Citrix Server\Client Installation and

Configuration Guide
Note:
This document will lead you to install and configure the Citrix Client and Presentation
Server 4.5. Before you starting to read this document, its better to get a full picture of
Citrix technology. If you have no idea what Citrix is, its recommended to read the
Presentation_Server_Administrator_Guide to get the general idea.

1. Prerequisite

Operation System: Windows Server 2003 R2 sp2


Rename the PC and then join the your company domain. Change the
computer name to the valid license name. For example, now we have a valid
license named ABCDE09-A1B2C3.lic, so change the computer name as
ABCDE09-A1B2C3.
Windows Update. It is strong recommend that you install all the available
windows update.
DB was needed on the Citrix Server. You can choose SQL Server, Oracle or MS
Access. Here we choose MS access as the database.
Install windows components IIS from StartSettingControl PanelAdd or
Remove ProgramsAdd/Remove Windows Components
Install Microsoft Terminal Services following the below steps:
On the Windows Component Wizard page, check the check-box of Terminal Server;
click Yes to the Configuration Warning dialog as below:

Click Yes button to continue the installation. Keep default and click next until it goes
to the Terminal Server license server page as below

Choose Use these license servers: and enter the server name as shlab26 and
click Check Names, click Next. Select Per Device licensing mode on the license
mode page and click Next. Ensure theres no error during installation and then
reboot PC as required.

2. Install and configure Citrix Licensing server


2.1. Installation executable location:
Find the file name CTX_Licensing.msi and install it.

2.2. Install license server

Determine which computer you will use to install the license server.
Using a domain account that is also a member of the local administrators group, log onto the
computer on which you are installing the license server
Follow the wizard accepting the default options, except for the following item (if necessary).
Ensure that the option to install the License Management Console is not selected

2.3. Manually obtain a license file

Please go to licensing file location and point to licensing file.


At the license server, copy the license file to the MyFiles directory (C:\Program
Files\Citrix\Licensing\MyFiles on a 32-bit computer or C:\Program Files
(x86)\Citrix\Licensing\MyFiles on a 64-bit computer)
At a command prompt, navigate to C:\Program Files\Citrix\Licensing\LS and type the
following command: lmreread c @localhost
This command ensures that the license server recognizes the new file. Please verify that you
see the information lmreread successful as below: And now you have installed Citrix
Licensing correctly.

3. Install and Configure Citrix Presentation Server 4.5


3.1. Installation executable location:
\\Citrix\Installation\Server\CPS45_EN_W2K3\Autorun.exe

Double Click Autorun.exe


Select Product Installations and Updates
Select the 3rd itemInstall Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 and its component
The license agreement page will be invoked. Select I agree the license
agreement radio-button, and scroll down to the end of the license
agreement. Click Next button.
5. Click Next on the Prerequisites Installation page.
6. On the Component Selection page, select all the features except Citrix
licensing. Click Next button
7. On the next page, select I already have a license server or radio-button,
click Next button to continue
8. After the update system window, click Next on the Citrix Access
Management Console Installation welcome page.
9. On the Component Selection page, select all the components and click Next.
10. Click Next on the Ready to Install page
11. After the components installation finished, click Finish button
12. Click Ok on the Citrix Web Interface Setup warning dialog which requires
ASP.Net v2.0 as below:

13. Now the Citrix Web Interface installation wizard comes up. Click Next
button.
14. Keep default and click Next on the Common components page.
15. On the Location of client CD-ROM page, choose Dont install the Clients
from the Components CD-ROM and then click Next button.
16. Click Next or Install button to perform the actual installation.
17. When the Citrix Web Interface installation is successful, Click Finish button.
18. Now the welcome page of Citrix Presentation Server setup pops up. Click
Next on it.
19. On the Production Edition Selection Page, select Enterprise Edition radiobutton. Click Next button. Please be sure to choose Enterprise Edition as
below:

20. Select all the features on the component selection page and click next button.
21. On the Server Address for the pass-Through Client Page, enter the server
name and click Next button
22. On the Pass-through Authentication for the pass-Through Client page,
choose Yes and click next button
23. On the Create or Join a Server Farm page, keep default to create a new farm.
Click Next button to continue.
24. On the Create a Server Farm page, enter a name in the Farm name text box
and choose Access Database from the Use a local database on this Server
drop down list. (You can also choose other database if the database was
installed on the Server, Since MS is installed on the server, here we choose
Access Database, please refer to the fourth item of the prerequisite section
), Please refer to below picture:

25. On the Assign Farm Administrators Credentials Page, the default user is the
user who is performing the installation. Keep it as default and click Next
button
26. Keep all default and click next until the Review your selection listed below
page. Make sure all the information is correct. Click finish on it.
27. Click Yes on the warning dialog which informs you to change the security
setting. The picture is as below:

28. Click Close button on the finished page. Also close the readme for Citrix
Presentation window
29. The welcome page of the Management console for Citrix server installation
wizard will pop up; Keep all default to finish the management console
installation.
30. Keep all default for the Citrix Presentation Server Document Center setup
wizard to finish the installation.
31. Restart PC as required after the Citrix installation finished.

3.3. Configure and Deploy the Citrix Presentation Server after installation
3.3.1. Finding Items in Your Deployment Using Discovery
1. Start the Access Management Console. Click Start > All Programs > Citrix >
Management Consoles > Access Management Console
2. Using the Access Management Console, discover the servers in your farm. The
first time you open the console, the Configure and Run Discovery wizard runs
automatically, Click Next twice and then Add the Citrix Server host name to
the Contact the following Servers running the configurations Service textbox
as below:

3. Click Next and then click Add Local Computer on the next page of the
wizard.
4. Click Next twice and then finish the Configure and run discovery
procedure
5. Expand the left tree of the Citrix Access Management Console, and select the
Server name node. Ensure theres no error under the Servers health Metrics.

3.3.2. Publishing Resources


1. With Citrix Presentation Server, you can expand your users access to
information by publishing resources on servers. You can publish the following
types of resources:
Applications installed on servers running Citrix Presentation Server
Data files such as Web pages, documents, media files, spreadsheets, and
URLs
The servers desktop
For the testing within AspenTech, we choose to publish the Servers desktop
2. In the scope pane of Citrix Access Management Console, right click on a
server and then select All Tasks >Publish application on server. See below:

3. Then the Publish Application Wizard will pop up. Click Next on it and then
enter the display name and description for your publish.
4. Click Next and choose the Server Desktop as the type of application to
publish.
5. Click Next and ensure that you see the Citrix Server name was displayed,

6. Click Next and it will go to the User page. From the select directory type
drop down list, select Operations System User Selector, click Add button
and Ok the warning message.
7. Then click Location and choose Entire
Directory\aspentech.com\corp.aspentech.com and then hit Ok on the
locations dialog. See below:

8. Type corp\domain users in the filed and ok the Select users or groups
dialog. Now you will see corp\domain users under the configured users.

9. Keep default and click next to finish the Publish Application procedure.

4. Install and Configure Citrix Client


4.1. The installation executable locations:
\\Citrix\Installation\Client\Ica32Pkg.msi

Launch the ica32okg.exe and select language


Click next on the Citrix Presentation Server Client Setup screen
Accept the license agreement and click next
Select all the features except Program Neighborhood Agent on the select
Client screen and click next
5. Keep all default and click next to perform the installation.

4.3 .Configuring the Citrix Client


1. Open the Citrix Program Neighborhood (CPN)
2. Double Click on the Application Set Manager

3. Double click on the Find New Application Set

4. Choose Local Area Network and Click Next

5. Click Server Location button and change the protocol to TCP\IP and add
the server name, then Ok the Locate New Application Set dialog.

6. Select the Application set from the drop down list and keep all default to finish
the configuration.

7. Double click the new application set icon, for example the new created application set
China Sever

8. You will be asked to logon

9. After you logon a new icon will appear

10. Double Click the icon to connect to the Citrix server


11. If you want to connect to the server with another account, refer to following steps:
Right click on the new created icon and select application set setting
Select the logon Information tab
Enter the user name that you want to use.

5. Aspen Products Installation


1. Insert the product DVD, the AspenTech Installation Browser will come up or you can
also go to the CD-Drive and double click the Setup.exe to invoke it.
2. Select the tab Administration or Products depends on what you want to install.
3. Complete the License configuration Wizard depends on the license type you want to
use.
4. Select the product suite that contains the product that you want to install and click
next.
5. Click next on the welcome page and accept the license agreement.
6. Choose the installation type depends on the product that you want to install.
7. Select the feature that you want to install and then change the installation directory (if
you want) and click next
8. Enter the user information if required.
9. Click Install button to perform actual installation and click ok on the message queue
dialog is needed.
