Singapore got their independence during August 9, 1965 under their first
leader Lee Kuan Yew. After being a sovereign nation Singapore before suffers many
problems and strive for many challenges. These challenges that the newly nation face
before were poverty, diseases and ethnic strife. These challenges blocked the nation's
improvement which seriously becomes the threat to a newly independent country.
Aside from that Singapore has a poor land and natural resources and this really
became one of their problems in building their country. But Singapore was very
decisive to be futures develop country, this is why they made changes and they do it
by focusing on their education.
From the offset Singapores educational system have three imperatives:
1.
Singapore gave the students their sense of identity. They taught the students
the citizenship that they have as to their nation.
2.
Next is that the nation allow the multilingual society. Singapore has three
official languages- Malay, Chinese, and Tamil. They implemented bilingual policy, in
which they used English as a medium in school and this policy were implemented
during 1987. This bilingual policy allows the students to have a common
communicative tool for their conversation with others.
3.
And lastly the nation focuses on the improvement of Science and Technology.
They really made advancement in the field of knowledge to address their lack of
resources that will aid them to go for development.
And after 30 Singapore made a new strategy in their educational system. It is during
1997 when they release a plan for education entitled Thinking Schools, Learning
Nation. Through this the nation enhances/strengthen their teaching force, give a
greater autonomy to schools and rewarding success. In this implementation teacher
were said to wants this new strategy. Last 2012 Singapore become 37th nation
around the world who has an improved economy. They are now a nation which really
has a high income and brings changes despite of their lack of resources.
At present Singapore was hoping in these 2015 in recruiting top ranking
teachers for the good education. They give much training to the teachers and prepare
the students to be more competent and knowledgeable. Autonomy of the schools was
allowing the school to form clusters which comprises 12-14 schools. Also schools
were being given a reward for them to perform well especially in researches and
discoveries. Because of all of this Singapore gained much improvement at this
present having a strengthened educational system. They became the world's greatest
financial and trade centers. They always won a contest internationally making it to be
popular. Their students were really very good because of their educational system
that is why they are known in national school system.

Since the late 1970s, Singapore has been proactive in promoting the
appropriate use of technologies for day-to-day activities through six national
Information Technology (IT) plans. Within this context, the Ministry of Education
embarked on three sets of ICT Masterplans for Education for all levels of schools.
In the AsiaPacific region, the major cities/regions such as Singapore, Hong
Kong, Taiwan, and Beijing are putting effort into the official policies on e-Learning
for enhancing the quality of school education. With different cultural backgrounds,
these major Asian cities/regions have different goals and approaches in the policies
on promoting e-Learning in the school education sector.
Even though Singapore is just a small country but they were rich in any
aspect especially when it come to their educational system. Singapore's education
system has been described as "world-leading" and in 2010 was among those picked
out for commendation by the former British Tory education secretary Michael
Gove. The School of Science and Technology, Singapore (SST) is a specialized
independent secondary school in Singapore, established in 2010. It offers a four-year
applied-learning curriculum which leads to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O
Level examination. The school uses Direct School Admissions (DSA) Exercise to
obtain its cohorts with the application including a selection camp and several
academic tests. In the city, there is no need for a car. The amazing thing that I found
out is that public transportation is excellent and walking is a good way to explore the
city. All major attractions are also accessible by tour bus. Singapore's progress over
the past three decades has been remarkable, yet the island has not been
overwhelmed by development. Singapores very own slice of Las Vegas, the
gigantic Marina Bay Sands integrated resort features the citys biggest casino and a
shopping mall so big it has its own canal offering gondola rides - not to mention the
boat-like structure perched atop its three enormous curved skyscrapers which
houses the worlds highest rooftop pool. Though it may be a little opulent for some,
this place has the wow factor to say the least. Among the skyscrapers and high-rise
homes across the city its easy to forget Singapore was once home to swathes of
tropical rainforest. The good news is, it still has some left: nature reserves such
as Bukit Timah Nature Reserve the highest point in Singapore - andMacritchie
Reservoir Park may no longer be home to tigers, but offer an escape from the city
where you can work up a sweat and soak in the local wildlife with birds, monkeys
(watch out if you have a packed lunch open) and lizards frequently greeting guests.
The place of Singapore is so amazing compare to Philippines this country has
its beautiful environment and culture.
