What is a forex spike?

A forex spike is a a sudden, significant change in value of a currency
pair, plainly visible on shorter timeframe charts like the 1 min or the 5
min. Spikes in the forex market are often caused by news releases and
unexpected events such as central bank interventions.

What is ForexScanner Forex Spike Detective?

Forex Spike Detective will scan the forex market for sudden spikes and
will alert you in real-time. For example: Price at GBPJPY moved 60
pips
Forex Spike Detective Advantages

It will scan the 1 min charts (scalpers), 5 min charts (daytraders), 1
hour charts (swing traders) and daily charts (long-term traders).
Forex Spike Detective works for 19 currency pairs and 4
timeframe's :
Currency pairs: EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDCHF, AUDUSD, USDJPY,
USDCAD, NZDUSD, GBPJPY, EURCHF, EURJPY, EURGBP, EURCAD,
EURAUD, AUDJPY, CHFJPY, GBPCHF, AUDCAD, AUDNZD and CADJPY.
Timeframe's: 1 min, 5 min, 1 hour and dailies.
As a result, ForexScanner Spike Detective scans a total of 76 forex
charts for possible spikes in the market.

Installation Tutorial

2.1 Installing Forex Spike Detective

Along with this manual, you've received a zipped file which contains 4
indicators, 4 templates and 1 profile. Please copy the zipped file to
your desktop or your preferred windows folder. Then unzip the
ForexSpikeDetective.zip file. You can download a free tool to unzip
files here. Now double click the unzipped file.
The unzipped ForexSpikeDetective file contains three folders.

Step 2.A

Double click the experts folder to open > double click the
indicators folder inside the experts folder to open.
Copy all indicators (4), to the MetaTrader4/experts/indicators
folder located on your computer.
Step 2.B

Double click the templates folder to open.

Copy all templates to the MetaTrader4/templates folder located
on your computer.

Step 2.C

Double click the profiles folder to open.

Copy the profile to your the MetaTrader4/profiles folder located
on your computer.

That's it!

2.2 Running Forex Spike Detective

After you've finished the above installation procedure, just start the
MetaTrader 4 Client from your desktop or from the Start menu via
MT4's shortcut.
If the MT4 Client was running while you installed the Spike Detective,
you have to restart MT4 (exit and re-start it again), otherwise you
won't be able to use it.

2.3 Testing Forex Spike Detective

A. Make sure Metatrader4 is running on your computer.
B. Testing Forex Spike Detective

Click on the File menu at the top-left corner >

Select the profiles option >
Select the ForexSpikeDashBoard Profile

You will notice how 4 charts pop up in your MT4 platform screen: GBP/
JPY 1 min chart, EUR/USD 5 min chart, EUR/USD 1 hour chart and
finally the EUR/USD daily chart.
FAQ: One of the charts doesn't load properly and shows
Waiting for update? What am I supposed to do now?
Solution: Remove the chart for the profile and open a new chart, then
attach the appropriate spike detective indicator. For instance, the GBP/
JPY 1 min chart doesn't load properly. Remove the chart and open a 1

min chart GBP/JPY chart, then attach the ForexSpikeScalper.ex4

indicator and you're done.
We recommend you to re-adjust them to fit your screen by clicking on
the window menu, and selecting the tile vertically option.

3.1 How to use Forex Spike Detective for scalpers?

Attach the ForexSpikeScalpers template to the EUR/USD 1 min chart.
The spike indicator will send out an alert in real-time, both pop up and
audible alert once the number of pips movement reaches the following
values:

Modify the pip values > Finally click the ok button and close the

For instance, you want to be alerted when the GBP/JPY moves

40 pips within the 1 min timeframe.
Follow the steps above in order to change the GBP/JPY default pip
value to 40. Then click ok and close the indicators window. That's it.

3.2 How to use Forex Spike Detective for daytraders?

Attach the ForexSpikeDaytraders template to the EUR/USD 5 min
chart.
The spike indicator will send out an alert in real-time, both pop up and
audible alert once the number of pips movement reaches the following
values:

The spike indicator will send out an alert in real-time, both pop up and
