    Professionals to address audience at TEDxAUB event



    The TEDxAUB club is organizing the next and only TEDx event in Lebanon this
    winter. The event will take place on Saturday 14th November 2015 at Charles W.
    Hostler Center in the American University of Beirut.

    This years TEDxAUB 2015 will be under the theme of Blueprints. This years
    theme was chosen because unique speakers will present various ideas. The aim
    of their talks is to improve and solve situations present in our society; or in other
    words, they are the blueprints for improving resounding issues.

    The TEDxAUB club was established this year at the American University of
    Beirut and is currently organizing its inaugural event as a club. Majd Shidiac,
    president and co-curator of TEDxAUB, states: Our vision is to create a society
    that is built upon socially aware change makers and game changers, curious
    individuals and individuality of concepts. Were opening the floor for 300 curious
    attendees interested in the learning of new, innovative ideas to share our
    TEDxAUB experience making it better, more fruitful, and a lot more fun.

    This year will see an array of speakers present their ideas through short
    powerful talks including:

    (1) Georges Sassine, the co-founder of the Lebanese Oil and Gas Initiative (LOGI).
    (2) Mounir Camel-Toueg, managing partner of Telltale.
    (3) Tarik Anis Shehayeb is lead guitarist and founder of the Flamenco-Arab Rojo
    Del Libano Band.

    TEDx events are TED-like events featuring live speakers and performers aiming
    to share ideas and inspire others.

    What is TED?
    TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short,
    powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where
    Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all
    topics from science to business to global issues in more than 100 languages.

    What is TEDx?

    At TEDx events, a screening of TED Talks videos or a combination of live


    presenters and TED Talks videos sparks deep conversation and connections
    at the local level. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently,
    under a free license granted by TED. Till now, 800 cities around the world have
    hosted one or more TEDx event in 126 countries; 3190 TEDx events have taken
    place and this year TEDxAUB is going to add another one for the records!

    What is TEDxAUB?
    TEDxAUB is an independently organized TED event that takes place annually in
    AUB. Our cultural conference hosts live speakers to give renowned TEDx talks
    about different topics in their fields and experiences, spreading knowledge,
    sharing ideas, and building a community of curious individuals that strive to gain
    knowledge. The group of live speakers taking part in these conferences are
    experts in their fields, and with the help of the TEDxAUB team they become
    experts on the TEDx's round carpet.
