A good communication is very important inourdaytoday activity.Itgives us a
chance to convey our message properly. However, in the play Ang Katatawanan Ng

Kalituhan, an adaptationof WilliamShakespeares Comedy of Errors, thereseemedto

The whole play is basically about the twins whose life wascompletely troubled

because they are in the wrong place at a wrong time. The whole town was confused
having two ArtifuloandDromeo without knowingthatthere areactuallytwoArtifuloand
Dromeoroamingaroundtheirtown.

In the whole play, miscommunication is very prominent. From thestartuntil the

part where they have discovered the truth. One instance of this miscommunication
happened when Artifulo ofSyracusa met Dromeoof Efeso firstmetin the market. The
two were confused and fighting since Artifulo of Syracusa asked Dromeo of Efeso
where is the golds and money Artifulo asked Dromeo to safely keep them. However,
Dromeo of Efeso didnt understand any of what Artifulo is saying and is also mad
because Luciana, Artifulos wife is angry sincehis husband, Artifulodidnt came home
for lunch. The problemsand misunderstandingof the Artifulo of Syracusa andDromeo
ofEfesocausedthemtofight,argueandhurteachother.
In this scene, miscommunication happened because they kept on shouting to
eachother. The two are not listening towhateachotheraresaying.Theyareforgetting
tothinkaboutandunderstandthecontextofwhateachpersonwassaying.

These miscommunications of Artifulo of Syracusa and Dromeo of Efeso could

haveavoidedthesemiscommunications if theycouldhavelistenedwhile onepersonis
talking and fully understand what the context is and of course listening to the
explanationofoneanother.
Not listening nor understanding what a person is saying are usual causes of
miscommunication. These two are not only visible in the play but in our day to day
activities as well. If these two causes are avoided, theres a chance that
miscommunicationbetweentwopeoplewillbeavoided.
Since the audience can feel that they are part of the play because of all the
interactions of the actors with their audience, I believe thatthisplay ispresentedvery
wellthroughaplay.However, Ithink that presentingitthrough abookwillgivetheplay
achance toexplainthedetails further and describingthe setting vividlywouldnotbea
problem since the setting of the play is very much familiar to us. There is already a

disappointedto how someimportant details areomittedbecauseitwouldnotsuittothe

Also, the interaction made by the actors to its audience made it more comedic and
enjoyable.
IfI would ratethe play,Iwouldrateitas4.5.Havingadreamofactinginagrand

the stage setting is simple, everypart ofitwas properly usedallthroughout the play. I
also admired how the actors of the play can totally portray the characters they are
playing and how good they are in adlibs and how well they manage situations like
forgettingtheirlinesand concentrating on what they are doingeven iftheaudienceare
really distracting. The missing 0.5 is for the times that their voices are not audible
especialllyin the back.I knowthat itisinevitablebuttheactorseffortswouldbe wasted
