In this adopted standard, certain terminology and conventions are not identical with those used in Indian Standards. Attention is specially drawn to the following: a) Wherever the words ‘Internationel Standard’ appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’ b) Comma (, ) has been used as decimal marker while in Indian Standards the current practice is to use point (.) as the decimal marker. In this adopted standard, reference appears to certain Intemational Standards for which Indian Standards also exist. The corresponding Indian Standards which are to be substituted in their place ate listed below along with their degree of equivalence for the editions indicated: International Standard Corresponding Indian Standard Degree of Equivalence ISO 3320 : 1987 1S 8208 : 1976 Sizes for cylinder bores Technically ‘and piston rod diameters for fluid equivalent power systems ISO 5698 : 1985 I$ 10416 : 1991 Fluid power systems Identical ‘and components — Vocabulary (first revision ) ISO 6149 : 1980, IS 13170 : 1991 Fluid power systems Identical ‘and components — Metric ports — Dimensions and design The concemed technical committee has reviewed the provisions of ISO 6022, ISO 6162! and 1SO 61641, referred in this adopted standard and has decided that they are acceptable for use in conjunction with this standard. : NOTE — The titles ofthe present versions of the referred draft international Standards are as under ISO/DIS 6162 Hydraulic fluid power ~ Foureserew split. flange connections for use. at pressutes of 2.5 MPa to 40 MPa (26 bar to 400 bar )— Type inch series and type ll metic series, ISO/DIS 6164'3. One component of such systems is the fluid power cylinder. This is a device which converts power into linear mechanical {force and motion. It consists of a movable element, ie. a piston {and piston rod, operating within a cylindrical bore. 1 Scope and field of application This International Standard establishes port dimensions" for 250 bar2) (25 MPa) series cylinders as required for inter- ‘changeabllty f commonly used hydraulic cylinders. NOTE — This\ otenational Standard allows manufacturers of hydraulic equipment freedom in design of metric eyinders; it doesnot restrict technical development but provides basic guidelines. 2.
