Household & Personal Care
In personal care and household products our antimicrobial
chemistries and preservatives offer high performance, cost
effective solutions. They ensure that the final products are
protected from contamination and are safe to use on the skin
whilst maintaining product stability and compatibility.
Pulp & Paper
In paper making, our biocides are used to control slime build-up
in the process water. This ensures that the paper mill machinery
runs efficiently and the subsequent finished paper is free from
contamination and spoilage. In addition, we supply specialised
products to protect water-based mill additives such as starch,
pigments, sizes and mineral slurries.
Odour Control & Chemical Sanitation
Our biocides control odour in portable toilet fluids, animal litter
formulations and many other niche applications. Our products
are chosen for their excellent biocidal activity and ability to help
control the generation of noxious and unpleasant odours.
Superior biodegradability of our biocides also minimises
environmental impact.
Disinfection
We offer fast acting, effective biocidal ingredients used in the
formulation of disinfection and sanitizer products for hard
surfaces, medical instruments, cleaners and animal husbandry
applications.
Metal Working Fluids
Our biocides are easily incorporated into all types of metal
working fluid concentrates. They are extremely effective at
controlling microorganisms within the diluted matrix helping to
prevent malodours and fluid degradation. In addition, fluids can
enjoy secondary benefits such as enhanced solvent properties
and extended buffering.

Environmental Profile
Protectol GA 24 / Protectol GA 50
Glutaraldehyde has been shown to be readily biodegradable
and has a low potential to bioaccumulate. Under normal use
conditions, Glutaraldehyde will not cause problems either to
effluent treatment plants or to the environment following
discharge into wastewater. Glutaraldehyde is harmful to fish
and daphnia but is very toxic to algae.

Phenoxypropanol is biodegradable. Experience gained in running
effluents into adapted biological treatment plants has shown that
concentrations of up to 2000mg/l are unlikely to disturb the
efficacy of activated sludge. Phenoxypropanol is of low toxicity to
fish and daphnia but it is harmful to algae. Phenoxypropanol is not
likely to bioaccumulate due to a low log POW.
Protectol HT
1,3,5-Tris-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,3,5-hexahydrotriazine is readily
biodegradable. However, under normal use conditions, the
product should not be discharged into waterways without prior
treatment.1,3,5-Tris-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,3,5-hexahydrotriazine is
harmful to fish and daphnids.
Protectol FM 85 / Protectol FM 99
Formic acid is readily biodegradable. Under normal use conditions,
inhibition of degradation activity in activated sludge is not
expected when the product is correctly introduced at low
concentrations. Because of a low log POW value, bioaccumulation
in organisms is not expected.
Protectol DF
Dimethoxytetrahydrofuran is moderately biodegradable. Under
normal use conditions, inhibition of degradation activity in
activated sludge is not expected when the product is correctly
introduced at low concentrations. In acute studies,
Dimethoxytetrahydrofuran is not harmful to fish.
Protectol GL
Glyoxal is readily biodegradable. Effluent discharge into sewage
treatment plants has shown that concentrations of up to
1000mg/l are unlikely to disturb the efficacy of activated sludge.
In acute studies, Glyoxal is not hazardous to algae, daphnia or
fish. A low octanol / water coefficient also indicates a low
potential to bioaccumulate.
Labelling
Details about the classification and labelling of our products
and further advice on safe handling are contained in the current
safety data sheets.
Note according to the European Biocidal Products Directive
98/8/EC:
Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product
information before use.
Responsible Care
We will manage all aspects of our activities so that we provide a

Application areas
Household & Personal Care
In personal care and household products our antimicrobial
chemistries and preservatives offer high performance, cost
effective solutions. They ensure that the final products are
protected from contamination and are safe to use on the skin
whilst maintaining product stability and compatibility.
Pulp & Paper
In paper making, our biocides are used to control slime build-up
in the process water. This ensures that the paper mill machinery
runs efficiently and the subsequent finished paper is free from
contamination and spoilage. In addition, we supply specialised
products to protect water-based mill additives such as starch,
pigments, sizes and mineral slurries.
Odour Control & Chemical Sanitation
Our biocides control odour in portable toilet fluids, animal litter
formulations and many other niche applications. Our products
are chosen for their excellent biocidal activity and ability to help
control the generation of noxious and unpleasant odours.
Superior biodegradability of our biocides also minimises
environmental impact.
Disinfection
We offer fast acting, effective biocidal ingredients used in the
formulation of disinfection and sanitizer products for hard
surfaces, medical instruments, cleaners and animal husbandry
applications.
Metal Working Fluids
Our biocides are easily incorporated into all types of metal
working fluid concentrates. They are extremely effective at
controlling microorganisms within the diluted matrix helping to
prevent malodours and fluid degradation. In addition, fluids can
enjoy secondary benefits such as enhanced solvent properties
and extended buffering.

Environmental Profile
Protectol GA 24 / Protectol GA 50
Glutaraldehyde has been shown to be readily biodegradable
and has a low potential to bioaccumulate. Under normal use
conditions, Glutaraldehyde will not cause problems either to
effluent treatment plants or to the environment following
discharge into wastewater. Glutaraldehyde is harmful to fish
and daphnia but is very toxic to algae.

Phenoxypropanol is biodegradable. Experience gained in running
effluents into adapted biological treatment plants has shown that
concentrations of up to 2000mg/l are unlikely to disturb the
efficacy of activated sludge. Phenoxypropanol is of low toxicity to
fish and daphnia but it is harmful to algae. Phenoxypropanol is not
likely to bioaccumulate due to a low log POW.
Protectol HT
1,3,5-Tris-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,3,5-hexahydrotriazine is readily
biodegradable. However, under normal use conditions, the
product should not be discharged into waterways without prior
treatment.1,3,5-Tris-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,3,5-hexahydrotriazine is
harmful to fish and daphnids.
Protectol FM 85 / Protectol FM 99
Formic acid is readily biodegradable. Under normal use conditions,
inhibition of degradation activity in activated sludge is not
expected when the product is correctly introduced at low
concentrations. Because of a low log POW value, bioaccumulation
in organisms is not expected.
Protectol DF
Dimethoxytetrahydrofuran is moderately biodegradable. Under
normal use conditions, inhibition of degradation activity in
activated sludge is not expected when the product is correctly
introduced at low concentrations. In acute studies,
Dimethoxytetrahydrofuran is not harmful to fish.
Protectol GL
Glyoxal is readily biodegradable. Effluent discharge into sewage
treatment plants has shown that concentrations of up to
1000mg/l are unlikely to disturb the efficacy of activated sludge.
In acute studies, Glyoxal is not hazardous to algae, daphnia or
fish. A low octanol / water coefficient also indicates a low
potential to bioaccumulate.
Labelling
Details about the classification and labelling of our products
and further advice on safe handling are contained in the current
safety data sheets.

Household & Personal Care
In personal care and household products our antimicrobial
chemistries and preservatives offer high performance, cost
effective solutions. They ensure that the final products are
protected from contamination and are safe to use on the skin
whilst maintaining product stability and compatibility.
Pulp & Paper
In paper making, our biocides are used to control slime build-up
in the process water. This ensures that the paper mill machinery
runs efficiently and the subsequent finished paper is free from
contamination and spoilage. In addition, we supply specialised
products to protect water-based mill additives such as starch,
pigments, sizes and mineral slurries.
Odour Control & Chemical Sanitation
Our biocides control odour in portable toilet fluids, animal litter
formulations and many other niche applications. Our products
are chosen for their excellent biocidal activity and ability to help
control the generation of noxious and unpleasant odours.
Superior biodegradability of our biocides also minimises
environmental impact.
Disinfection
We offer fast acting, effective biocidal ingredients used in the
formulation of disinfection and sanitizer products for hard
surfaces, medical instruments, cleaners and animal husbandry
applications.
Metal Working Fluids
Our biocides are easily incorporated into all types of metal
working fluid concentrates. They are extremely effective at
controlling microorganisms within the diluted matrix helping to
prevent malodours and fluid degradation. In addition, fluids can
enjoy secondary benefits such as enhanced solvent properties
and extended buffering.

Environmental Profile
Protectol GA 24 / Protectol GA 50
Glutaraldehyde has been shown to be readily biodegradable
and has a low potential to bioaccumulate. Under normal use
conditions, Glutaraldehyde will not cause problems either to
effluent treatment plants or to the environment following
discharge into wastewater. Glutaraldehyde is harmful to fish
and daphnia but is very toxic to algae.

Phenoxypropanol is biodegradable. Experience gained in running
effluents into adapted biological treatment plants has shown that
concentrations of up to 2000mg/l are unlikely to disturb the
efficacy of activated sludge. Phenoxypropanol is of low toxicity to
fish and daphnia but it is harmful to algae. Phenoxypropanol is not
likely to bioaccumulate due to a low log POW.
Protectol HT
1,3,5-Tris-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,3,5-hexahydrotriazine is readily
biodegradable. However, under normal use conditions, the
product should not be discharged into waterways without prior
treatment.1,3,5-Tris-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,3,5-hexahydrotriazine is
harmful to fish and daphnids.
Protectol FM 85 / Protectol FM 99
Formic acid is readily biodegradable. Under normal use conditions,
inhibition of degradation activity in activated sludge is not
expected when the product is correctly introduced at low
concentrations. Because of a low log POW value, bioaccumulation
in organisms is not expected.
Protectol DF
Dimethoxytetrahydrofuran is moderately biodegradable. Under
normal use conditions, inhibition of degradation activity in
activated sludge is not expected when the product is correctly
introduced at low concentrations. In acute studies,
Dimethoxytetrahydrofuran is not harmful to fish.
Protectol GL
Glyoxal is readily biodegradable. Effluent discharge into sewage
treatment plants has shown that concentrations of up to
1000mg/l are unlikely to disturb the efficacy of activated sludge.
In acute studies, Glyoxal is not hazardous to algae, daphnia or
fish. A low octanol / water coefficient also indicates a low
potential to bioaccumulate.
