Dynasty Subwoofer
The Dynasty is a sonic powerhouse. It doesn't apologize for its size because that is
what helps it achieve subsonic nirvana. When your appetite for the absolute lowest
bass performance seems impossible to satisfy, it is time to consider the Dynasty.
You've heard about those amazing movie soundtracks that drop to subterranean
depths, but when you watch them your subwoofer doesn't seem to make that magic
happen. Few subwoofers can, and they are usually priced out of this world. The
Dynasty changes all this and allows you to experience this fourth dimension of
sound.
The Dynasty flaunts the advantages of being an Extended Bass Shelf (EBS) design.
In short, the computer-aided cabinet design takes our world-renowned 18" driver and
extends its reach into the realm of bass that can only be felt.
The top end of the spectrum is equally impressive. With a flat frequency response,
the mid-bass is simply astounding. Its visceral impact and definition are just as
impressive as the low end. The end result is a subwoofer with outstanding musicality
and a seemingly unlimited low end.
The Dynasty's cabinet has been engineered to handle the enormous requirements
placed upon it, to reproduce bass nearly an octave below audibility. The huge
slot-loaded port effortlessly sweeps massive amounts of air without compression. To
keep the cabinet free from vibration, it is heavily lined with internal bracing that
renders the outer walls inert and controlled.
What the Dynasty does best is bring a music or home theater system to life. It adds
an unexplainable amount of dynamic capability to even the best setups. No matter
what size your listening room is, the Dynasty is up to the task and then some.
Features
It all starts with an extremely high BL (motor strength) high excursion motor
design featuring a 3" voice coil and hyper-linear spider. Utilizing expensive
high-strength ceramic magnets, the driver delivers both high sensitivity and low
distortion.
To properly harness the power of motor, we used a massive cast aluminum frame.
The downright beautiful silver-anodized frame aids in cooling the motor both with
its surface area and its larger air flow vents located near the voice coil.
To move the kind of air that we at Epik demand, we utilized a beefy curvi-linear
Kevlar impregnated paper-pulp cone. What makes it so special is our use of an
extra tall and thin rubber surround. The surround allows for huge excursion, and
also results in an enormous surface area.
The massive cone area gives this driver several huge advantages. It effectively
uses less excursion for the same output level as a smaller driver. Lower excursion
translates into lower distortion. It works less to create the same output than most
drivers. In fact, the cone area of this 18" driver is roughly equal to a pair of 13"
drivers. When directly compared to a single 13" driver, it only needs to move
about half as much for the same output!
