good working knowledge of MS Office suite applications
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Essential
Carrying out design / engineering of on-shore & Off-shore pipelines as per ASME B31.4,
31.8, 31.3, Section VIII, API 1111, ISO and DNV, MSS Codes and Standards /
Recommended Practices.
Specifying and Procurement of Pipeline and Associated facilities materials using API,
ANSI, ASTM, ISO, DIN, CAZ, and BS Codes and Standards.
Capability to draft Specifications, Reports, Basis of Design.
Preparation of Alignment Sheets, Crossing Drawings, Route Maps, BV and Scraper
station layouts, PLEM Layouts, Riser GA etc.
Installation analysis of Off-shore & On-Shore Pipelines.

Specifying requirements for design of loading / unloading facilities / pipelines of OffShore terminals like, Jetties, SPM.
SPM Design Review.
