WARNINGS, CAUTIONS AND NOTES:
Warnings:
Significant terrain in close proximity to the airfield several peaks exceeding 3000 ft can be
found within 25 NM. The western region of the Alps extends from northeast of Lyon in an arc to
the south with some mountain peaks, including Mont Blanc, exceeding 11000 ft.
Cautions:
Use standard R/T phraseology. ATC controller may at times be difficult to understand.
Bird activity in the vicinity of the airfield.
RNAV RWY18R Final Course is not aligned with RWY as shown on Lido Charts. There is a slight
offset.
Notes:
Noise abatement procedure apply. Refer LIDO AOI.
Crew are advised to taxi with caution during turns and exercise judgmental oversteer technique.
TWY A1 and A3 has no centreline lighting but has edge lighting.

ARRIVAL
Expect AMVAR RNAV STAR followed by radar vectors. RWY36R/18L is the preferential runway
for landing.
Both RWY18L and 18R have limited high intensity non-standard approach light systems. It
consists of sequenced flashing lights along the extended RWY centerline 600 m for RWY18R
and 900m for RWY18L.
Runway 36L and 36R do not have any PAPI or other form of visual vertical guidance. 36R is
the shorter of the two and is the preferred landing runway. Based on this combination, extra
caution should be exercised.
Pilots are encouraged to vacate RWY36R expeditiously except LVP conditions, via exit V4 each
time it is possible unless unable due safety.

Movement Areas:
The terminal building is located on the West side of the airfield with the two parallel RWYs to
the East. This layout requires landing aircraft to cross the parallel RWY used for takeoff when
taxiing to the apron.

Ramp/Parking:
Expect B92 as parking stand which is a non-standard lead-in between B91 and B93 in
Terminal 2.

Expect a RISOR RNAV departure SID. RWY36L/18R is preferred for take-off.


Some SID and missed approach procedures specify initial turns to be made at 1200 ft. In
combination with the stipulated noise abatement procedure, the early turn requirement adds
complexity to the initial climb-out.
Climb gradient requirements exceed 3.3% for all SIDs. Some SIDs to south-east have higher
climb gradients.
General Information:
Geography: Lyon Saint Exupery Airport is located 11NM east southeast of Lyon city in the
Rhone-Alpes region of east-central France.
Weather: The climate in Lyon is classified as borderline Oceanic and humid subtropical.
Winters are colder than much of southern France due to its position inland. Temperatures
average 3.2 deg. C in January. Summers are warm with temperatures averaging 21.3 deg. C
in July.

in turns. It is recommended to use oversteering technique.
Stands A21-A36 push-back could be announced on Preflight FREQ (DLV).

Speed
Within LFLL class C TMA, MAX IAS 250KT below FL100 except explicit CLR initiated by ATC.
If unable to maintain 250KT for technical reason or FLT quality, higher speed is possible after ATC CLR.
Communication
Follow or join the STAR assigned or, failing that, the nearest one.
Proceed over IAF at last assigned acknowledged FL if this one is usable in the HLDG pattern, or, for lack
of this, at the upper LVL of the HLDG stack.
Perform HLDG pattern until the latest of the following times:
- EAT or
- ARR time in the pattern plus 10min.
Then descend in the HLDG stack towards to FL noted on IAC in accordance with the PROC in use (ex.
FL70, FL80, FL100).
Leave IAF and perform the APCH PROC.
Radio Failure followed by a MISAP:
- Comply with the MISAP described on respective IAC, then perform a new APCH.
- If this second attempt is followed by a new MISAP, divert towards the AD stated in flight plan climbing
up to MNM safe ENRT ALT.
Arrival Procedure
Reduction of Radar Separation on Final Approach
3NM MNM RAD separation can be reduced to 2.5NM between 2 ACFT on final APCH RWY 18L or 36R
when the preceding ACFT belongs to a wake turbulence category lower or equal to category of following
ACFT. This MNM separation is not applicable behind a heavy ACFT or B757.
Arrival Note
In the event of MISAP, ATC may change standard MISAP instructions. CLRs can be given in order to turn
to E at or above 1200ft and climb to an ALT compatible with AMSR MNM initially. From 1200ft and above,
all ATC CLRs are given under RAD vectoring.
LDG RWY 18R: Preferential PROC is RNAV (GNSS) 18R, if unable to perform inform APP on first contact.
Visual APCH: Prohibited except in EMERG.
VOR/DME 18R: PROC to be used only when ILS 18L U/S or RWY 18L CLSD.
CFA 3N/3S: JET and PROP FIR.
LABAL 3N/3S: JET and PROP UIR.
MILPA 3N/3S, MTL 3N/3S, TIS 3N/3S: JET and PROP UIR and FIR.
Reverse : Do not use between 2100-0500, except when necessary for operational and safety purposes.
