Power testing.
- Phase 1 Trials: This comprehensive
effort included full power testing of the
engines and propulsion motors, ship
services link converters, and energy
stores. Trials included especially
difficult tests of high-voltage (HV) and
low-voltage (LV) short circuits on load,
full malsynchronization of generators,
crash reversals, and full load tripping
events.
- Phase 2 Trials: This phase was
reserved for more detailed
investigations into results from the
earlier trials, including testing of
efficiency, noise, and Electromagnetic
Capability (EMC) characterization of
the equipment. In parallel with Phase
2 trials, the site was modified to
undertake shore integration testing of
the Type 45 destroyer system.
- System Integration Testing (SIT)
Testing: Following Phase 2 trials,
system integration testing was
performed. The SIT configuration
remains onsite to support the first
batch of Type 45 destroyers into
service.
Successful results. The initial ESTD
project was concluded successfully
in 2005 with the equipment and
architecture achieving excellent
performance results that exceeded
expectations in many cases.
Validated models. GE delivered
validated models to our customers
along with a vast amount of data
recorded by the DAS system that
remains available for future analysis.
The ESTD testing site remains fully
utilised for future equipment and
architecture de-risking; exciting
prospects are in the pipeline.

Generators
GE provides highly reliable generators designed
to be flexible in applicationenabling the
customer to maintain control over fuel costs,
installation costs and technical specifications. An
additional advantage is the modular nature of
the design, which allows shorter lead times and
improved capital cost control.
GE created and implemented the first
fundamentals of large-scale electrical
generation. Today we continue to deliver
innovative power generation solutions to
the world.
Generators are designed and manufactured to
operate efficiently and reliably in challenging
applications and severe environments where
ease of maintenance is critical.

Reliability. Since GE introduced the
worlds first 15 kV vacuum circuit
breaker in the 1960s, it has been a
world leader in vacuum technology,
accumulating over 55 years of
reliable field operation.
Compact footprint. Enabling a
greater density of circuits in the
smallest possible space frees more
real estate on the vessel for core
business activity.
OneGE solution. Distribution,
protection, control and metering
all from OneGE provides greater
co-ordination and a single point of
contact.
Safety and reliability. A metalenclosed partition switchgear
segregates all functional sections for
improved safety and reliability due to
its full compartmentalization.
Internal arc classification With
internal arc testing in accordance with
IEC standards to 40 kA for 1s in all
compartments, vessel operator and
crew are provided enhanced safety
from events, whether from the front,
sides or rear of the switchboard.
Safety and availability. A Fully
insulated bus bar system reduces the
possibility of any internal arc in the
bus bar section, enabling increased
uptime of the switchboard.

provided by a centrifugal pump.
With a high molecular weight, the
CO2 reaches the liquid phase at high
pressure (> 90 bar) and water-cooled
temperature without the need for any
additional power installation.
Benefits
Designed for difficult environments.
The pumps are designed
specifically to handle pressures,
elevated temperatures and fluids
with low specific gravity.
Resonance-avoidant. The product
is developed using finite element
analysis (FEA) to avoid resonance in
structural and natural foundation
fre-quencies.
Rigorously tested and validated.
Enhanced DDHF pumps are vetted
by advanced testing facilities for
liquefied CO2, including a CO2filled closed loop for performance
assessment under specified in-field
conditions.

The need for long-lasting, highly-reliable, environmentallyaware pumping solutions makes GEs SPS* surface pumping
systems an appealing solution.
GEs SPS pumping systems provide versatile, low-maintenance
alternatives to many high-speed integral gear-driven
centrifugal (OH6), positive displacement (PD) and verticalturbine pump (VTP) models.
Solution & Scope
Available in gas, electric or diesel
powered models, GEs SPS pumps can
handle up to 2,500 gpm (85,000 BFPD)
and discharge pressures up to 6000 psi.
SPS systems are delivered to the job site
pre-assembledonly requiring suction
flange, discharge flange and power
hookups. The Easily Modified SPS Frame*
(EMF) is pre-wired with instrumentation
and cabling terminated in a central
junction box. This proprietary frame
paired with the versatile design of
our pumpsenables easy on-site
installation.
135
Benefits
GEs SPS pump is designed for years
of trouble-free operation, with no
V-belts or packing to service. Routine
maintenance consists of a quarterly
lubricant change and component check.
SPS units generate little to no vibrationrelated wear or stress on piping
components and are available with
a variety of mechanical seal options
(including API 682 seals). Their modular
design is suitable for a variety of
applications, from routine water
injection to mine de-watering and
leaching operations. This reliable pump
is highly-efficient and easily modified in
the field to reduce maintenance time.

Benefits
Viscosity independent. The LCT4
uses a number of proprietary
algorithms to reduce viscosity
effects, making it viscosity
independent. The meter retains
its accuracy over the whole range
between minimum and maximum
viscosity, using only one calibration
curve.
Real-time flow data. The Panaview
software, which facilitates
communication between the
Sentinel LCT4 and a PC, provides
real-time flow data, and it also can do
historical tracking and create a full
configuration audit trail.
No recalibration necessary. There
is no need for recalibration when
replacing transducers or electronics,
since that has been independently
tested by NMI as part of the OIML
certification.

Benefits
Accurate flow rate measurement.
The transmitter delivers accurate
flow rate measure-ment,
independent of gas composition.
High velocity range. It has a high
velocity range to 120 m/s (394 ft/s).
Minimal maintenance. Less
maintenance is required because
there are no moving parts, holes or
tubes, and there is tolerance to dirty
or wet conditions.

Accurate, worry-free operation.
Daily Zero and Span Self-Calibration
check assure accurate, worry-free
operation.
Superiority of Correlation TransitTime technique. The Correlation
Transit-Time technique enables
superior performance from the
flow meter under conditions such
as unsteady or bidirectional flow
rate, pulsating pressure, varying
composition and temperature, harsh
environments, and wide flow range.

Benefits
Transducer versatility. Either
clamp-on or wetted transducers
can be used. Clamp-on transducers
offer excellent convenience,
flexibility and low installation cost
com-pared to traditional flow
metering technologies, while wetted
transducers can provide excellent
accuracy (better than 0.5 percent of
reading) in most applications.
