TMP 36-Analog temperature sensor

The TMP36 is the device that can be used to measure very accurately the physical parameter which is
temperature to a certain extent range. This sensor is categorized into solid state device and BJTs method
is mainly used to develop it.by this sensor, an analog voltage signal can be generated to measure the
temperature which proportional to the voltage.
Working principle: all the semi-conductor temperature sensor make use of the relationship between a
bipolar junction transistors base-emitter to its collector current which is given by, =

()

Where Ic-collector current, Is dark current, k-Boltzmann constant, T-absolute temperature, q-charge of
an electron.in side the sensor, BJTs are in some configuration (figure 1) and final output analog voltage
can be written as ( ) =

(),where N is no. of identical BJT.

For fixed value N, is proportional to absolute temperature T. this is the phenomena is

used to develop semi-conductor temperature sensor.
Characteristic: The TMP 36 is a low voltage temperature sensor with a / scale factor
(sensitivity). Supply current is very low which is below 50uA, providing very low self-heating.
TMP 36 is specified from (dynamic range) and provide a 750 mv output
at . The TMP36 do not require any external calibration to provide typical accuracies of 1 C at
+25 C and 2 C over the 40 C to +125 C temperature range. Also typical value of nonlinearity
is . .transfer function is very linear in range (figure 2).
